@@akvaithi Thanks for the suggestion. I did find the culprit - the Windows Security dashboard recommended I turn on a feature called "memory integrity" which I did. As soon as I disabled this feature, my VM worked again.

thank you so much for this tutorial. i can confirm this still works as of feb 9 2023. i recommend downloading the same version he has for autounlocker just cause the newest version does not look like how it does in the video. just in case it wasnt obvious enough you can skip anything with vmx if you have an intel cpu. that part is for people with amd cpus only. also the iso for catalina that he has linked does not work but you can find that with a quick google search.
Would this still work if I use the method listed on BlueBubble's guide to setting up a vm, which using opencore to get an image and then converting that to a format that works with vmware?

For the one getting into the reboot loop after updating .vmx, i used MacBookPro14,3 infos instead of the one in the video and it worked. I'm using an AMD CPU. Now, if someone can help, i'm getting some white noise/robot voice while using my microphone in FaceTime for example. But it is every time i'm using it, i suspect some VMware microphone driver issue ? or something like that, people can hear me but it's so frustrating. Thanks.

@@akvaithi It was weird, restarting imac, vmbox, even my entire pc didn't work. I put my finger on the monitor where the "X button" to close is :P and i spammed it to close it :P but it still would do the crash whenever I open imessage. It was crashing on someoen's chat specifically, so then I went to Contacts > I added them as a contact > clicked "New message" and opened messages from contacts basically, closed the chat that was making me crash and now its working. Weird, that chat had a video (or live photo) do you think that can cause the imac vmbox to crash?

Yeah, running VMWare esxi server and once I copied/pasted/tried/crashed etc, I found the code injection with serials and such put it in a boot loop saying there was an error. I also mistakenly updated Catalina once online. I'll try dif Macbook Pro with serials
Even if I showed my vmx file, it would not help since the differences in the hardware configurations will create different vmx files, I recommend you restart and have VMware create a new vmx file properly and you can add the necessary changes. To prevent this from happening again, I recommend you make a copy of the original vmx so you can replace it in case something stops working, sorry this is the most I can help you.

For those who edited properly and have "VMX File is corrupted". Just check that you don't have the line that you wrote in double. In my case I had already a "board-id..."
*FOR ANYONE WITH AMD ISSUES* Remove the SMBIOS text from your VMX file if you've already tried the process with the device in the video, and boot back into macos. It will boot normally. In Clover, set your device to "MacBookPro16,4" Follow procedure normally, but generate the first serial number a few times before copying Continue with tutorial normally, and everything will work!
Unfortunately, this is not working for me anymore as of 06-05-2023. Worked in February. Just says unable to sign into iMessage. Have tried multiple times, and am sure that VMX is correct. My specs are 2.1 GHz Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics and I have 8 GB of RAM installed. I pasted the text in the vmx file, masked the CPU, and even switch the guest operating system to Windows but it cannot boot.

Curious if anyone has gotten this to work with two factor authentication - the kind built into the iPhone and MacOS where it puts up the 'allow' or 'deny' on the screen and then hands out the 6 digit code. NOT the SMS version.... I find the activation process hangs at the final step and it returns to the apple ID screen (to start over). Any ideas?

No, the host machine must have the sleep settings to never sleep or lock. Inside the macOS VM, you need something like Amphetamine to keep the VM awake. I hope this answers your question.

Hmm I haven't seen this issue before, try restarting and make sure you uncheck the "reopen apps" when the restart dialog comes up.

Yep, that is possible and live photos auto play (I believe) on Mac and since we don't have proper Mac hardware acceleration, it could just crash

Clover is not used in this guide, the vmx file is generated automatically. If you cannot find the vmx file, turn on file extensions.

Sorry, but I believe the newest Ryzen CPUs don't work, I don't know how to fix it, I recommend asking on the r/hackintosh subreddit

try changing name from macpro to macbook pro
you just have to create a support ticket and give them the error it gives you. they activated it for me

If it hangs and starts over, you might need to try a different serial number

I set up air message, but only certain contacts of mine are getting messages. But when I text the other ones it says "# is not registered with I message" idk why because I know they have an iPhone.

Hi, I can't seem to find the 10.15 vmx file in the host computer after editing the values on clover. I had my macOS installed in the D drive due to less space in C drive
Check to make sure file extensions are on, then you will see the. vmx file

This has been working perfectly for me for a couple weeks now. If I install a software update for Monterey through system preferences on the VM, would it potentially affect iServices working?
I'm on AMD and I get an error powering on virtual machine after putting the text in the vmx file. Has anyone found a solution to this?
Edit: Solution was finding the "virtualHW.version" parameter in the vmx file and changing it to 16
