    GREAT video! Just got a BeatBuddy and would love to be able to sync (but I am working with a Ditto X2 - no MIDI capabilities). Will check out the BeatBuddy forum for suggestions!

    Brilliant video. Thank you. I've been looking everywhere for a vid that shows how to link up a beat buddy via midi to my vl3x. Why they didn't put the proper connections on is a complete mystery. But then I'm a midi newb. And need to spend more cash on a midi cable. All good fun.

    could you do this the other way round? as in record a loop then add in the beat?

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  8 лет назад +1

      Hi, yes it can be done. The beatbuddy has a visual metronome so you can see the beats and the infinity will sync to the beatbuddy even if a beat is not playing.

    It should work with the boomerang, but no experience of it myself. Check out the forum at mybeatbuddy.com

    Thanks for the tip on using the auxiliary port to get a clean tone with the guitar amp, but how do you have your guitar plugged in? My gear is as follows: guitar, yamaha thr10x guitar amp, ditto looper, beat buddy. Since the ditto looper doesn't have midi-sync, I need to be able to record my drum onto the looper. Can you please let me know how to achieve this? I can't figure it out. Thanks.

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  9 лет назад

      +graphicartdude Hi, I can't say for sure, but I think it would be as follows. Guitar -> your effects pedals ->beatbuddy -> ditto -> aux port on thr. Unfortunately one of the big problems with the THR is that it lacks any real features for looping so either do what I just said or you have to have a different setup with a mixer or perhaps a looper that can do a separate left and right out? In my demo I'm using a kemper for sounds.

    • @graphicartdude
      @graphicartdude 9 лет назад

      +GuitarStuff Thanks for the reply. I was able to figure out a way to record a loop in the Ditto looper and the beatbuddy. I basically just record the drum track and first musical layer first, and then loop off of that. To achieve this, I had to use the headphone out on the THR amp. I run everything into my monitor speakers which allows me to adjust my amp tones separately. Not as ideal as midi-sync, but it works. My only concern is if it's ok to play my guitar amp through my monitor speakers, but so far it doesn't seem to be damaging them. If anyone has any thoughts on that, they would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Great video man. How much the infinity run ya and how much the beat buddy going for ? And do you have a video without using the midi? What is the purpose of the midi , sorry if that's a stupid question.

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  10 лет назад

      Infinity - www.pigtronix.com beatbuddy - mybeatbuddy.com. The purpose of the midi is to synchronise the loops and the drums - without midi it will not work.

    i know its an old video , but can you explain the signal chain here ... are you using an amp for guitar and seperate speaker for the buddy or are they both being fed into some monitors/speakers ? just trying to figure out a setup for myself .. looking to loop guitar synced with a drum mahcine , cheersz

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  2 года назад

      I'm using a guitar modeller (Kemper) and routing that through the looper and then to the beatbuddy (which has an internal mixer) and then sending the mixed output (headphone output jack) to a small powered speaker. The explanation starts at about 00:35

    How are you getting the guitar and looper directed to a different speaker than the beatbuddy?

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  2 года назад +1

      I'm not. They are all going through one speaker. The guitar sound is coming from a Kemper and is designed to go through a normal FRFR speaker.

    Hi. Great video. Do I have to make any setting changes to the BeatBuddy and Infinity Looper to synchronize? Or do you just hook the Midi pedal to both pedals? Thank you

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  8 лет назад

      Thanks. Well there have been a few firmware changes to both pedals since I made this video. Mine worked out of the box just like this, but I had to edit a couple of settings after firmware updates. So maybe if you buy them new, they'll come already set up. Making the change is easy by connecting them to your computer and using the supplied software if you need to.

    I just ordered one of these Beat Buddies with the midi ps/2 breakout cable. I have heard now, though; that BB does not like Roland sync, do you know if this is correct?

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  10 лет назад

      What I have heard is that Roland has well known problems in the area of sync. Having said that, it might just work if you are doing basic things. I'm no expert! Good luck!

    Thats just making it to easy LOL ,great Vid Allen,I,m not a great guitarist but think I could make music with this,can you edit drum loops or are they just fixed presets ? ,gonna recommend this to a friend at work .

