A dream bike. Perfect tourer. Yes a lot of electronics but it's a premium tourer that does everything it can to make life easier for you. The hill stop is just right for Devon. The people I've met with Tigers of whatever cc, all love them. Gotta be something there.
Just wanted to thank you for a very well considered, presented and thoughtful review. Also enjoyed the hill-hold and centre stand demonstrations. Not many reviewers go into this detail. So thank you again. 👏👏👏
Honestly Mark, often when I do these reviews I often wonder if I should bother doing what I do, but you have just made it all worthwhile for me in that one comment....Thanks very much for that feedback. It made my day!
@@exeterrider Thanks. Indeed, it's those little extras that set your video apart from others I have watched. Everyone talks about horsepower and the like, but it's the day-to-day stuff that really matters. I have a Tiger 900 that's a bit awkward to move about my cobbled drive. So watching you move the 1200 in the car park was really useful in my real world. So thanks again! 👏
Having owned everything from GSA to the KTM Super 1290, found my gen 3 T12 XCA to be my fav. Put 26k in 2 years and it’s been just awesome. Dropped it, kicked it, and beaten it half to death and still does it’s job and has never let me down. Will be heading to the new Tiger GT Explorer at some point but not until I feel my gen 3 has given me it’s all. Great review 👍
Great bike (I bought a 2024 model two weeks ago) and I find your review to be spot on. The bike is all-day comfortable, has more than enough power (too much 😱) for my competence, but I expect to gain in confidence in the coming weeks. A lot of people comment on the screen, but I swapped bikes with my son today, and after riding a 1200 Speed Triple RS with no screen, I will never complain again about the protection offered by the GT-Pro (once my Speedy induced whiplash has healed).
Great to hear! they are enough bike for anyone...I found the GT screen ok really...not the best but far from the worst...its well set for distance travel and Sunday rides. Thanks for your feed back on the video...Enjoy! : )
Nice review. I own the MY2023 Tiger 1200 RE. I’ll admit it wasn’t cheap. I was ready to part with my money for a GSA. All it took was one ride on the Tiger. It’s been a great experience to ride it so far.
The Tiger 1200 is a bike that has interested me but I'm not at all keen on the plethora of electronics. It's obviously very well made and extremely capable and, for what you are getting, fairly reasonably priced. A very informative in depth review, ER, which is up to your usual high standard.
It’s a good looking adventure bike, and that exhaust sounds great too. It looks like they’ve put a lot of time, effort and money into that TFT, but I have to agree with what you said about it.
Couldn't agree more! Huge effort has been made, and its an awesome bike...just those few itches for me but anyone who buys one of these wont be disappointed certainly on bigger trips.....I kept having visions of going to see the angel on the steps but na never worth it is it🤣
@@EpicMotorcycleAdventures Regarding what you say about the dash - I've got the old Tiger 1200 XCA (which I love) and on that you can customise the display through about 6 or so different configurations to alter the rev/ speed/ gear etc.. Can't you do the same on this??
It's amazing how some people like to spread the "rumour", that this bike has vibes. It is, as if, they get some joy, in bagging some rides, to ward off potential buyers. I've owned one now, for about two years, and i can honestly say, it's all bunk.
Great polished reviewed set in the best location around. 👍 i'm fortunate enough to have spent the majority of my time on non electronic aided bikes, I hope the new generation of riders don't end up not learning the skills of riding on different surfaces and under different conditions, or lose the ability to fix their own bikes. There is a place for aids, but on some bikes it's impossible to turn them all off.
I'm with you on that....A big thing for me with biking is understanding how it all works and if it goes wrong , I want to have an idea what it is but with the electronics I somehow feel departed from it it......EFI,ABS etc fine but electronic sterring locks, key fibs is a bridge to far. Thanks BOT for watching, The location was lovely!
@@exeterrider Thanks, yes ABS can be handy and of course quick shifters do offer a performance boost. It's a pity that on my MT07 I cannot turn off the ABS, did they think MT07 owners would never want to go off road 😂
Really like this one ER especially in the blue it kinda looks more compact than the GS cheapest I found £14,795 used but still a lot of money , admittedly a lot of bike too . My problem is there are to many nice bikes out there and I like them all . Really good review as ever and it is tempting not that I can afford it 😉👌👍
Thanks mate, yes, one of the major advantages of the Tiger over the GS is it will be much more likely to filter and get to the front of the lights rather than having to think 20 steps ahead like you do filtering on a GS. I have the same problem with all these nice bikes out there although its a bit easier with all the bikes I get to try does make things alot easier. Thanks dude👍
That TFT dash is very good looking, nice and big but not too big and in your face. Nice skid aha I'm glad in a way it doesn't feel too different if you know what I mean, if it isn't broken then why fix it you know. I have to admit, I know people say they love to commute on these but I personally don't see the point, I have never enjoyed filtering on big adventure bikes either, they have a purpose and that's what they are best at. Those grab handles are very chunky I like them. Great review mate, I really like the bike, would love to get out on one. I think if I was looking for an adventure bike I would consider one of these over the very common GS. Hope you're well mate, keep up the great work.
