Thank you bhai for making this video. Main problems with e rikshaw 1. Bad suspension causes discomfort to passengers, especially on concrete roads 2. Irregular driving, sometimes they drive in top lane and slow the whole traffic 3. Cheap price than other e rikshaw almost half make it first choice in 1st time buyers 4. Bad build quality
Sudden turns is the biggest menace according to me. You can never be sure when they'll suddenly pull over looking for customer or they'll simply take right into the main lane because the slower lane is just slow or patched and thus jerky.

I'm from Jorhat city of Assam. Since the beginning of the e-rickshaw trend, not a single e-rickshaw has been permitted to sale, operate or even pass through our city. All thanks to the local administration, public & the auto-drivers who all resisted this menace. The auto-drivers were the frontline protestors against the introduction of these e-rickshaws as these would snatch their livelihood income of autos. Hence, today many towns of Assam are dealing with accidents, traffic jams & even gundagardi of e-rickshaw drivers, while our Jorhat city is peacefully operating it's roads without these dirty menace.

Today E rickshaws become a basic need for Delhi, The metro does not directly reach home, school, colleagues, office, etc need an e-rickshaw for your nearby places. The government should focus on managing this people, but you can't say it is a curse

Once an e rickshaw made a sharp turn cutting 2 fingers of friend's left foot 2 weeks before is CAT exam, he was in soo much pain, scored way less then expected and now still waiting for next CAT exam this year.
I was living a happy and normal life. One day on a rainy morning my father left home for dukan, as he used to do. It was very early and I was still in bed. Suddenly I woke up by my mom's voice. A person told us on the phone, my father was caught in an accident and now he's in a local hospital. We rushed and saw him lying on a bed with some serious fractures and injuries. Actually an E-rickshaw driver made a illegal turn on the highway without looking for any approaching vehicles. At that same time my father was coming from the same road. We saw on the CCTV footage, his motorcycle struck on the side of the e-rickshaw and his body flew 30-40 meters away from the spot, his chest, head.. whole body was badly damaged by the road 😭. Soon we took him to the better hospitals. But it was too late. On the way to the hospital he passed away. At that time I was only 14. Now, three years have passed and I am 17 right now and it is still very hard to move on 😔🥀

My Father also driving e rikshaw for a year but my father is introvert. My father hardly earn 500 rs per day because of dadagiri of other driver.😢 And rapid growth of e rikshaw. Location Haridwar
Problems:- 1. To save battery, they turn off headlights, even when they are coming wrong side. 2. Outside metro stations, they fight violently with other drivers, and even they pull passengers by holding them to make them sit in rickshaw and autos. 3. As there is no proper cost per kilometer, they charge very high amounts, like 100 ruppes for just 1.5 kms etc.

I travel on E Rikshaw everyday to my Office. One hidden problem with E Rikshaws is their design, or lack of it, especially the suspension. This is a huge health hazard not talked about. The back problems arising out of it accumulates over time. I don't know how ARAI passes their design. Just imagine, lakhs of people travelling on E Rikshawa are gradually accumulating back problems. Someone needs to look at it.

In Assam, e-rickshaws have become a significant menace on the roads, contributing to severe traffic congestion. On highways, their low speed of 20-30 km/h is a major factor in accidents.
They are not meant to be driven on the highways in the first place!! Those who drive four wheelers and two wheelers need a valid license and insurance but these rickshaws and their drivers don't have either!!
So great that someone is pointing these things out. Me and my friend are designers and researchers, and we worked on the whole eco-system mapping of E-Rickshaws, finding out quite similar focus points which you covered. A big regulatory gap is affecting a lot of things related to these rickshaws which includes the drivers, their income, licensing, the rickshaw itself, traffic, electricity theft, charging stations etc (countless factors). Really appreciate someone making a video about this.
Point to be remembered:- there are too many e-rickshaws because of unemployment, people need money and money does not come for free. 80% of the e-rickshaw drivers are of labour or lower middle class and after lockdown these peoples income decreased. No-one wants to listen to insults, but these people face it everyday, just because of some money. I am not saying that all these people are innocent, we need to take action against reckless drivers, but the majority of the accidents happened due to poor maintenance of roads.
Yes! The last part is very important to mention. As someone who generally commutes with bikes/cars, these e rikshaws may seem like a nuisance on the road, and some rightfully are. But more often than not, these rikshaws are very useful for an average person. They are clean, small, have space to carry more people and goods. If it wasn't for the failure of government in being proactive, e rikshaws would have been one of the best trends in automotive sector.
@@daddyboss557they r way cleaner than autos (auto engines r usually not maintained well and even CNG autos can emit visible smoke). With small battery size... Cheaper ones use recycled lead acid batteries and the costlier ones use LiFePO4

No metro, no proper bus service like Europe, japan has. People don’t have cars like USA. no footpaths. One single road is used by walking people, cars, cyclists, bikes, Wenders, gup chup walas. No proper footpath, no proper cycle lanes, no proper road marking, big big black holes on road as potholes. God help india for being vishwaguru.
Dont blame everything on the PM, he cant alone clean up the People's mindset and mess created by them. India is a huge country with huge population, at the same time India is Union of States. Its not possible to clean up the mess till all political parties and CMs of all state have a positive will to solve these problems.

