Seeing as I've been updating you on the story as you go along, I'll try to give an explanation for this as well. As I mentioned in your last video, Fly High is the prequel to the Nightmare series. We see the girls are living together in what looks like a school. Jiu finds a spider in the yard and captures it. Yoohyeon mischievously kills the spider and releases the spider's curse. We see that Sua has been adventuring in the forest and brings Siyeon with her only for them to return cursed. Gahyeon is cursed in her sleep while Handong is cursed while bathing. Yoohyeon, Dami and Jiu begin to see that the members are changing. Yoohyeon ventures into the forest but comes upon an evil mirror that corrupts her. Dami finds a protection spell that puts her to sleep (until Good Night). Jiu sensing that she is alone runs off but ultimately decides to stay behind to help release the members from the spider's curse. Not sure where you're from, but if you are in the LA area, they just added another night to the tour so you can still find a way in! If you're in the SF area, I think someone on the Facebook InSomnia group is giving away their ticket since they cant make it. I'd like to suggest adding "No More" to your reactions list. It doesn't have an actual MV but it is arguable their most metal song they have.

Here is an explanation of the story: Jiu caught a spider in the backyard of their school and kept it in a glass jar, but corrupted Yoohyeon killed it with a magnifying glass which caused all of them to get cursed one by one by the Spider and became a nightmare. Again there is a LOT of details in this music video like colors and objects that mean stuff. All of them started experiencing their nightmares and at the end jiu as the leader ran out and closed the gate so that the nightmare won’t spread and so that’s how they became the ghosts trapped in the hotel. So then I’m chase me the spider lady wants to capture them so that’s why she send the ghost hunter to the hotel. Looking forward for more reacting and your list of songs sounds like a really good list 😁

There was a letter from worried parents to their child, wondering why the child hadn’t contacted them in weeks and hoping all was well (i think it was implied that their child was a boarding school student), and then a diary entry from their child about a ‘strange experience’ that had happened to them and their friends, which i guess is depicted in the mv. id imagine the child is probably jiu? their teen daughter i guess lmao since she is the main in the mv, but could also be yoohyeon since she seems to be the first one to act weirdly

I don’t comment much but I’m really enjoying watching your experience with Dreamcatcher. I still know just about nothing regarding k-pop in general but these women have had me me completely hooked for a bit over a year since I stumbled on them.
Fly High is one of a handful of their non intro/instrumental/Japanese songs that isn't written or produced by LEEZ and Ollounder but, instead by SEION--who hasn't written anything else for them. That said, I still think it's amazing. And yes, the story is definitely a prequel to Chase Me. Given that you like this song, I have a strong feeling you will especially like You and I, Full Moon and Wind Blows when you get to them. The KCON performance of You and I is what made me an Insomnia so you definitely want to watch that one.
Thanks for the video, it is actually a prequel. It's actually the name of their EP. It shows and sounds the brighter side of Dreamcatcher with a hint of darkness as they become nightmares. Hence why it's prequel. Really love their Seven Spirit's acoustic concert version of "Fly High". It's one of my favorite performances of theirs ever. I was hoping you would click on it. It's where my appreciation for JiU's voice started. The whole performance really impressed me and shot up "Fly High" up my song's list. Siyeon has the nickname of wolf/wolfie. She has really intense charisma and her stare is deadly. Everyone feels that way once they get into Dreamcatcher. It's always better late than never. Too bad you couldn't make it to their concert. I really hope you listen to Dreamcatcher's whole discography and not just the ones you mentioned in your list. Even their intro and outro tracks are soo good. Their online concert vods are on youtube I believe. They're Into The Night and Dystopia, Seven Spirits, Crossraods Utopia and Crossroads Dystopia (2 concerts), Halloween Midnight Circus, and their Apocalypse Save US Mini Concert. My favorites are Seven Spirits and Crossroads. Really recommend them. They're all great. If you can't find them, let me know. I can give them to you. Also if you want more pop/rock early 2000's nostalgia, maybe give Day6 and Rolling Quartz a listen to once you get through Dreamcatcher.

Also Gahyeon and Handong never had that much lines around the beginning of DC's time line, it was unti Handong left for China because she felt like she wasn't able to shine in DC, so she went to participate in some Chinese music elimination show. And cus of covid she was stuck there for "scream" and "boca" comeback, but made it in time for "odd eye". Around "scream" Era is when Gahyeon started getting more lines. When Handong returned, she absorbed some of the members lines for Scream and Boca and she has more lines from then on to the present.

Fly High was a sleeper hit, a lot of people didn't like it much when it first came out, idk why, it hits that absolutely perfect pop rock nostalgia spot for me personally. This and What are growers that flew under the radar for some reason, what in particular still gets overlooked a lot (the string orchestra in what is heavenly). The next song is You and I, it's not one of my favorites since I find it weirdly empty feeling in the chorus but it was their breakout song and its good. I recommend this new unplugged concert performance because of how much they've grown (Gah looks annoyed but her in ear was acting up the entire concert) ruclips.net/video/EdR5rMwhnsw/видео.html. Siyeon can be pretty intimidating since she doesn't talk much in interviews and didn't smile a lot before but she's a baby and cries at the end of every concert. She's started smiling more recently to avoid looking scary. She's also the most likely to directly call saesangs and antis out along with Dami. SuA and Gahyeon come across as aggressive but they're very sensitive.
Loving your journey with Deukae so far! Fly High sounds the most typical pop but you can definitely feel the hints of sadness/longing/nostalgia despite the cheeriness (which perfectly fits their prequel storyline for the MV). I wasn’t following Kpop closely when this was released but I can’t believe they didn’t blow up more with Fly High. Also as someone who biases Sua I’m excited to see more people bias her too! 😊

I want to recommend Pentagon, you like pop songs and Dreamcatcher so maybe you'll like their songs too: -Daisy -Do or Not -Shine -Dr.BeBe (darker than the other songs on this list) -Basquiat (rock song and the video is so good) If you like these I can recommend more from them. Their discography is so good and they produce their own songs. They're worth checking out and they deserve more recognition. They usually have rock sound in their pop songs EDIT: they do other genres too for example: -Runaway -Like This -Sha la la -Feeling like Also their b-sides are so good but I recommended the ones with the MV for first reactions.

