Tip for the guy winching you out. When he whinches cars out that are properly stuck (but it's even better to always do this). Open the bonnet and have it opened up, this way it is a shield when something breaks in the shackle or steal wire rop and comes flying back to his car.
I will certainly try to get round to it but basically I take all the wheels off and throughly jet's everything out and clean and re-grease the areas that need it
Having a Disco 4 is great, learning to drive it is better... Mind there is somewhere a knob named "terrain response" 😉. Always put something like a tree branch on the cable when winching ! And don't touch the cable without gloves.
How do you find the tyres for road noise. Yours don’t look too aggressive. I’ve upgraded ours to 265/65/18 on compomotive PD1881, but went with ATs in the end, as I was concerned MTs would be noisy, slow stopping and a bit ‘drifty’ on bends. 😁
the tyres are quite Noisy and the most aggressive I could fine in the size I needed. But the D4 is very quiet and well insulated so you don't really hear them with the windows up
Don't you have the rear locking diff?.....Aside from ground clearance . It's always a good idea to check the water depth with a long stick first. ;) Looks like a lot of fun though!
Yes Rear Diff lock on this one just got stuck on its belly, and for the water depth I 110% expected it to get stuck but thought it would be funny to let the GF have a go
That's what I was expecting when the guy was walking back to the Defender I used to work where the Navy tested arresting cables and when they snap there's no running away :(
We had this debate on the day with the guy using the winch. Apparently not needed on nylon winch ropes. (I have no knowledge on the subject just what he said)

I have the same rims (the only ones that fit D4 in 18") with BFG AT KM2 👍

No lift kit of any kind of this it’s just running the standard LR air suspension in raised setting

Great vid but can’t help but notice it’s in standard height not off road which would stop the red discovery4 bottoming out and getting stuck
No this was in the off-road height it’s where it spends most of its time 🤣
Should look at how you do super xstended mode for the mud holes that will help alot
Once the Discovery 4 to drive in off-road conditions, the Discovery 4 will go to the junkyard or you need to buy another one.
Don’t be ridiculous, mine is on 240,000 miles and gets off roader like this all the time around the farm and local forests where I need to work.
What tyres/rim size are you running compared with the Defender that pulled you?
Mine are 255/55 19 comforser mud tyres not sure on the disco. Less of a tyre issue on that occasion just ran out of ground clearance on the D4
So the Defender just passes like that but Disco needs a tow?
yes but remember the disco is full or electronics and lockers and the Defender is not.
