    I test rode a 2022 Ducati Multistrada v4s and the GT Explorer. I loved both bikes and would have been happy with either. It took me a week and 2 test rides to decide but the Tiger won in the end. Better dealer network, shaft drive, better brakes and a much longer range. I would still own a Multi though its fantastic

    Do you have any information on an, eventually, seizing problem ,of the exhaust flapper valve on the Tiger ? I bought a new 2017 model BMW R 1200 RT. The valve seizes every 20 000 km. Also starting problems, due to crap Bosch starter. Reason, why, my next bike, shall, definetely, not be a BMW. I consider the Tiger. Pleas advise. Philip de Belder, the Flanders.

    13:00 re flashing high beam. From the manual ....
    "f the DRL switch is in the daytime running lights position, then press and hold the high beam button to turn the high beam on. It will remain on as long as the button is held in and will turn off as soon as the button is released."
    So the button works as a flash if the daytime running lights are on. If the DRL is off then the button either turns high beam off or on - i.e. it is not a flash type button. I gather this is because you are not meant to have the DRL on when you are riding at night (according to the manual).

    The only thing I don't really like about the Tiger 1200 range are those cheap looking marmalade pot brake and clutch fluid reservoirs, much prefer the more subtle looking aluminium ones. Same sort of issue with muck coming up through the slot in the windscreen too, going to experiment with some mesh in it to keep the airflow, but reduce the crud.

    I am looking for a replacement to my old Triumph Trophy 1200 T312. I can ride it on motorways with no buffeting. I can ride it in rain and not get my legs wet. It keeps my hands dry. It is good for trips with luggage and passenger. My only issues are chain drive, carburettor maintenance, the weight, and nowhere to put a phone/satnav. What is there to replace it?

    • @PhatSimey
      @PhatSimey 6 месяцев назад

      No carburettors on modern bikes, all electronic fuel injection systems now. Sounds like you may be want something Honda Goldwing or Harley style for full on wind/water protection? I rode the 1200 Rally Pro last year while my Tiger 800 was in for some warranty work, and didn't want to get off it! Wind protection wise, it's pretty much the same as my 800 (buffeting on top of my head, and shoulders), but oh, that engine sound! I would definitely take one out for an hour or so, see how you get on. Go for the GT version though, if you do lots of road miles.

I think the new bike looks great it’s what the market is asking for…so it’s what Triumph is building. Pretty easy to tell the 900 and 1200 apart just look at the rear wheel chain verses Shaft Drive. There are too many other differences between the Pro models and the Explorer models for that to be a good way to go, Senor Varadero. It would only result in 2 fuel tank choices at huge expense, and it's not like you could swap them back and forth easily. Of course, just putting 5 gals of fuel in the 8 gal tank would be an option, just don't tell Tom Cruise you're doing it. You might lose his respect.

    I enjoyed your review of the Tiger 1200, I own a Gen 1 and tested the new bike and found it has less legroom. I am 197cm and the plastic vent for radiator airflow presses against my knees. The intersting thing is this issue only relates to the GT Pro, for some reason the Rally moulding for these vents is different and offers about 30cn more legroom. I wanted the 19 inch rim GT Pro and not the 21 inch of the Rally. I cannot understand why Triumph didn't keep the moulding and generous legroom for both models.

    Hi V, I am your fans from China, looking for a bigger bike for my upgrade from 500cc adv.
    After watching your video, I took test rides on tiger 1200 gt pro and tiger 900 series. Both 1200gt pro and 900 rally pro attract me a lot!
    I will mainly use the bike for commuting and ≤1000km travel(highway, road, some gravel, no jumps...), taking my wife on the back. I am very impressed by the enormous power of 1200. The shaft drive and electronic-suspension of 1200 are great. However, I found that 1200 has more vibration than 900, and it does not look much more expensive than 900.... 900 is also very good and looks cool with the spoke wheel and golden shocks., while its off-road performance is much more than my capability. I can ignore their price difference, can you suggest which one is better for my usage?
    THX!!!

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад +1

      Hi, you mentioned most of the points that I'd likely raise. So 1200 having more power and that great suspension. It should be more comfortable overall but the 900 is not bad there either. But since you're mentioning mostly "highway and road" use, also riding with your back, I'd consider the more powerful bike for you to feel that extra margin there when under load. 900 is totally fine for solo riding but I guess (here I only guess as I don't ride with a pillion) riding two-up may change that feeling in the long run. On the other hand and about that vibration - you're not the only one noticing it. Tolerating this will be personal. I haven't been annoyed on the 1200 because of that while on some bikes vibration is unbearable to me.
      Generally since you're considering it this way, it means that you'd be totally fine with the 900 and save money with no real regrets. If price is not the case at all though, I'd go for a 1200. It's a bit of my ego talking but well... It also matters.

