    That's ok, my GF put 19 gallons of diesel in my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. So when I finally found out what happened, the story came about that her mom thought she would be nice and fill it up. Then they drove it around and called saying it ran like crap. She calls her mom and asks what you put in it, and she says "Its a Dodge I put Diesel in it Duh!!!". She's no longer my GF, and she actually had the nerve to ask if she could borrow the truck again the next day I said oh hell no.

    I was operating a backhoe when I was stationed in Afghanistan, someone put diesel in the hydraulic tank and hydraulic fluid in the diesel tank after servicing it. Needless to say, I got halfway to the work site and had to have it hauled back. I was not amused.
    I made the mistake with my '76 454 Suburban of not paying attention at the gas station and grabbed the green nozzle. I got about 12 gallons when I realized my mistake. I filled it the rest of the way with premium. I ran 3 full tanks of premium before I got all of the diesel burned out. Boy, was my baby a Smokey Joe.

    I had a similar experience. when I was in my teens I would do yard work to earn a few extra bucks. one couple that I mowed their lawn on a regular basis, had their regular mower in the shop. and the wife remembered that they had an extra one in a shed. and told me I would just have to put some gas in the tank and everything would be good. whelp, I filled the tank and started the mower up and proceeded to mow the lawn and the engine started sounding really rough and grindy. and then all of a sudden there was a loud bang! and the engine came to a grinding halt. and while I was looking it over, I immediately noticed a fairly large hole in the side of engine block, and the end of the piston rod sticking out. what she had failed to tell me, was that the engine ran on two cycle fuel.

      Zero harm to a gas engine?
      Say that to my uncle, his imbecile son managed to fill said uncle's near-empty motorcycle tank with diesel, get far out, fast enough with the gas\petrol in the lines so that the diesel would get into the combustion chamber, hydrolocking the engine and pretty much pushing a piston through the block, causing a lowside crash and a very deserved SCRAPE AND BURN TO THE ASS MEAT.

    Back in the late 1970's my brother borrowed my car one weekend and put 5 gallons of fuel in my car. He too assumed it was regular gasolines but it turned out to be DIESEL FUEL. So he dumps 5 gallons of it in my tank, which still had an equivalent amount of regular unleaded gas in it, which roughly made it a 50/50 mix. It seemed to run okay but my car, a 1971 Chevy Impala 350-V8, didn't seem to have the power it did before. I topped it off with regular gasoline and it seemed to be fine after this.

      Road diesel in colder climates often contains up to 50% kerosene by volume to prevent gel formation at low temperatures. So yes, diesel engines are not offended by Kerosene much at all.

    • @jackass123455

      diesel mixed with fuel won't cause any harm no worse than running 2 stroke in a 4 cycle.

    • @renegadeoflife87
      @renegadeoflife87 7 лет назад +2

      Eh, its more harmful than you think. The plugs get fouled up with oil and carbon, leading to hard starting and poor fuel economy.
      Plus you end up with unburnt fuel dilluting the lube oil, shortening engine life.
      And if that wasn't bad enough, the excess carbon forms lumps in the chamber. Later on these carbon deposits cause preignition and detonation, damaging the engine further despite it being back on the normal fuel.

    • @renegadeoflife87
      @renegadeoflife87 7 лет назад

      Never said it would make the engine fail. But it will make the engine perform poorly if it isn't serviced afterward to clean up the mess that has been made.
      Without being serviced afterward, a later situation requiring good performance could cause engine damage because of the effects of all that carbon fouling- assuming it hasn't already been burned out by the lean-burn properties of ethanol blended gasoline.

      Watch the video by Top gear. Where they do both. Gas in diesel and diesel in gas car.. Interesting results actually. No putting in Nitromethane will likely ruin a diesel for sure. I've ran in in lawnmowers okay diluted with gas. ALWAYS wanted to see it put into a diesel. Diesel has 40 octane. NM has a lot more! You can but it at a hobby shop that sells RC Planes and Cars or on Amazon. Use a small amount only!

    • @Xantosh82
      @Xantosh82 7 лет назад

      UZI9MMAUTO yeah but for cars you will wear out the rings and the pump. I used to be a storeperson in a mechanic shop. Had 2 brand new land cruisers come in dead because the wife and daughter filled them with petrol instead of diesel. They had to do a full rebuild of both engines and fuel pumps.

    now you smoked out your garage and all the pest is dead! so it is time to smoke out the garden! BTW you might have diesel in your oil so you should have had an oil change to! or you might get some serious engine problems. why? as you could see the diesel came out of the muffler so the combustion chamber was flooded with diesel... and a bunch of it went by the piston rings because they do not seal as much as an diesel engine. your oil is now mixed with diesel and that will make the oil film protecting it break because the oil is not holding up against the friction anymore. Ok the engine will be clean mow since the diesel cleaned out all carbon deposits in it but the metal is wearing out on the friction surfaces now... since the video is over 7 years old it might be dead by now (I guess it too like 3-4 months depending on the hours you put on it week by week). At least you know why it broke down now (if you did not change the oil)

      You can see that where it was marked "diesel" was very dirty before it got wiped off, so they may be able to read but just did not see the marking through the filth. You can buy a different colored container, or you can just get some colored duct tape from the Autozone and wrap a stripe around the container..

    I had the same thing happen to me at work but it was a weed eater and blower.My supervisor, she poured diesel gas in a red container but the gas came from our Stache of gas cans back at the shop and I had no idea she took the gas from the yellow can and so I'm just pouring diesel in our blower and weed eater the whole day and I go to try to start them and I'm think like Damn, that's alot of smoke coming out the exhaust what the hell is going on.Then sure enough I bring the suit back to one of guys at the shop, he says you got diesel in your shit.I caught so much crap/ridicule from the guys.Lessoned Learned now.Ive been cutting grass for months for my job and I never thing to check for the small things like that cause it's a normal routine we do every day so now I'm the dumb ass of the year.My supervisor says that wouldn't of happened if the gas cans were labeled from the start but I didn't have my back turned and watched her get gas I'd of said something.

    I helped a friends put new heads on a v8 chey truck and it had ran for so long with worn out valve seals with oil leaking into the cylinder that after we fixed the problem the truck smoked for a few days from all the oil in the exhaust pipe/muffler. He was worried the heads didn't fix the problem but it got better and better until it stopped smoking completely.
    There must have been lots and lots of oil in the muffler alone.
    You video reminded me of that. Thank s for sharing your video.
