Quick Tip: If you don't know what side your gas filler cap is on, just look at the fuel gauge inside the vehicle and you will see a tiny arrow pointing to the left or the right, and that's where she is. :)
Great presentation. Thank you. I would like to suggest you add more information like why it’s important to turn vehicle off, never fill a gas can while it’s in the back of a truck, never smoke near a pump, etc. You are doing a great job!
I lived in New Jersey my entire life and never had to pump my own gas. Recently had to drive out of state and this video really helped. Thanks so much !
Hopefully you will be. One of the New Jerseyains to actually agree with the lawmakers and actually make pumping gas not illegal and make all gas stations there self serve. Because I've read up on it and heard that it's not the lawmakers holding up that bill passing to make stations self serve it is the people of the state holding it up. It's truly not that hard the only thing that could make it slightly hard is if like here in Oregon. Where I'm not from originally. They have compression Pumps. So that makes it just a tiny bit difficult. But really in actuality all you have to do is make sure. The pump is fully pushed all the way in so that the compression is even and will pump your fuel with no problem.
Haha.. this is a great video. Most would find it ridiculous but some were never taught or live in states where there’s no self service stations. Case in point, myself: My dad taught me to drive around fields at my papa’s property in old farm trucks and 4wheelers as a kid. Got my permit at 14 and drove my sister and I to school every morning while my mom/dad sat passenger. No one ever showed me or let me use a gas station pump 😂 I could fill up my go kart and the lawn mower with a gas can but when I went to fill up my first car (‘97 XJ) I couldn’t get the pump to work…. I was hitting that back pressure sensor by putting the nozzle in too far 😂😂😂
You'd be surprised how many elderly widows whose husbands always drove and pumped the gas don't know how to do this. It looks too much like a computer which can be intimidating. I actually know one.
I'm not even a widow, but i came for a poor country, I'm 39 and i have no idea how to do it,so.... there's more people out there than you think that doesn't know how to do it.

im so glad that almost 60k people are also in the same boat as me xD im from oregon so pumping your own gas use to be completely illegal but now its something along the lines of how many residents live in your county depends on wether its legal or not, either way, almost 22 years of my life ive never had a reason to pump my own gas until i recently had a moment come up where i pulled up to a station and no gas attends where around, so i waited and waited until like 20-25 minutes went by before one finally showed up and all i could think was "yea im not waiting that long again" so now i gotta learn
I now live here in this state. And when I got here 1st and try to get out and pump my gas. My boyfriend told me that's not how it was done here I said why not I'm Grown. Talking about people that live here. Because it's ridiculous to me that somebody would wait in their car as long as you did for somebody to pump your gas. And then even when you are getting your gas pump the least The customer could do is unhook it because gas stations get extremely busy. So you'll wait a whole hour to get your gas pumped and a whole another hour to get it unhooked makes no sense

Excellent question Regina. Modern pumps automatically detect when the fuel tank is filled. I have never seen a pump that doesn't do that. But a good general rule, if gas is spilling onto the ground, let go of the fuel handle and put it back on the pump. I hope this helps!
Ok so I have kinda a big question is the number important like say 87 or something like that does it matter what the number is that you fill your car with basically to sum it up in case you couldn’t understand me witch I apologize for does it matter if like you fill your car with fuel that has the number 91 on it bye the way very good video really informative