We don't have E rickshaws here in Thane but I went to Uttarakhand for a trip. Sitting on the opposite side with a heavy bag is a great way to test how strong your legs are. The acceleration is good enough to throw you out.
In Varanasi e rickshaw driver recently went on strike against the Traffic Police new law of setting up the route in the city and assigning e rikshaw in that designated routes only. And while they went on strike our city was literally traffic free. Currently there are different zones divided and rikshaw is being operated in their routes only let’s see how long this continues.

E-rickshaw width is small to balance center of mass. There are too many cases where this E-rickshaw turned upside down. In my village, some people died due to these accidents. Also There is no soccer in it .

Just few hours ago a drunk E-Rikshaw driver just about to kill my sis at Ravidas Gate. Chalane wale toh local hi hote hai. Tourist dekhte hi loot leta hai. Route divide hone se aur bhi lootne laga hai.
Totally agree extreme menace. A car costs anywhere from 6 to 30 lakhs but these riks are way cheaper and devour the road space for car drivers. Also a huge menace to road safety.
There are a few now. I have seen them in Bengaluru. But thankfully they are from a reputed company like Mahindra and look sturdy, not flimsy like how it was shown in the video.
We don't have E-rikshaw in city, but it's available in villages. I had a great experience it's cheap and flexible routes, it just needs a bit of regulation
e rickshaw in small cities like mine are good but whenever i go to nagpur man they always take my nerve it feels i came to jungle looking at trafic condition
During my two-months stay in Noida, I felt that E-Rickshaw provides excellent last-mile connectivity, something I miss in Bangalore. It also keeps the cost of Auto in check.
@@Priyaykanth2 you do not have any safety feature in cng autos too.........these e-rickshaw has very low running speed and so the only danger is getting hit by another high speed vehicle and in that case no auto is safe

True that "sawari se jyada riksha" and they have started to exploit too, tie up with other rikshas and deny entry to other area riksha and then charge fixed fare and carry a minimum of 5. Painfully choking the city
Today I was driving in my city. There was a lot of traffic, so much so that we could only move 100m forward in 30 minutes. Turns out, the reason was because e rickshaws were constantly diving into and out of traffic. Another one was when we cleared out the traffic, when we were going about 40 km/h, in one divider place, one such e-rickshaw literally jumped into our lane without any horns or such. I had to swerve and almost hit a family. The e rickshaw driver was balls-deep smoking cigarettes while driving. Even my grandmother and aunts have suffered from e rickshaw, just like in the video; they were travelling, and the driver took such a bad lane that it fell over, and they had to go to hospital (thankfully they recovered.) But yeah, after all this, we just stopped anyone and everyone we knew - friends, family, coworkers, neighbours - from going to e rickshaw. Better to harm the planet a bit more (CNG Auto) and stay alive than die by the hands of some drug addict.
The drivers of E-rickshaws are not even worthy to be called drivers. I was behind an E-rickshaw riding a bike on a state highway and all of a sudden he decided to took a sharp U- turn on a busy road, I applied brakes but my bike slided and by the time my front tire hitted him the E-rickshaw was already in a horizontal direction on the road and due to his angular momentum and impact of my bike I hitted him in the section between the driver and the passenger seat and the rickshaw toppled and rolled over. Luckily there were no passangers in it but the driver got serious injuries. It was not my mistake he turned it out of nowhere on a busy road with any indication but luckily i didnt even fell from my bike. I was riding a bullet and the build quality and stability of the bike saved me. These kind of people dont die alone, They take 3-4 more lives with them due to carelessness.

