Whats the point of stick fighting? Is it mainly for sport? I cant ever see a time where sticks would be in a real world fight
1) Hard to legislate
2) Cheap to own
2) Easy to conceal
3) Easy to improvise out of other objects
4) Transferable skills to most anything else
and someone else can probably add to this list
It's a fun and accessible form of combat sport where you can integrate grappling and striking skills. Some of the attributes developed can appropriately be applied to similar impact weapons such as pipes, bats, batons, and longer edged weapons.
No one walks around carrying a stick...but no one walks around wearing boxing gloves either. The skills we extract from combat sport practices can be modified to suit real world application. Some more than others of course.
I keep one laying next to the passenger seat in my car for road rage idiots. Much less likely to go to jail if you defend yourself with a stick as opposed to a gun or knife. Canoy Canete Doce Pares. Also, had to use a few times on vicious dogs while walking my dog in my old neighborhood.
and could you please elaborate on what a 'real world fight' would be?
Do you also say the same for swordfighting?
and if you think swords are superior, why would someone carry swords in real fights?
and if you think swords and knives and sticks are inferior, then do you only train with a gun?
what about hand to hand combat? surely that's inferior as well right?