    On looks, I agree with V-Told exactly. The new Tiger 1200 is a great looking bike, but I find myself hoping that in a couple of years, when I'm ready to buy one, Triumph will have added a touch of bad boy to the conservative design. Yes, the duckbill needs to get toned down. Also, the fuel tank needs to be sexier. How about semi-fake intake ports that feed extra airflow to the split radiator? Nothing obtrusive like on Yamaha's MT-10, but something a little edgy? Headlights - the Africa Twin is currently setting the cool standard, while KTM's look too weird. Give us a pair of adventurer's eyes, Triumph.

    For me, maybe the old 1200 was the most beautiful bike you can buy. I keep trying to find tests which say that it is a wonderful bike to buy. ;) I keep doubting whether a newer versys 1000 or the old tiger 1200 (sec hand) would do for me. I have just rented a gs1250 in mallorca and it hasn't impressed me in other aspects than the torque and lightness feeling. I have a much smoother versys 1000 2015 with the same mileage as the rental bike. Maybe the rental bike had a worn clutch, but it had no slip zone. My wife heard bad words many times manoeuvring in low speed. And the gear box ... Slow and very noisy. A pity with that (noisy) mighty engine. Really, today I believe less in youtube's tests than last week. Or maybe I am underestimating the adaptation process time. But I rode the gs two days some 400-500 km in different roads...

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад

      I'd be curious to learn if the issue at low speed manoeuvring were caused by the clutch or stability of the GS. You have mentioned the clutch and I may confirm that along with the boxer engine, it can cause some misunderstandings. There are plenty of people who stall these bikes and land flat on the ground - I've seen that myself and I've also stalled a GS and RT several times when setting off which doesn't happen to me usually on other bikes. So yes, this can happen and you might've not liked that. What's great about it is handling, feeling of lightness - as you've described it - and eagerness to turn along with amazing brakes enhanced by the front anti-dive Telelever suspension which I find brilliant and fun. Tiger 1200 exceeds in almost everything related to the engine when comparing to the GS. But in all other aspects except for seat comfort and exhaust sound, I'd give it to the GS. I hope that this helps.

      I agree that this engine does have a noisy valve train, but I've got over 2800 miles on my 2023 Tiger GT Pro and I don't really notice much vibration at all. And I've been ridding Goldwings for 40 years.

    While everyone is a different seated height, everyone's head is going to be in a different place relative to the windshield, every ADV bike I've had the pleasure to sample has had badly designed windshields. The wind buffeting and noise is unacceptable, unless you like hearing loss, lots of fatigue, and generally enjoy very loud obnoxious noise.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Год назад

      This is a strange reality as indeed most bikes don't provide a really comfortable experience in terms of wind protection. On the other hand, they've got to make the money on the accessories, hence taller and shorter windshields.

      @@VToldsMotoShow I'm not a aerodynamics expert by any means, but even I could design a windscreen better than most of what I see on these kinds of bikes. The height isn't necessary the issue, it's the shape, primarily how the air is released from the edges that makes such a turbulent racket.

    Since I'm aiming for the Rally Explorer, until you brought it up in this video I didn't realize how snobbish it is for Triumph to only add blind spot radar for the Explorer models. In fact, Triumph isn't linking the decision to the size of the fuel tanks, but to the size of the price. Indirectly they're saying your life is worth more if you spend a few thousand dollars/euros more. Then again, it serves you inferior peasants right if you can only afford a Pro model (that last line sponsored by the Triumph Motorcycle Corporation).

      @@expatbiker6598 I've thought of that. It reminds me of people overly-reliant on GPS not being able to give directions in their own hometown without it. But speaking for myself, I'm the type of rider who's paranoid enough to check my blindspot even with radar assist. I'm also like every rider by sometimes needing to pay attention to a problem up ahead without knowing whether it's safe to change lanes or not. I think it's at those crucial moments that radar assist would really make everyone of us safer.

    • @craigfinnegan8534
      @craigfinnegan8534 Год назад

      The main reason it kept stalling at low speeds off-road is that V-Told wasn't used to that throttle. As with different weight distribution from a previous bike, the different throttle just takes some adjusting to by the rider and the problem will mostly be gone. If I could eventually ride in dirt easily on a Yamaha FJ-09 with it's notoriously snatchy throttle, then you can get used to any throttle at all.

    • @VToldsMotoShow

      I haven't noticed anything that would strike me as cheap, really. I recently got on a Rally Explorer version and I've had the same impressions as for its quality just with an exception of the blind spot monitoring system that uses lights in mirrors that look and likely are cheap. This makes them basically useless as one can barely even notice them. That's a real pity as the idea of the whole system is brilliant while because of this I felt it was useless. And they could've copied the fantastic implementation of that in Ducati Multistrada V4.
      I personally would take the Triumph. Maybe if I were to offroad, I'd go for the Africa. But if I were truly to do so, I'd choose a bike like Yamaha Tenere 700, Ducati DesertX or Aprilia Tuareg. Or simply a KTM Super Adventure R - most likely actually as all these bikes are too large and heavy for offroad use in my opinion.