Besides the schemes you mentioned, my househelp told me that there is another scheme that if the e-rickshaw was purchased in name of a woman, the govt would give additional subsidy of 30k-40k (the intention being that there is an asset in the name of woman of the house). Her husband got the e-rickshaw for 70k when market price was 1.1L

I'm from West Bengal. My family and I were traveling in a car on a congested road. Suddenly, a toto (e-rickshaw) tried to forcefully enter our lane and overtake us, without using an indicator or horn, despite there being no space at all. Due to this, the front bumper and the entire section between the headlight and wheels were ripped off from our car. Nowadays, traveling doesn’t even feel safe. The roads are filled with e-rickshaws, and their slow speeds only add to the traffic congestion.

I am from Silchar, Assam and during Durga Pooja time, many banks and financial institutions launched offer for E Rickshaws and now there are more number of E rickshaws in Silchar as compared to last last few months.
I feel these e-rickshaws tell us one thing and that is how bad the unemployment scenario is is in India right now. Peechle mahine Assam mei ek state government recruitment exam hua tha aur woh exam dene 11 lakh log aaye the. Guwahati mei poore din bahut bhayankar traffic jam hua tha. Mujhe apne kaam par jaane ke liye ek ghanta lag gaya tha... Wahi karne ke liye mujhe roj 15 se 20 minute lagte hai. Great info. Your take is to the point here. If possible try to do an extensive research on menace caused by school vans mostly Suzuki Eeco on Delhi roads. They drive fast and rash, they don't follow traffic rules, take more number of kids as per rule, frequently indulge in fight with others, mostly rude and always ready to fight. In some places where there are more than one or two schools together, the traffic condition becomes disastrous there causing hours of traffic jams and other inconveniences. I live in Jaipur outskirts, in a peaceful place, I usually avoid going in the city as I hate too much of traffic, noise, pollution and congestion, but I have to go to railway station to pick and drop someone in my car, then I realize that how much poorly our cities are managed, these e rickshaw drivers are total reckless, no traffic sense no any rules and regulations, these rickshaws making our congested cities even more congested, our cities have become more polluted and dirty after these rickshaws, infact these drivers make foreign tourists uncomfortable, immediate action is required 😷😵
All three wheelers should be gradually replaced with Nano or Bajaj Qute like options. Auto/Rickshaw are not safe by design. Moreover auto drivers never follow traffic rules, drive in wrong side, take sudden u-turns, block bike lanes and think of themselves as 2 wheeler instead of driving in lane like a Car.

What I mean to say is that driving on the left half of a service road that is on the right side of a highway is legal (😁 too many sides). Or at least, I believe it should be legal.
That service road is for vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Every highway/flyover has service roads on either side. That e-rickshaw was definitely on the wrong side. It should've been on the service road to the left of the flyover.

The purpose of service roads is that residential traffic trying to join a highway can do easily without having to take a round about route trying to be on the "left side" of the highway. This is only possible if a service lane allows its traffic to flow in the direction that is opposite to the flow in the adjacent highway lane. In other words, we should treat service roads as we treat any normal roads that are without dividers. Instead, we in India treat service roads as extension lanes to the main highway. I know that my explanation here was a hurried one. Please let me know if I need to clarify that.

This enables drivers to easily cross across to the other side of the highway without having to go a long distance just to travel to a point that is directly opposite but otherwise would have been blocked by the highway. One more use of such under-passes (I think that's what you're calling U-turns) is that when there's too much traffic (jam) on one side, some of it can made to flow to the other side. In other words, like a pressure valve on a cooker.

Main problems with e rikshaw
1. Bad suspension causes discomfort to passengers, especially on concrete roads
2. Irregular driving, sometimes they drive in top lane and slow the whole traffic
3. Cheap price than other e rikshaw almost half make it first choice in 1st time buyers
4. Bad build quality
1.occupied half road causing traffic.
2. 80% do intoxication
3. 60% uses neckband while driving
4. Overload the goods and passanger
5. Slow causing traffic
6. Sudden turning without any indicator.

Sudden turns is the biggest menace according to me. You can never be sure when they'll suddenly pull over looking for customer or they'll simply take right into the main lane because the slower lane is just slow or patched and thus jerky.

I'm from Jorhat city of Assam. Since the beginning of the e-rickshaw trend, not a single e-rickshaw has been permitted to sale, operate or even pass through our city. All thanks to the local administration, public & the auto-drivers who all resisted this menace. The auto-drivers were the frontline protestors against the introduction of these e-rickshaws as these would snatch their livelihood income of autos. Hence, today many towns of Assam are dealing with accidents, traffic jams & even gundagardi of e-rickshaw drivers, while our Jorhat city is peacefully operating it's roads without these dirty menace.
Good thing y'all were saved from the menace. In Guwahati, aji kali besi E-rickshaw ahi goise. The number of E-rickshaws is increasing so much that we have started to face similar accidents as well.
Definitely some legal action is required to be taken for such action of local bodies