Happyface/Dreamcatcher Company never block videos that they have sole copyright on, but the Korean networks can be a problem. Their music show performances are often blocked, but since these are old songs you should be OK. Zaty Farhani's lyric videos are always badly translated since she's basically a scammer who couldn't care less about the songs. She gets her videos up on YT as fast as possible to get views so her video shows up first when you search. She takes advertising money that should be going to Dreamcatcher by attaching a short piece of music that she has the copyright for at the end of the MV. YT's policy on multiple copyright claims is to split the revenue. She isn't the only lyric video creator that does this so if you see one that has anything in it besides the group's song don't use it. Lyric videos on the whole are badly translated. If your cheeks are hurting from smiling it just means you don't smile enough in your daily life. After you've watched Dreamcatcher for some time that will no longer be a problem. Endless Night is JRock and was made with well known JRock musicians. I've never really understood why people think their Kpop songs have JRock elements because all I hear is mostly classic American Rock fortified with Metal guitar riffs and given much more emphasis on melody which is a hallmark of mainstream Kpop. You'll really notice the difference when you hear Endless Night. That was the song that brought American metalhead reactors to Dreamcatcher.

If I could make a suggestion, perhaps you would want to go through all their title tracks first, then you can dive into the B-sides going from album to album so that you can see/hear their progress over the years. Dreamcatcher B-sides are masterpieces. Just know that you will get to hear all sorts of genres. Might want to slot in the fun/casual vids in between the album listens (would recommend starting with the "this is..." series by the channel insomnicsy) or can also check out their covers (there's tons of them). Of course you can go in any order that you like, I would still watch it anyways lol! Would never complain about more dc content!

Fly High was a sleeper hit, a lot of people didn't like it much when it first came out, idk why, it hits that absolutely perfect pop rock nostalgia spot for me personally. This and What are growers that flew under the radar for some reason, what in particular still gets overlooked a lot (the string orchestra in what is heavenly). The next song is You and I, it's not one of my favorites since I find it weirdly empty feeling in the chorus but it was their breakout song and its good. I recommend this new unplugged concert performance because of how much they've grown (Gah looks annoyed but her in ear was acting up the entire concert) ruclips.net/video/EdR5rMwhnsw/видео.html.
Siyeon can be pretty intimidating since she doesn't talk much in interviews and didn't smile a lot before but she's a baby and cries at the end of every concert. She's started smiling more recently to avoid looking scary. She's also the most likely to directly call saesangs and antis out along with Dami. SuA and Gahyeon come across as aggressive but they're very sensitive.
For me, it was much lighter than Chase Me and Good Night and that was why I didn't particularly like it.
Loving your journey with Deukae so far! Fly High sounds the most typical pop but you can definitely feel the hints of sadness/longing/nostalgia despite the cheeriness (which perfectly fits their prequel storyline for the MV). I wasn’t following Kpop closely when this was released but I can’t believe they didn’t blow up more with Fly High.
Also as someone who biases Sua I’m excited to see more people bias her too! 😊

Yes you’re right. This is the prequel to everything happened in CM & GN. Yoohyeon burning the spider has incurred some sort of spider spirit wrath and therefore got them cursed to be trapped in nightmares. In GN, they managed to break free by trading places with the guy and now they’re roaming around the real world

Happyface/Dreamcatcher Company never block videos that they have sole copyright on, but the Korean networks can be a problem. Their music show performances are often blocked, but since these are old songs you should be OK. Zaty Farhani's lyric videos are always badly translated since she's basically a scammer who couldn't care less about the songs. She gets her videos up on YT as fast as possible to get views so her video shows up first when you search. She takes advertising money that should be going to Dreamcatcher by attaching a short piece of music that she has the copyright for at the end of the MV. YT's policy on multiple copyright claims is to split the revenue. She isn't the only lyric video creator that does this so if you see one that has anything in it besides the group's song don't use it. Lyric videos on the whole are badly translated.
If your cheeks are hurting from smiling it just means you don't smile enough in your daily life. After you've watched Dreamcatcher for some time that will no longer be a problem.
Endless Night is JRock and was made with well known JRock musicians. I've never really understood why people think their Kpop songs have JRock elements because all I hear is mostly classic American Rock fortified with Metal guitar riffs and given much more emphasis on melody which is a hallmark of mainstream Kpop. You'll really notice the difference when you hear Endless Night. That was the song that brought American metalhead reactors to Dreamcatcher.

Fly High and What never really resonated with me and never added them to my playlist. Not sure why. I can appreciate how good they were tho. You and I and Boca are my favorites.
If I could make a suggestion, perhaps you would want to go through all their title tracks first, then you can dive into the B-sides going from album to album so that you can see/hear their progress over the years. Dreamcatcher B-sides are masterpieces. Just know that you will get to hear all sorts of genres.
Might want to slot in the fun/casual vids in between the album listens (would recommend starting with the "this is..." series by the channel insomnicsy) or can also check out their covers (there's tons of them). Of course you can go in any order that you like, I would still watch it anyways lol! Would never complain about more dc content!
