Danke! What a well thought out camping Disco 4! Now I drive a 2016 LR4 HSE Lux with all whistles and bells. I've been driving Land Rovers since 1973 when I bought an L88 (defender type), then a 1999 Disco II, a 2009 RR HSE sport. They are fine vehicles as long as you keep them clean and well maintained.
What a great setup and very German indeed! Brilliant use of space, and something quite similar for what I envisioned for mine in the future. Thanks for showcasing it! Cheers!
I changed my fuel filter yesterday having watched you last video. The old one was corroded and been there a few years!!! Another LR with main dealer service history!!! Like you I do my own servicing and repairs if possible. Thank you for doing these great videos.
Fantastic ideas and thank you for sharing. Love the philosophy of thinking / engineering through problems / opportunities rather than just throwing money at it and buying off the shelf solutions. Another great video! All best from the UK
I have to say, sometimes I'd like a camper van too, but with a Discovery, you are just so much more flexible, especially when you do get the chance to go off the beaten path. 🙋♀️ Vera
That bike carrier mod is off the chain! Didn't even know anything like that existed. I'm a mountain biker so I'm really tripping out over that. Your channel is awesome!
Great video, impressive Disco. Always much more interesting to see how someone works around these problems to create an individual and very useful adventure vehicle. Thanks all for sharing I'm sure you have inspired some Disco enthusiasts.
Again watching your video of the configurations is fun. I have a swing away spare tyre holder. The spare tyre space under the LR now holds two Nato cans (perfect fit) with a steel plate to rest them on that now is lifted by the spare tyre cable. That was fun to configure, I made two other similar arrangements for friends with LRs. Extra fuel is necessary for long trips to the desert where no services are available. Always entertaining to see what you come up with on your videos.
Thank you for showing someone else's LR on your site. It is good to see what others are doing also. Your channel is providing plenty of ideas. I think we are lucky in Australia, from what I understand from you, there are a lot more LR after-market items available here when compared with Germany. Though I must admit I bought some Lift Rods from America, it was nearly 50% cheaper than buying them here. I bought my ARB Bull-Bar and my sliding drawers second hand locally. I installed the Bull-Bar & drawers myself, along with a winch which I did buy new. I have to modify the side wings for the drawers to fit the contour of the LR3's wall trim. To lower the spare tyre I installed a socket and short extension permanently on the tyre winch bolt and I use a ratchet with another extension to reach it. The extension is a tight fit between the gap in the backrest of the third row seats (which left in, but permanently folded, In Australia I would have to have an engineer sign off on the removal of the third row seating & seatbelts and get a "modification Compliance Plate" installed. It was easier and cheaper (ie free) to leave the seats in. We also cannot have wheels protrude without being covered. You can do that with wider wheel flares. I jst fitted the tallest tyre on the 18" LR rims. They are a little wider, but still contained under the standard LR3 flares. I managed to fit the larger spare tyre under the car, I had to remove the plastic guard that surrounds it & lower the tyre pressure a lot to fit it in. Once in I pumped the tyre up. It will be a pain to lower it, but I am sure it can be done. Thankfully radial tyres do not go flat or puncture often, and they are very durable off-roading.
😃👍 I am sure in Germany you would have to have the 3rd row also signed off by our TÜV, so lets better not talk about that 😅. I would do exactly the same with an extension of the winch access, we might do that one anyway, great idea. We have some plans with the wheels on this car, but you have to wait for the video to come out hopefully. 🙋♀️ Vera

Amazing efficiency of use of space.. We just use a small single axle caravan for all that.. running extra fridges is also a battery issue. Batteries are a big deal I think for the Disco's. My D3 used to drain 352 mAmp when parked and locked! And I did not like the 90 AHour original battery because expensive to change after a failed alternator which will destroy it with a dead short as I discovered. I now use only a 20 AHour AGM (made in USA) with a bank of super capacitors to provide the cranking amps. I installed a 400 Amp fuse and 500 amp relay switched by the ignition in the starter / alternatior cable as I found 302 mA is the portion of the drain through the alternator when ignition is off!
Amazing Discovery!! Some really clever ideas, think I may borrow a few 😁Great job. Just really making me miss our holidays in our 90 now. Can't wait to get back over to Europe, we always have a great time when travelling in Germany. Stay safe. Tom from the UK.
Maybe a last comment regarding the bike rack... usually we have 4 full size bikes on it which brings this solution to its mechanical Limits... we talk about roughly 100kg in total. Especially offroad, which we did not test yet. So be careful in case you try yourself. We will probably secure the whole construction with a strap to one of the roof bars.
Accepting everything you say and with total respect for knowledge, I have a 1989 Toyota Landcruiser, in my hands for 21 years, albeit in Spain where wear and tear is minimised. No problems at all ever, given regular maintenance...a little grinding noise from the a/c compressor rectified relatively easily. LR are just a headache and always have been...look to the desert...do they run LR....noooo there is always a Toyoto on the horizon...are there multiples of Toyota specialists in the UK ?...nooooo...although there are many LR...because they keep going wrong...a good business decision 🤗
Like others who have commented, I too appreciate that these videos are in English. At the same time I'm slightly embarrassed that they need to be. Three years of German Language classes at school and all we did was torment the teachers... Equally, I recall my University friend Jan from Hamburg helping me with my English grammar. Shameful. LOL
Enjoying this video. Every time I see another configuration I think back on my arrangement. I had a Pinzgauer and when I got the LR I configured the LR to the similar way I did the pinz. I bought Front Runner drawer system rather than build my own mostly for expediency of configuration and a time frame to going camping that summer. It works well for me. I put a sleeping platform over the drawers and it matched well with the height of the fridge mounted between the second row seats. I put the seats down and have storage boxes over them to also match platform height. The boxes are removable so the seats will still be usable. It is fun to play with these vehicles, so many ways to configure them.

We will build up our Disco soon. Right now we are still in a complete lockdown. No traveling/camping is allowed. And with all mods on, the car uses a lot more diesel than normal. 👍🙋♀️ Vera
Great setup by your friend...an extension of your own setup from a few weeks ago...now if an LR could only fly 6000 km or so I could feel safe getting back to work😏...
