    Agree with your opinion on the TFT screen, it would be nice to see some modern bikes with dials. Dials seem to give the bike back it's mechanical charm, which is what appeals to so many bikers. You know what, id even go further to say that having physical dials and a tft screen as an optional extra would get my vote..

    Great watch keep them coming, I like the fact that you mention the basic bike and pick your options as you feel appropriate, not go for all bells and whistles of witch some of them you don't need or will ever use, having followed you for many years I like the evolution and content of you reviews, Rear camera a first today I think unless I've missed one, The out takes and kit description are good. pinkiewerewolf completely agree. A digital rev counter's a hideous thing; you can't 'glance' at a four-figure moving number the way you can at a clock. Bring back the good old dials. Such a shame to stick this arrangement on a bike that otherwise gets such a glowing review.

    I think you are the first reviewer that said they don't like the digital RPM on the TFT screen. It's funny, that's the same screen we have on our 2020 Street Triple RS and the general consensus among us owners is the same. It's hard to read. A number of us have contacted Triumph and have been told they are not changing the layouts.

    I know you didn’t like the Africa Twin but it scores over the Tiger for the TFT that does full map navigation with the LED for speed, gear etc. Means you don’t have to mount a phone or satnav. Also the Tiger only does turn by turn nav which can be confusing if the map source is open maps that often don’t have the right road priority . However the Tiger wins on price & lightness especially comparing the base models of both.

    The GT is a lot cheaper £11,100, add the quickshifter at £330 and it's still £1,370 cheaper than the GT Pro. It's what I've done, it has the heated grips, and doesn't have the heated seats, electronic controlled rear shock, or the connectivity, which I don't want.

    I have had mine since April. I have watched all your GT Pro series of videos. While I generally agree with your assessment (love the bike for sure) I am surprised you did not mention the rear brake in your cons. Under powered for this size bike and squishy in my opinion. Hard to fault the bike otherwise. By the way I am very tech savvy by nature and it took me many hours to get all the tech working properly but eventually I did win the battle. All the tech functionality works fine after you find your way through the distorted setup process.

      @TriplePlay Sure thing, make sure you unpair your headset from the phone, like delete the pairing. Then proceed to pair the phone to the bike in the Bluetooth way. Then pair your helmet to the bike in the Bluetooth way. Both phone and headset must be paired to the bike for it to work as it should. My phone and headset connect everytime. However to play music the app of you choice must be active on the phone and I usually get the music playing via the phone first and then I can control it all day via the toggle. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the volume control tray, no biggie as I need it on full all the time anyhow.
      GPS also works very well, would've been great if they had incorporated a map display instead of just turn by turn, shame with all that screen real estate not to take full advantage of it.

    I just test rode Tiger 900 Rally Pro. As a R1250GS owner, I have to say I was impressed with the Tiger 900 RP. It has lively motor with alot usable power. Handled very well, especially with a 21" wheel. Only minor "don't care for" issues are the TFT user interface and brakes. The TFT commands & controls were awkward and more thought could been put into the UI/UX design. The other quip is the initial bite on the front brakes. They work but do not have the sensitivity of the R1250GS brakes. All in all, it still an impressive bike, and 100lbs lighter than the GS.

    would you compare the Street Scrambler 900 to the Tiger 900 ? or is this not a fair comparison ? I bought the SS 900 in February and it is a good bike for the limited miles I do. The Tiger 900 seems a great new addition to the Triumph line up a true tourer and as you say all rounder; glad shorties like us are catered for|! Some of us are under 5' 10'' LOL . What is the Tiger 900 economy ? What is the normal speeds mpg? Important in the UK as prices are a bit steep even though they got down to 99 per litre a month or two ago, they're creeping up again now.

    • @chriskay116
      @chriskay116 4 года назад +2

      I own a Street Scrambler, myself, and having enjoyed an extended test ride on a Tiger 900 Rally Pro, I can say that they are totally different animals. Whilst both are extremely competent, I was left feeling a little detached by the Tiger. It does everything supremely well, it seemed to be doing it "for me" rather than me being wholly in charge. If I needed to commute 50 miles each way, daily, then I would choose the Tiger, every time, but for that visceral thrill of being out on motorbike for its own sake, the Street Scrambler has the edge.
      I've got quite a few bikes and it's interesting that speed, or at least the perception of it, is all relative. I found that the Tiger allows you to cover ground very quickly but does so in an unflustered, but maybe not quite as thrilling, way.

    • @casperdog777
      @casperdog777 4 года назад +2

      @@chriskay116 I think you've nailed it. The SS 900 is what it is, I love mine. If I was using my bike all the time and this involved longer distance commuting or touring - no contest. I think the aspect of ''character'' is that certain Je ne sais quoi that a bike has or doesn't have. The SS 900 has ''it'' . No doubt. I used to have the Tiger 800 and I was very impressed and using the old Tiger 800 as a yardstick; if I needed to do longer distance regularly - no contest. But at the moment my SS 900 does fun and short commutes amazingly well; I have the impression if I were to go crazy and put some decent shocks on it and knobblies the SS 900 would surprise me off road. Asking MF to compare the new Tiger 900 and the SS 900 is unfair; they're apples and pears. But I would like to know what the Tiger 900 economy is like; on my old Tiger 800 (2013 model) the economy was not brilliant and I know Triumph did address this with later Tiger 800 versions.

    Keyless ignition. I'd pay NOT to have it. Leave the key somewhere after starting the bike, it will carry on running until you stop the engine. So in theory the key could be accidentally left at say a petrol station or maybe just dropped on the floor, and you could have ridden someway before you see the "can't connect to key message" on the TFT.
    A key in an ignition switch would never suffer from this. Since I've just ordered a Speed Triple RS, I'm going to have to put up with this. You still need the key for the fuel cap, the key is bulkier, almost certainly a lot dearer to replace (and you are more likely to need to replace it, because it's "dropable"), and it has security issues. It's a completely pointless feature.
    When Triumph quiz me on what I think of the Speed Triple, I will be saying "I'd rather have heated grips, quick shifter or alarm as standard rather than keyless ignition"

      It took me a few minutes to get the bike to speak to the key, they must have had a falling out. But the problem reappeared on a test stop with engine off just to see if they would talk but once again it took ages, so......I'm hoping this will be abandoned on the new 1160 :)
      Except that I fear it will be carried over, Triumph don't like to admit they're wrong - for example, round headlights, recent colour schemes, front brake levers that pull right back to the bar before they work, key-less, pull in the clutch to start and also in returning settings to default when you stop (heated grips if I recall correctly possibly also the mode?? (but happy to be proved wrong on this)) and TFT.