Once an e rickshaw made a sharp turn cutting 2 fingers of friend's left foot 2 weeks before is CAT exam, he was in soo much pain, scored way less then expected and now still waiting for next CAT exam this year.
I was living a happy and normal life. One day on a rainy morning my father left home for dukan, as he used to do.
It was very early and I was still in bed. Suddenly I woke up by my mom's voice. A person told us on the phone, my father was caught in an accident and now he's in a local hospital. We rushed and saw him lying on a bed with some serious fractures and injuries.
Actually an E-rickshaw driver made a illegal turn on the highway without looking for any approaching vehicles. At that same time my father was coming from the same road. We saw on the CCTV footage, his motorcycle struck on the side of the e-rickshaw and his body flew 30-40 meters away from the spot, his chest, head.. whole body was badly damaged by the road 😭. Soon we took him to the better hospitals. But it was too late. On the way to the hospital he passed away.
At that time I was only 14. Now, three years have passed and I am 17 right now and it is still very hard to move on 😔🥀

3. As there is no proper cost per kilometer, they charge very high amounts, like 100 ruppes for just 1.5 kms etc.
Got into accident 2 times with e-rickshaw. First one was a sudden turn in a highway by the driver. It's been 3 years and haven't recovered from the damage. Live with the pain everyday.

I travel on E Rikshaw everyday to my Office. One hidden problem with E Rikshaws is their design, or lack of it, especially the suspension. This is a huge health hazard not talked about. The back problems arising out of it accumulates over time. I don't know how ARAI passes their design. Just imagine, lakhs of people travelling on E Rikshawa are gradually accumulating back problems. Someone needs to look at it.

In Assam, e-rickshaws have become a significant menace on the roads, contributing to severe traffic congestion. On highways, their low speed of 20-30 km/h is a major factor in accidents.
They are not meant to be driven on the highways in the first place!! Those who drive four wheelers and two wheelers need a valid license and insurance but these rickshaws and their drivers don't have either!!

A big regulatory gap is affecting a lot of things related to these rickshaws which includes the drivers, their income, licensing, the rickshaw itself, traffic, electricity theft, charging stations etc (countless factors).

Point to be remembered:- there are too many e-rickshaws because of unemployment, people need money and money does not come for free. 80% of the e-rickshaw drivers are of labour or lower middle class and after lockdown these peoples income decreased. No-one wants to listen to insults, but these people face it everyday, just because of some money. I am not saying that all these people are innocent, we need to take action against reckless drivers, but the majority of the accidents happened due to poor maintenance of roads.

Yes! The last part is very important to mention. As someone who generally commutes with bikes/cars, these e rikshaws may seem like a nuisance on the road, and some rightfully are. But more often than not, these rikshaws are very useful for an average person. They are clean, small, have space to carry more people and goods. If it wasn't for the failure of government in being proactive, e rikshaws would have been one of the best trends in automotive sector.

We don't have E rickshaws here in Thane but I went to Uttarakhand for a trip. Sitting on the opposite side with a heavy bag is a great way to test how strong your legs are. The acceleration is good enough to throw you out.
In Varanasi e rickshaw driver recently went on strike against the Traffic Police new law of setting up the route in the city and assigning e rikshaw in that designated routes only. And while they went on strike our city was literally traffic free. Currently there are different zones divided and rikshaw is being operated in their routes only let’s see how long this continues.

Here in varanasi when e rickshaw was banned, the roads were seemed wider and empty, no traffic.

Totally agree extreme menace. A car costs anywhere from 6 to 30 lakhs but these riks are way cheaper and devour the road space for car drivers. Also a huge menace to road safety.

Today I was driving in my city. There was a lot of traffic, so much so that we could only move 100m forward in 30 minutes. Turns out, the reason was because e rickshaws were constantly diving into and out of traffic.
Another one was when we cleared out the traffic, when we were going about 40 km/h, in one divider place, one such e-rickshaw literally jumped into our lane without any horns or such. I had to swerve and almost hit a family. The e rickshaw driver was balls-deep smoking cigarettes while driving.
Even my grandmother and aunts have suffered from e rickshaw, just like in the video; they were travelling, and the driver took such a bad lane that it fell over, and they had to go to hospital (thankfully they recovered.)
But yeah, after all this, we just stopped anyone and everyone we knew - friends, family, coworkers, neighbours - from going to e rickshaw. Better to harm the planet a bit more (CNG Auto) and stay alive than die by the hands of some drug addict.
The drivers of E-rickshaws are not even worthy to be called drivers. I was behind an E-rickshaw riding a bike on a state highway and all of a sudden he decided to took a sharp U- turn on a busy road, I applied brakes but my bike slided and by the time my front tire hitted him the E-rickshaw was already in a horizontal direction on the road and due to his angular momentum and impact of my bike I hitted him in the section between the driver and the passenger seat and the rickshaw toppled and rolled over. Luckily there were no passangers in it but the driver got serious injuries. It was not my mistake he turned it out of nowhere on a busy road with any indication but luckily i didnt even fell from my bike. I was riding a bullet and the build quality and stability of the bike saved me. These kind of people dont die alone, They take 3-4 more lives with them due to carelessness.