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  10 лет назад

      Thanks Chris, the beatbuddy is a drum machine in a foot pedal. There's a way of editing different 'songs' with the computer editor, but you can't edit the individual patterns if that makes sense. There are 200 onboard songs that come with it.

    Do you need to connect via midi port to connect your looper & beat buddy? I have a jam man xt & it doesn’t have a midi port

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  4 года назад

      Yes, the midi connection between the two of them makes them synchronise the beat. It also makes the bars on the infinity the same as the bars on the beatbuddy.

    How would I have beatbuddy/looper sound come out PA only and my guitar amp sound separate. I don't want Beatbuddy coming out of guitar amp. Use a mixer? Please help thanks

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  9 лет назад +2

      +Jeff Heffel This is pretty easy. You could use a mixer if you wanted easy control of levels, but you can just take the output of the beatbuddy into the PA and the output of your guitar into the guitar amp. There is no need to take your guitar sound through the beatbuddy like I do in the video, but the option is there if you want it.

    Im trying to sync to my line6 M13 loop. It does support midi sync but I can't seem to get it to work. Did you have to set a midi channel?

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  10 лет назад

      Everything I did was with out of the box settings. Just worked like that. I'm no expert, but have you checked whether the m13 can accept external sync ('slave') and if it does have you set it that way? Good luck!

      It's the Kemper Profiler. Just a rig I copied from the rig exchange. There are several bass emulators on there.

    I would really like to see company's add more dynamic control and various tempo control to these products,
    to both these two products like the infinity looper and the beat-buddy.
    like you said its fun to play but my concern is that the audience gets bored with one tempo one dynamic for a entire song.
    looper: speed
    There are products like phrase trainers that alter the speed of the song but doesn't change the pitch, if you could add that to a loop pedal then you could increase or decrease your first loop, so you don't have start from scratch, or play a song too slow or too fast. or create some excitement during the end of a song by increasing the speed.
    drum machine: speed
    for something like the beat-buddy tempo change would just maybe be a foot controller up or down in tempo(tap tempo during a song will be to difficult )
    looper/drum machine: dynamics
    and then for both proper dynamic control 'loud and soft' maybe something like a foot control head phone amp, so you can decrease or increase volume without loosing quality. example; verse soft, chorus loud:
    makes me wish there was one midi foot controller that you could connect to a laptop, so you can create your own virtual loop and drum machine setup,
    like you said you couldn't move between different beats on the beat buddy unless you did it with your hand.

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  9 лет назад

      +Richard Hudson Good points, but there are already plenty of options for dynamics with this setup. It's possible to attach an expression pedal to the looper for volume, and it has other automated ways of varying loops. The beatbuddy has a huge number of beat changes within a song that can be controlled by footpedal. I'm just not demoing all of the capabilities here. The only thing the looper won't do is vary the timing of a loop whilst staying in the same key. You can vary the loop speed, but the music goes up and down in proportion. By the way, beatbuddy and infinity also accept a wide range of midi inputs so you could link them to a pedal and do more - although no idea what.

    • @GuitarStuffChannel
      @GuitarStuffChannel  9 лет назад

      I thought that at first. But no need for that. Because it's syncd it will keep playing in time no matter what. It's like another infinitely variable channel for your looper.

    • @Bflatest
      @Bflatest 10 лет назад

      allenhuish if you are playing over like A7 to D7 and E7 like a blues style. Try this:
      over the A7 you can play min and/or maj pent. then over the D7 play Amin pent. and/or D maj Pent. and same for E7 play Amin pent. or Emaj Pent. If you are not sure about how to switch just focus on the root of each chord and use that as a start point over each chord.

      +Bflatest Hey...I would like to learn how to play a mix between minor and major. Is there any reference you can point to that helps illustrate this method? I'd love to know if you wouldn't mind sharing. Thank you.

    • @Bflatest
      @Bflatest 9 лет назад

      also please note that this guy on vid I sent you starts in a medium advanced way. To start in a more simple way just play the MINOR PENT. and then just slide that same patter back a step and a half and play over that scale and you just did a MIN to MAJ riff

    • @graphicartdude
      @graphicartdude 9 лет назад

      +Bflatest Oh ok...I think I know what you're talking about. I have noticed the pattern shared between both scales. Thank you.
