    Did you ever get a very high estimate from your service shop? Do you think you can trust them?
    Replacing the high pressure fuel pump on this LR3 was estimated to be a 4000€ repair with body off.
    We show you how we got it fixed for 40€ and some good luck.
    Enjoy the video.

      There is a drain fitting on the filter, put a pipe on it and slacken it to drain filter, did it make a mess when you took the filter off?

    I love my 2010 discovery 4 2.7 tdv6 mostly because of your fantastic videos. I love the way you explained the correlation of the low pressure fuel system to the high pressure system. That explains the sensor thinking the rail pressure is too high because of the difference between the two systems.

    I had the first version, Landrover Discovery. I had a noise near my feet. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the hydraulic pump. I think that was a A$ 2000.00 job under warranty. The noise was still there. I did my own investigation and found it to be the steering column seal where it goes through the firewall. One squirt of silicone fixed the noise!!! The motto of this story and your video is "learn how to do your own maintenance".

    Another great vid, much appreciated guys. Jag dealers same in the UK. Bought my XJ, with 25k miles, secondhand from the original supplying dealer, full dealer service history, 3 annual stamps. I'm sure the fuel filter was the original factory installed one, as was the air filter. I do all my own servicing, least I know its been done. Also I use a K&N air filter & as long as its correctly oiled then it'll filter better & at higher flow rates than the paper one.

    We have driven our D3 to 42 countries on two expeditions. London to Cape Town and London to Melbourne. We have been to many LR dealerships. I have been cheated in two countries by LR dealerships. 1. London Battersea and 2. Melbourne City Land Rover. 🥲In London I paid for a diffs and transmission fluid service on early maintenance cycle. They never did any of them and that is an expensive service. It also possibly cost me a torque converter later on. In Melbourne they changed the high pressure pump when the low pressure pump was the fault. Zero confidence in LR dealerships to maintain these vehicles. Both times I thought I can trust these dealerships rather than do it myself. Big mistake. Great video, keep it up. 👍👍

    Fabians D3 need a complete rust proofing very soon. You've to replace the filters once a year to be on the safe side. KN filters are more open and must be cleaned with some special cleaner. KN filters last for 100,000 km, but not all engines are satisfied with KN: higher fuel consumption and more noisy. In heavy rain the snorkel sucks water into the filter and will damage it. That can be avoided by turning the scoop / air intake 180°, and it points to the rear. Oil change in the differentials would be a good idea. On the gearboxes it's more complicated. Good video.

    Thank you for a very well put together video. I feel I need to warn you that the paper air filter element does not allow through as much air as the K&N gauze. I had a problem with a Volvo D3 boat engine that I work on - essentially the engine was not reaching peak rpm & this was the problem.

    great videos.I recently bought my 07 discovery 3 se tdv6. it has 147000 miles and up until its last service from the garage i bought it from it was always land rover main dealer serviced watching your videos certainly helps with not only maintanence but also checking and changing things that may have been missed. i currently have the epb screem but not all the time only occasionally.the box that governs the epb looks well maintained and all the cables look clean etc going to try changing the rear discks pads and shoes and re callibrating the shoes hopefully this does the trick. hopefully :-|

    Excellent video, one comment regarding the volume measurement - I couldnt see that anyone else has mentioned it, but you are not measuring the volume the pump can deliver using your method, you are only measuring the volume that can be delivered through the schrader valve at the system pressure, and add to this you have not stopped any back flow to the tank so you will be missing this also. If you want to measure the volume the pump can deliver then you need to disconnect the low pressure feed to the high pressure pump and measure the flow rate out of this hose.

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  Год назад

      The procedure is out of the LR workshop manual. It needs to be measured this way in order to be able to compare to the LR absolute numbers in the manual. Christian

    Oil everywhere. know that problem, however careful you are it always happens. Enjoyed your delivery Chrstian, very entertaining. Dealers are basically dishonest, so no surprise the fuel filter has never been changed. Our Disco 3 is a 2009, owned from new & has been brilliant, however can't help feeling things might be about to change. Still drives well but random warning lights keep coming & going which is a problem when the MOT comes around.

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  3 года назад

      👍 Those warning lights can tick you off. But often it's an easy repair if you are familiar with your car. We always look at the Disco Uk forum for tips. Their site is linked in almost every video from us. And at one point in the life of a Discovery a diagnostic tool is uttermost importance. 😅 Otherwise those bings and bongs and 3 Amigos, how we call them, are going to drive you nuts🙋‍♀️ Vera

    I had the same issue, the car was going in to limp mode constantly and first thing I did I replaced the fuel filter and the damn water sensor screw broke off and it was leaking diesel everywhere, then I bought an whole fuel filter assembly including the a new filter and sensor which was only a few euros more than a plain filter and thankfully it solved the problem and the car drove perfectly.

    Changed my lpfp with a new OEM unit from LRDirect; 1.35Liters pr minute, 4psi at the scradervalve at idle, 1psi at 2000rpm. This is with a new original LR fuelfilter and filterbracket also. Pump is running at 2.7-3.0Amps.

    Awesome video! Reminds me of the episode of Wheeler Dealers where Edd fixed that expensive Audi TT gearbox problem with a single bolt. Also reminded me when and why I decided to switch to independent garages here: I had an odd electrical problem years ago (Chevy Cruze back then), asked about it during regular service and the fellow behind the counter said"Well, we could TRY replacing the EGR valve and see if that works." I figured just TRYING a 700eur repair felt a bit unreasonable...

    Hi guys! Another incredibly useful video! A friend of mine just has similar issues on his 2008 D3. I'll share this with him now. I don't understand how such a nice vehicle could have been so poorly maintained. Really embarrassing for that LR dealership. My 2005 doesn't have so much corrosion underneath. I also change my fuel filter (and all other filters) every oil change, at 10k km. I use Mann or Mahle brand filters, except for the oil filter, for which I use genuine LR. Cheers!

    The great David Vizard tested the K&N filters way back and found that, despite their seemingly large pore size, actually cleaned the air at least as well as the standard paper element. The only proviso was that you should use the correct K&N filter oil to retain the dust attracting sticky surface.