In my city, all auto and rickshaw drivers tend to overcharge, especially at night, where the fares can be as much as four times higher.
Besides the schemes you mentioned, my househelp told me that there is another scheme that if the e-rickshaw was purchased in name of a woman, the govt would give additional subsidy of 30k-40k (the intention being that there is an asset in the name of woman of the house). Her husband got the e-rickshaw for 70k when market price was 1.1L

I'm from West Bengal. My family and I were traveling in a car on a congested road. Suddenly, a toto (e-rickshaw) tried to forcefully enter our lane and overtake us, without using an indicator or horn, despite there being no space at all. Due to this, the front bumper and the entire section between the headlight and wheels were ripped off from our car.
Nowadays, traveling doesn’t even feel safe. The roads are filled with e-rickshaws, and their slow speeds only add to the traffic congestion.
In Ahmedabad there is no crowd of e rickshaws from like other cities like Patna, Lucknow....

I am from Silchar, Assam and during Durga Pooja time, many banks and financial institutions launched offer for E Rickshaws and now there are more number of E rickshaws in Silchar as compared to last last few months.
I feel these e-rickshaws tell us one thing and that is how bad the unemployment scenario is is in India right now. Peechle mahine Assam mei ek state government recruitment exam hua tha aur woh exam dene 11 lakh log aaye the. Guwahati mei poore din bahut bhayankar traffic jam hua tha. If possible try to do an extensive research on menace caused by school vans mostly Suzuki Eeco on Delhi roads. They drive fast and rash, they don't follow traffic rules, take more number of kids as per rule, frequently indulge in fight with others, mostly rude and always ready to fight. In some places where there are more than one or two schools together, the traffic condition becomes disastrous there causing hours of traffic jams and other inconveniences.

All three wheelers should be gradually replaced with Nano or Bajaj Qute like options. Auto/Rickshaw are not safe by design. @@Areebalam1 Yes, but 3 wheeler made them more efficient at what they do. They wouldn't be able just take U-turn or fly their Autos like an Airplane Pilot.

Thanks! for making such a video and really e-rickshaw is Menace on the roads. One behaviour I have noticed that generally the driver of e-rickshaw accelerate using there left keeping right hand free god knows for what reason

Edit: I think the way I've phrased this sentence is causing confusion. What I mean to say is that driving on the left half of a service road that is on the right side of a highway is legal (😁 too many sides). Or at least, I believe it should be legal.
That service road is for vehicles coming from the opposite direction. Every highway/flyover has service roads on either side. That e-rickshaw was definitely on the wrong side. It should've been on the service road to the left of the flyover.
@@priyamganguly It's a service road, and NOT an extension lane where you add extra 4th and 5th lanes to the same traffic direction.
The purpose of service roads is that residential traffic trying to join a highway can do easily without having to take a round about route trying to be on the "left side" of the highway. This is only possible if a service lane allows its traffic to flow in the direction that is opposite to the flow in the adjacent highway lane.
In other words, we should treat service roads as we treat any normal roads that are without dividers. Instead, we in India treat service roads as extension lanes to the main highway.
I know that my explanation here was a hurried one. Please let me know if I need to clarify that.
@@abiofficial-ws7pn No, Its not allowed to drive on wrong side even on service roads, Thats why you will find U-turn tunnels under flyovers so that you can turn around towards the right path. Service road par bhi challan hojaega tera agar police khadi hui

U-turns under fly-overs are possible wherever the flyover has risen sufficiently from the ground. This enables drivers to easily cross across to the other side of the highway without having to go a long distance just to travel to a point that is directly opposite but otherwise would have been blocked by the highway.
One more use of such under-passes (I think that's what you're calling U-turns) is that when there's too much traffic (jam) on one side, some of it can made to flow to the other side. In other words, like a pressure valve on a cooker.

During SP rule. Akhilesh distributed these e-rickshaw for free. Mostly to Muslims. And to teenagers.. They didn't have any driving experience, put aside license.