Its a very good alternative to the GS RB. Its worth a try on one if you get the chance, its a sporty bike and sounds great with the crossplane crank. As you say for town stuff I found I just wanted to get on the big roads again. Thanks for watching
Yes I tend to agree, The electronic bar locking is a bridge too far for me, great bike though but keep things simple is so important these days for so many reasons.
Great vid ER mate, i love the Triumph ADV bikes, although a mate of mine recently bought a 9 year old Tiger 1200 & 1/3rd of the price of the latest models! 😜🤣👍
I have a black and love it. The only issue I have had is the Metzeler Tourance tyres. My front tyre being illegal due to lack of tread on the side only after 2,700 miles. The bike handled with Tourance tyres brilliantly and I liked them. I hope/ think it may have just been a faulty tyre. I had an issue with finding neutral as well which was fixed with a clutch fluid drain as part of the recall.
I don't think you managed it but when taking off from a standing start, I noticed that when you let the clutch out, the rev's were raised instantly to assist in starting to roll off in first. I found this very useful. Great bike and one I would definitely consider. I currently have a Ducati Multistrada V4S Sport.
Great review of a bike I’ve been looking at for future purchase. Presently ride a 2016 Tiger Explorer XRT, with three bag setup from Triumph. I found the seat a little higher than I prefer, and I’ve added the low seat (820mm) to my XRT and I can flatfoot comfortably. I purchased my 2021 Honda NC-750x 6 speed after your video last year, so I respect your opinion. Do like the shaft drive on a long range tourer, as your not doing maintenance every few days. I’m going to keep watching to see if Triumph offers a low version with a center stand. Thanks again from snowy Milwaukee. All the best!
Ahh Thanks for watching, the snow is just trying to fall here at the moment. The shaft drive is such a good thing about this bike. It even makes it perform better and gives the bike a more direct feeling to riding. Thanks E.R
@@exeterrider. Sorry ER I should have been more specific. The Blue 2222 6 speed with the factory boxes. He was waiting for center stand and tall screen.
I use to be a luddite and be anti technology. I say used to be because having a quick shifter, cruise control, heated seats and grips, electronic adjustable suspension for a couple years I have been converted. I'm not saying it is for every bike because I love some of my low technology bikes but if you do a couple longer distance rides a year these bike cannot be beat....if you have the cash. If you are a luddite the best thing is not to ride a bike with these features because you might convert too.
I'm right in the middle flat Cap. I like the extras but I still want to turn a key, and lock the bars myself for example. Incredibly clever machine this one though for sure 👍
I’m pretty sure all the dinosaurs banging on about electronics have never tried them or endeavoured to understand them. That’s fine, but you really are missing out on a great riding experience. It is a joy to adjust the riding mode/ suspension on the fly to suit road conditions or mood 😎🍻
Not sure what it is about the new ADV bikes. They are all more tough looking and less ( Dad Bike ). Maybe I'm just warming up to them. I do like the look of this one too. Also we agree about a busy gauge, I prefer more simple as well. Good review Exeter!!
Hi Kode, I guess your more into the sportsbike side so this is more "you" than a GS for example because of its sporty side perhaps. Yeap the Gauge is pretty but a bit full on in normal riding. Thanks : )

I rode one for about 100 or so miles a couple weeks ago... Amazing bike, but it is sooooo restricted. I opened up the stock map file, and the ride by wire tables are really holding it back, especially in the lower gears. You can give it all the throttle you want in sport mode, but you are almost never actually getting full power. Easy to fix in about 15 minutes with TuneECU and an Android phone or tablet...
It will be fine, the 1200 is great but unless your doing 70plus speeds 60% of the time or more then I would go 900 I think. If you had the 1200 you would wish you had the 900. Perfectly normal👍

I'm not too big on too much electronics either Ken. The quickshifter is as you say for clutchless shifting. Its a nice thing to have TBH. It would be intresting to see what this is like next to your R80 if it was bought in the same year .