I just purchased a newer car. The old car had the fuel on the driver's side and I know how far to pull up to easily add fuel. Any hints on how to align with the pump when it is on the passenger side?
Excellent video Nate! I am glad that you explained the difference between octanes. Question- what is the octane for the E-85 vs. E-15? My Camry only goes as high as E-15. Also, what advantage does Premium have over Regular?
It depends, but generally the higher the number, the higher the octane (basically means more explody in the engine). Unless your car says it needs higher octane fuel, it's just wasting money to use it. Certain gas stations advertise their higher octane gas as being able to clean your engine. That is not something that I can really talk on with authority.
Hi Nathan just subbed and took a look at your beacon and CB radio videos I was wondering could you do a tour of your truck and lights thanks keep up the good work :)
Nice video.Do all gas pumps have a button to select the gas grade. From far away i thought i saw this pump that didn't have buttons that stick out like that. Maybe it was just one of those ones where u press on the grade and it's like a censor? if that makes sense
You might want to voice this over, at the beginning of the video as you pull the handle nozzle out of its holder carefully far enough away from your feet, dump the nozzle over as there will be some residual fuel in the filler tube before you start what that tube in your gas hole before dumping that fuel out you may be spilling fuel on the side of your car on your shoe when your tire and that's not good. Also Midway into your video about the hold latch on the handle that's all fine, except when the latches are broken and don't release upon pulling up on the handle and that can be a serious problem. let's say you're pumping on a pre-authorized debit card now you can't stop the fuel because the latch is stuck into the on position and it will keep pumping until the safety mechanism shus it off or tank is full and now you can't pay for a major portion of your gas. my suggestion in that instance is to teach the gas station manager and owners a lesson and press the fuel emergency stop button. That will cause a lot of commotion. All fuel pumps will be stopped not just yours, alarms will be sounded, fire and police will show up and the owners and managers will be very upset, not with you, because you were trying to prevent a possible emergency from occurring. Seriously teach them a lesson. Gas stations like that need to be punished and that's the best way to punish them, you will not get in trouble there's no law against hitting the emergency stop fuel button for any reason whatsoever. or you can just test the spring latch yourself again when you do this when you squeeze the handle even though you have not Presley fuel choice yet gas won't be pumped but some gas will be discharged out the filler tube again so squeeze the handle some fuel come out, then Chester spring latch turn it to all the way full on then squeeze the handle if the last releases you're good to go at the last does not release replace the pump filler to into the holder then move to another pump. you can choose whether or not to let the station know that there's a problem with the latch sometimes I tell them sometimes I don't give a s*** and let the next person deal with it it depends if it's over a week..... And the latch it still don't release...... Some days you just feel like pressing the emergency stop button. RUclips doesn't support image insertion in comments so I can't put in here a silly open handed face slap from Psych.
Some little tips here don’t top off your tank when the handle clicks and stops don’t keep putting more gas in. Your now over filling the tank and spilling gas into your charcoal canister witch is used to help vent gas fumes you don’t want gas in your charcoal canister
Hi I am moving out of NJ and never had to refuel by myself till now. Can you give line by line steps on how to refuel the gas tank. I think it will help everyone as a quick cheat sheet.
How do you know how much exactly will fill to the top the tank to pay the exact amount of munny so that it won't spill out all ovah? I just got my first car sorry for being so dumb.
The simple answer is there is no way to tell. However, pumps in the USA (and probably other countries too) have a special device in the nozzle that detects when your car is full. The pump will automatically stop. If you pay at the pump with a credit card, you don't even have to think about it. If you go inside and pay cash, all you do is this: Look at your gas gauge, where is the needle? In my example here, let's say it's half full. Now, take the capacity of your gas tank in gallons. If you don't know your tanks capacity, check your cars owners manual or search Google for your exact make and model. Then, since your gauge is at half, divide the capacity of your tank in half. In my case, my truck has 31 gallon tank. 31 / 2 = 15.5. So if I know my tank is half full, or around that point, I'll tell the gas station attendant that I need 17 gallons. You give them the cash and they put that amount on the pump. If you over estimated, once your done pumping, simply go inside and they will give you your change. I hope this helps!
The little number displays above the octane numbers show the price per gallon. Some gas pumps will have two displays per fuel type, one for the cash price one for the credit price.
Thanks for watching! I have never used a BJs gas station, as I believe they are a club station, meaning you have to pay a membership to use it. Ask a BJs associate.
Look at your gas gauge in your car. How much gas is left in your tank? Find out how many gallons your gas tank holds. Multiply the amount of gas times the cost
nice, but important is also.. you know how to find out where your gas opening is left or right.. look at your gage.. there is an arrow.. left or right.. that is the site of your wehicle.. thx

Self service gas pumps in the uk take £100 quid off your account even when you only put say £30 in they do this to make sure you cover the payment so if you have dd the next day coming off your bank for £100 quid it won’t cover it
Does anyone sell a filter you can put over the end of a Gas station nozzle. Having problems with trash from their underground tanks getting in my vehicle gas tank.
Why can't they make diesel a different shaped nozzle? - meaning yes it's bigger and won't fit in gas vehicles, but gas nozzles are smaller and will fit in diesel vehicles. (I know it sounds dumb- but if you have several vehicles in your fleet- and it today's hurry and move etc. you could make this mistake.) good video. look at NJ it's not legal to pump your own fuel.
lol how would anyone make that mistake? It literally tells you what's diesel and what's gas. The only way someone can make that mistake is if their blind, and in that case they clearly shouldn't be driving..
Does they have rule or policy for the people use parking for pump gas ? Because i was in WaWa station and i saw parking still empty but have car and some people parking not correct place for parking that is a pump gas section and they not pump gas they just parking like normal . And i call for manager he come to remove suck car have a woman scream angry with us and take phone record me and manager of station she call officer talk with them i try to steal her car and then the woman be solve fall then take to us pay fines for station and police call and honorary compensation for me
You’re assuming that people will pay with a card. If they want to pay cash, it’s different. Also, sometimes you have to go inside to let them know what pump you’re using. I’m 70 years old and nobody pumps their own gas in my state. If I went out of state, someone else always filled the tank. I never pumped my own gas until this week. I didn’t want to look stupid. But this video would not have helped.
Check your owners manual. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the grade of gas each car requires. You could also call and ask a dealer what they recommend.
@@chasechang6977 you own a car, and don't know what kind of gas to put in it.... Yeah. Maybe you shouldn't be driving if you don't know how to put gas in a car, or even know what type of gas goes in it... Or to even do a basic google search or look into your owners manual to see what gas goes inside your car. 🤦♂️
Nathan's Car Care wow you responded. That's pretty funny..I heard about that. I do enjoy your videos..I would watch whatever you post..think you should do more serious vehicle repair. Lawn care..whatever..thanks man
Go inside the gas station and tell the person at the register how many gallons you need. You can look up your car on Google and find out how many gallons the gas tank is. Then, look at your gas gauge and estimate how much you'll need. If your tank holds 20 gallons and your gauge is at 1/2, then you will probably need about 10 gallons. If you overestimated, you will just need to go back inside and they will give you the money back that you didn't use. You can also ask them for, say $30 worth of gas, or what ever amount you need. I hope this helps!
Quick Tip: If you don't know what side your gas filler cap is on, just look at the fuel gauge inside the vehicle and you will see a tiny arrow pointing to the left or the right, and that's where she is. :)

