This is exactly the review I was looking for, and as a fellow RUclipsr, I appreciate that. I am about the same size as you and have been reading that the Rally actually handles better on the road, which is counter-intuitive but cool. Thx you!

I love my Rally Pro and also chose it for many of the reasons you mentioned. The many good reviews of its good road handling despite the 21" front helped me as well plus I knew I would be doing quite a bit of light off road riding... L.A. roads aren't the best either.
I bought the triumph TPM when I bought the bike and will have them installed first time I get new tires.
I am only 5'10" and have a 32" inseam. I ride mine with the standard seat and height (dealer threw in a heated drivers seat as well). I can just flat foot it in the low position. I had minor knee surgery a couple months before buying the bike and my knees are more comfortable in the higher position.
I have had it out a couple times a month since I bought it end of sept and have never been cold or uncomfortable (with Klim Latitude set). I need to pick up one of those seat covers for the summer.
edit: Oh, and I removed my rear foot pegs. They were just in the way and I will never ride this bike with a passenger.

I have the GT Explorer and have done 20,000 miles on it, including a number of tours. I love it. Significant improvement on the previous generation.
For me it is a choice between a right decision and a right decision. I am 6'2'' and it fits me perfectly with the seat in the high position.
Fabulous bikes, whichever one you decide upon.

I am 6’4” and this bike fits me well, about the only mod was buying a puig tall windshield and that has helped tremendously with wind noise in my helmet. Worthwhile upgrade but am enjoying the bike.

On a bike fitted with TPMS as original equipment, the screen splits in half and you get a big red low pressure symbol with accompanying text for which tire. If you go to TPMS on the TFT menu, you get a monochromatic picture of the bike and the affected tire(s) coloured in red. Air pressure in each tire is indicated below, in bar. If I remember correctly, the only other measure is PSI and I believe the only way to get that is to switch everything over to Imperial. So...for someone who prefers PSI, but lives in a country where air is dispensed in Kilopascals, I've now got to stretch my tiny brain to calculate bar. 😢
I've made a conversion chart with some sticker paper. I stuck it on the inside lid of my top box.

Your Rally Pro definitely the better looking of the two. I had the old gen 3 Tiger which was top heavy but a wonderful touring bike, you could smoke a cigar behind the screen at motorway speeds 😂. I swapped for a GS though because of the weight issue but I am tempted with this as a bit of Triumph fan 🤔

I think it boils down to styling between the two Tiger variants. Having also ridden both, and owned a GT-Pro for a year (and done approx 7000 miles), i made my choice based on the seat height (tho the GT is still a tall thing to swing a leg over) and style - I like the road-oriented styling. Certainly in the miles I've done on the GT-Pro in the UK, France and Italy, I've not noticed anything around comfort or rideability that makes me regret my choice.
Good video though, and I'm looking forward to following you on your travels in 2024!

In theory; lowering the seat position should (to a degree) offset the top heavy-ness of a full fuel tank + luggage, by putting the rider weight lower down "in" the bike. Also the handlebar risers put more weight on the seat & off the bars.
It all adds up when you're riding for 5 - 6 hours a day on tour.
I look for a straight back & bent elbows on an adventure bike, & most manufacturers provide this straight out of the box, with some minor modifications & adjustments to suit.

If I went touring, that’s the bike I’d use. I’d quite like one as it goes, but I’m still into sportsbikes and track days. I’m nearly 56, still can’t get the speed bug out of my system 😂

@@MOTOUK1 You’ve definitely got the right bike for it. I’ve ridden to Germany a few times with mates, but I don’t class that as touring. We were going to the Nurburgring, so it was all about the destination and not the journey.

  • @JazzFunkSoulHouseYT

Good comparison, I mean it's kinda limited what more you can say really between the two bikes because they are very similar in most regards and both are exceptionally good anyway.
Erm... Explorer mirrors on the Rally Pro?... How comes?
Also have you checked the tire pressures for accuracy, write interested in that little product for my GT Pro.
I don't think the Rally has sold very well though, so there are some very good deals (on both models, but especially the Rally).
The blue is a very popular colour on the GT (it's what I have), seems strange to dump a popular colour but I'm sure Triumph marketing team know what they are doing.
I still think the matt green on the Rally is the best colour though.

Great review, thanks. I've done about 6k km on my Rally Pro Explorer and loved every one of them, but I'm not gonna lie, she is a heavy thing at the end of a long day on a tilted uphill slope as you're trying to park in an unfamiliar airbnb garage. Let alone solo off roading - if she drops on a slope and I'm on on my own - well. I was thinking of changing to the new, standard 1200 rally pro to save that 15/20 kilos (with the extra petrol). Have you or anyone else out there ridden both ? Does it make a proper difference ?
