This is, until further notice, the most useful video on this pedal I have found. Very step-by-step on the essential functions needed to get started, a huge contrast to the mind-boggling lightning-fast overview Pigtronix themselves put out. If you didn't send the pedal back, I would love to see a slightly deeper dive into the slightly more advanced features, such as loop aging and the arm feature. It's telling that the Pigtronix video features the drop pitch/tempo mode as the greatest feature, something (as you say) most of us would never use. They kind of put the cart before the horse, highlighting the craziest features rather than the most essential, as you did.
Okay... I bought it! I love using it! So much better than a one button looper IMHO. I had to come back to your video Sean and thank you again for your demo on the Infinity 3 looper by Pigtronix now that I've used it for a couple weeks. So easy! Really helping my practice, and can't wait to busk with it! THANK YOU !!!
I'm glad you found it. The previous version seems to do all the same things. I went through the same research and decision process a few years ago and ended up with the Infinity Looper. Best wishes.
This definitely seems like a high quality looper pedal for the live performers with the UI being so straight forward, you don't wanna have to stress about the setup when performing. A little pricey, especially for me because I wouldn't use it for live performing atm, but definitely something to keep in mind. Nice demo Sean!
The Boss RC505 has a foot switch. It has two foot pedals and you can control two channels with your foot. Whatever works for you is the way to go, but you can use the foot switch the way you are using this pedal.
You can use one switch to trigger loop 1 and the second switch to trigger loop 2, but you still would need to stop the track with your hand. That's why I think you need 3 button, Loop 1, Loop 2, stop. The 2 button switch doesn't cut if for me personally plus it's the worst design ever not having an on/off switch. It's runs through 9 v batteries like crazy and you can't use an external power supply.
The Boss RC30 came out in 2011, the first Pigtronix Infinity was 2012... and it was already able to do all of these things so I'm not sure what the 'upgrades' are considering the original was so far ahead of everything else at the time. The Boss only got so popular because nobody heard about the Pigtronix. It may be that the RC500 has (mostly) caught up, but it's taken nearly ten years to do it.
Have you Not heard of the " BOOMERANG Phrase III " .... it has been around since around 2013 and has always had all that this can do with one very important Extra, ....It can do up to 4 ( ...That's right FOUR ) Parts ! Also, I noticed that you're having to footswitch over to LOOP 2 when you finish LOOP 1 ( but at the END of the loop1 ) ... On the Boomerang Phrase III you can hit the Footswitch for Loop 2 WHILE you are playing Loop 1 & it will QUE up Loop 2 and start it seamlessly when loop 1 finishes ! ... I'm surprised if you haven't seen or heard of it yet ... this thing is THE Best Professional Looper out there in my 'umble opinion Nothing beats it's easy format, no-nonsense functionality for LIVE Musicians .... Probably because it was Engineered by a Musician & Electronics Whiz !
You should check out the Digitech Trio Plus. It does all of this and more, lets you store 5 parts per song and then multiple songs (also has a removable SD card). You can sequence the parts however you like. While it is built around the band in a box concept you can also use it as a looper without the drum/bass parts. Best looper on the planet in my opinion. I really think you'd dig it as a song writing tool.
How can you record serial loops on Trio Plus? i know you can record multiple loops and sequence them, but as far as i have been able to tell you have to record a loop, then stop, switch to the next sequence and record that loop. The Playback if fine, but wouldn't work for building a multipart song live.
TC Helicon’s VoiceLive 3 does the “series” thing also. They call it something else, but it’s the same feature. I can see why an RC-505 would work for you. It’s a tabletop machine, and ya don’t want to stomp on a 505…but feature-wise? “The 505 beats this Pigtronix box.
Hi I am a beginner and got this looper and a Reverb and delay pedal for a small board. Could I know how you are setup -cable connections because I am not able to get any sound, I know cables are not connected right. Thank You Eddie
You have SYNCH off (green) ALL (green) SERIES (green) You record both loops and stop both using the STOP footswitch. What happens when you hit either LOOP 1 or LOOP2 switches? The manual says “The All functionality also applies to the Play command. Once the loops are stopped, hitting either loop footswitch will resume playback on both loops”, but does this apply if SERIES is selected or only with PARALLEL ?
Hi Sean, had a mountain bike accident over the weekend and now my left arm is in plaster so I can't play. What would you recommend an advancing beginner to do when you can't physically play the guitar for some reason? Cheers, WB.
What a great question. Let me Bogart the stage. I would do this, get some sort of keyboard doesn’t have to be expensive. Learn right hand chords, notes and intervals. Relate it back to the guitar so that when you can play again you have nailed chord construction, key make up and intervals. Learn guitar licks on the keyboard and those intervals will be embedded when you go back. All the best
I've been using the Infinity MKI onstage for some time. It's been a very solid performer. The addition of the second aux is a big deal for me. Is it possible to route to the Main outs ONLY the dry (non looped) signal ? That would be huge for me.
Hey Sean. Does your infinity give you a crazy amount of hiss? Mine does especially after I loop. Even with nothing plugged into the input I can record a silent loop and it will still add crazy amount of hiss once the loop is in playback. I have to keep the master knob under 12 to have it even playable. Doesn’t sound like you have this issue on yours
Mine has been really good with that. I wonder if it's a power issue. I had that in the previous house I was in with pedals. Maybe try plugging it into a different outlet and see if that fixes anything? If not hit up Pigtronix, cause mine has been pretty good. Also I generally run a guitar with humbuckers through mine, so that could be a consideration I'm missing.
@@seandaniel23 thanks for the reply. I ended up getting a replacement one from sweetwater but unfortunately the same issue happens. It seems some people have this issue but not everybody. Not sure why this is the case but I’m still gonna keep this looper cuz I love how it works
@@Darmoosh27 @Plastichead2728 Man that's such a bummer cause i really think it's the best looper around. What mine does do is that if i leave it plugged in overnight, i have to unplug it and replug it in to work. not a big deal but kinda strange
@@seandaniel23 yeah it really is the best hardware looper I’ve used. I used to use Ableton to loop but got tired of running the guitar thru software . My plan is to get a boost pedal and place it after the looper to see if that works, maybe even before but I worry about the limiter. Don’t know why pigtronix doesn’t allow bypass of the limiter
I got a looper pedal coming today from Reverb. I’m just a beginner guitar playing muppet. So, it may be beyond my abilities. But, I don’t care I’m having fun.
Bummer it doesn't have inbuilt drum sounds - or does it? I love my boss rc-5 as a practice tool and song sketch pad and the drums are super important for me. I think the old pigtronix you could sync up a beat buddy which would work but your footprint now is pretty big with that
very nice peace of gear and good demonstration, i am very intersted in it! can you please tell us the difference between the old version 1 and the new version 3?
Hey Sean, do you have to simultaneously hit loop button and play guitar at same time? Could I hit the loop button and then play guitar? I am paralyzed so I I use my hand to trigger all my pedals on my board. Thanks
If you sync the looper to an external clock with the MIDI in, you can then hit the record button and it won’t start recording until the next “1” so this could help you click the button and have some time to get ready to play/record
Yes and it works. I start the Beatbuddy then starts my loop. When loop is completed, hit button. Then go to beat buddy & stop it. The recorded loop with the drums is great- add loops on top.

You can make the Boss RC 500 do the exact same thing.
This should have been released in 2012 before I bought then sold my RC-300 that took too much floor room...