It's so cool Nathan. What state do you live in up Northwest?
In Germany we have
95 octane e5
95 octane e10
98 octane e5
100 octane e5
102 octane e5
and diesel of course
90% off all cars need just 95 octane.
Your fuel isn't different or better than our. You just use a different system for measuring octane.

Yea what Nimbus said. It's impossible to have over 100 octane with our measuring system because it's a percentage.

Does anyone sell a filter you can put over the end of a Gas station nozzle. Having problems with trash from their underground tanks getting in my vehicle gas tank.
Good job!!!)
Thank you!
wait omg are you a fellow mainer? as soon as your video opened up i was like "this guy is a mainer"
I have no relation to Maine. No relatives or history there. Sorry lol.
Peaceful video
Why can't they make diesel a different shaped nozzle? - meaning yes it's bigger and won't fit in gas vehicles, but gas nozzles are smaller and will fit in diesel vehicles. (I know it sounds dumb- but if you have several vehicles in your fleet- and it today's hurry and move etc. you could make this mistake.) good video. look at NJ it's not legal to pump your own fuel.
DA 3 Mexican because putting regular fuel in a diesel engine won't hurt the diesel engine
lol how would anyone make that mistake? It literally tells you what's diesel and what's gas. The only way someone can make that mistake is if their blind, and in that case they clearly shouldn't be driving..
Nice words 🌹
Nice
Does they have rule or policy for the people use parking for pump gas ? Because i was in WaWa station and i saw parking still empty but have car and some people parking not correct place for parking that is a pump gas section and they not pump gas they just parking like normal . And i call for manager he come to remove suck car have a woman scream angry with us and take phone record me and manager of station she call officer talk with them i try to steal her car and then the woman be solve fall then take to us pay fines for station and police call and honorary compensation for me
Wow. There are no laws on that, but individual gas stations may have rules. That's crazy though.
Question
What if only 1 or 2 galons only?
You can go inside and tell the cashier a specific amount you want and pay for it. Then the pump will give you the exact amount.
@@TheNateTake nice. Thanks for sharing
But this video would not have helped.
pumping your own gas is fast, and fun
Made me feel like eddie Murphy inside coming to america movie.
How to pump gas.i be damn
It's amazing what people don't know these days. I'm just happy to be able to help those who don't know.
thank you so much!!
In our country, diesel is black and the RON97 is green which is the total opposite
It seems to be different in every country.
I have a Mercedes E350, what gas shall I choose
Check your owners manual. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the grade of gas each car requires. You could also call and ask a dealer what they recommend.
thank you still
@@chasechang6977 you own a car, and don't know what kind of gas to put in it.... Yeah. Maybe you shouldn't be driving if you don't know how to put gas in a car, or even know what type of gas goes in it... Or to even do a basic google search or look into your owners manual to see what gas goes inside your car. 🤦♂️
I hope you made this as a joke..I really like your videos. Where are you?
+steven schaub I made this as a service to all the poor Oregonians that now might have to pump their own gas 😂. I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
Nathan's Car Care wow you responded. That's pretty funny..I heard about that. I do enjoy your videos..I would watch whatever you post..think you should do more serious vehicle repair. Lawn care..whatever..thanks man
I didn't see you insert your car, so how would you pay???
He did
How do you pay for gas when you don’t have a card?
Go inside the gas station and tell the person at the register how many gallons you need. You can look up your car on Google and find out how many gallons the gas tank is. Then, look at your gas gauge and estimate how much you'll need. If your tank holds 20 gallons and your gauge is at 1/2, then you will probably need about 10 gallons. If you overestimated, you will just need to go back inside and they will give you the money back that you didn't use. You can also ask them for, say $30 worth of gas, or what ever amount you need. I hope this helps!
@@TheNateTake Perfect, that answered my question. Thanks
Who's Phil Port?
What if u use cash
Me watching this confirms my extreme anxiety 🥲
Relax, it will be alright
BTW just to let you know if you keep hitting the tank like one a day you'll get an evap leak BTW I'm a mechanic
What is the age limit to pump gas?
Varies, but it's usually 16.
This guy HAS to be from Oregon.
