      What if that "someone else" happens to be someone you love like your own child, significant other, parent, sibling or your best friend? Would you abandon yourself for their sake now? Would you do it if it was for the combined sake of literally everyone you love?
      I am not saying that you shouldn't love yourself. You definitely should but I think that it is possible to take the idea of self-love too far and into the territory of plain selfishness and narcissism and it's not obvious to me where to draw the line between the two.

    "I don't abandon myself for someone else", a great quote! We should make sacrifices when needed, help each other, and so on, but abandon one self is the same as suicide even if the body and mind still lives on. But what is the point of life if you abandon yourself?

      Thanks! Definitely getting better at loving myself but that also means putting others down and walking away when you know you deserve better, sometimes we don't have to be the first one to be kind, especially when we are kind always, how about others be kind and respectful, show up and be present this time instead of hiding behind the scenes, give credit, give them what they deserve instead of putting them down, give them that promotion, that respect and credit they deserve, show them they are valued because that is what they need from you. Otherwise, walk away.

    I’ve recently found this channel and lately I’ve been binging all your videos. I definitely feel like I neglected self love in the past and even now I feel like dumb mistakes in my past take over my mindset some times rather than focusing on where I want to go in life. I definitely think it’s good to take time and get to know yourself such as who is the person you want to be and what your goals are but if you beat your self up all the time that can be hard to do. I guess it’s all about balance with self care and holding yourself accountable

    Such a good video! For me personally, the hardest part about setting your boundaries is when people make you feel bad about that. For example, I don't eat meat and the amount of time people in my family try to make me feel weird or bad about it is insane. But I've learned to stick to my moral compass, even if it results in not being understood oder being perceived as somewhat different. Thank god, my friends are totally different. Also, about saying no: I often feel selfish when I say no to doing smth "because I don't feel like it", because I know it would make the other person happy if I did said thing. I definitely say yes too often.

That makes me think obviously it's easy for her to say because she looks so good already and when you are good looking you get good treatment from most of the people and it makes it easy for you to love yourself

    • @MarinaFilipa.1980
      @MarinaFilipa.1980 5 месяцев назад

      You may be right, but only partially. Because you must be aware, like me, that there are people who are not so beautiful but who have a charm and magnetism that captivates anyone. And you will also certainly meet beautiful people who, when they speak, don't say anything well and end up not captivating anyone. I think the lesson here is to really have the self-love and self-respect necessary so that, deep down, you attract situations and people into your life that will be advantageous for you. I think it has more to do with attitude than beauty. But beauty is very relative too. What is beautiful for some may not be beautiful for others. And we can all improve our aesthetics, whether by exercising, changing a haircut, changing a style of dress, besides nowadays, if you have the possibility to do so, there are thousands of aesthetic treatments to change what we don't like so much. I know it's not all that linear, but physical beauty can be important, but if there's no content, it ends up having no meaning. It's a personal opinion of course

    I'm not sure where or when it began, but throughout my teenage to now adult life I've carried a deeply rooted underlying, hidden assumption that if I was not in some kind of pain, then certainly I was not doing anything worthwhile. In other words, if there is no struggle in what I was engaged in it was worthless(or I somehow figured that no progress was being made). Long story short, this deeply rooted(near-visceral) assumption resulted in my body body rejecting my doing some pretty important things. Like, even if I were to have been given hundreds of thousands of dollars, I would not have done them(in some particular cases). And of course, when you send your neurobiological system little to no signals of joy or reward in a certain context, what the heck else can one expect! This I'm sure has/had as one of its main constituents a lack of self-love; and here I thought that I had little issues with such a thing at this point. Hahah, I'm currently acutely aware this of course, and am always on the lookout for its multiple manifestations. I allow myself to 'be good at' things, to have fun during, and to not *have* to be in a state of war throughout the whole process.

    It’s validation.
    Building confidence in ability to do something special creates the result of validation.
    Do something special.
    Do it habitually.
    Get good at it.
    And even if no one cares that you got good at it, I guess it’s a little bummer that no one cares but, you did it. You’re validated.
    And that is the beginning of self love.

    Take care
