True, they are just using the "Mercedes sourced engine" Gimmick to be able to reuse the 40 year old Engine again and again. Literally their entire lineup uses this engine, from Gurkha to Toofan, from Traveller to even a 50 seater Bus. Even their new Urbania which is supposed to be a premium van with its own brand image, reaching prices of 30 Lakh, offers the same engine and absolutely boring and ancient interiors.

Force is associated with service vehicles and that brings down its aspirational value. They would need rebranding to appeal to indian public looking for status and aspirational value with performance. To do that they must change things like: 1 Their Logo needs to be changed from a simple F to something better a logo representing Force a horse or an elephant could be amazing or rhino anything that represent powerful movement 2 Their designs and color schemes, There cars must stand out and as hardcore tough brand like force they must have a bit aggressive design 3 They need to have better creature comforts and brand ambassadors like sports personalities 4 Just like how Royal enfield changed their showrooms with better aesthetical decor they also need to change their looks and separate them clearly from their service vehicles. 5 Their cars should look completely different from their aspirational cars

The Force Gurkha Xtreme (140 bhp, 320 Nm turbodiesel engine) would be amazing in BS6 form, and actually become comparable to the Thar on power and torque. Force Motors needs to expand its dealer and aftersales network as soon as possible. I personally still like the 90 bhp Gurkha, and believe that it might be more practical than even the 5 door Jimny. The Jimny might be an amazing off-roader, but I wish Maruti would not have made it this small in 5 seater form, because the 208 litre boot is way too small, and the interior room is not that good for people close to 6 feet tall (headroom is a bit poor). I still want the Jimny to stay in our market, albeit I also want the Thar and Gurkha to succeed, which is a tough call.
@@KarmicVagabond probably also because they couldn't justify the required investment (if any) for bringing that configuration upto BS6 standards. I do wish they'd provided the 115 hp and 350 Nm version of the 2.6 diesel as well, though. That would've been a cracker in my opinion.
