Of course their kids only want apple devices, despite me showing to their parents that a 12 yr old doesn't need a $1600 - $2000 macbook pro, they can do the exact same thing on a $600 to $800 laptop.
When they found out that I am an IT professional (Network specialist), they are all calling me for tech support. They ones that have macbooks, I tell them go to the Apple Store, If you can afford a macbook, you can afford Apple Store's fees.

Huawei P30 is like 1000 bucks. I do have an iPhone 7 Plus and it still works great with no issues. I was just responding to Ramim about his post, being that phones nowadays are getting ridiculously high priced, no matter which OS and tech you want. I like Apple, but I do like Android too. Android seems to always be one or two steps ahead of Apple, especially with battery life, which many of us care about.

My battery life has taken a pretty significant hit after upgrading to 12.2. Pull some sources out for your facts before saying them. An iPhone that's 3.5 years old is not going to run iOS 12 smoothly in the slightest. My roommate had an iPhone 6s running it and his phone died constantly, crashed constantly, and stuttered all of the time.

In these countries, iPhones will usually be even more expensive (in dollar value) than an Android flagship (in the same country). So all flagships are extra-expensive, making the low-end and mid-range dominate the market, and that's where Android comes in: they offer low and mid-range devices for a myriad of tastes, whereas apple does not. Thus, the market is dominated by Android users and they don't have iMessage, so they resort to Whatsapp and similar apps (varies by country, but Whatsapp has gotta be the biggest of them) for all their feature-enhanced messaging needs.
Even the iPhones users abroad *must* have WhatsApp (if they want to text in a 2019 society), because you're not gonna use iMessage for your 5 friends that have iPhones and then swap to Whatsapp for the other 100 people in your life that you gotta talk to who are rocking Androids.

iMessage is free over WiFi and most people I know use iPhones. Also makes it much cheaper and easier to communicate if you travel internationally a lot.

For a huge part of the iPhone users, imessage is the only reason they use an iPhone
Here's my experience with this so far if anyone's curious about real world use.
This actually works damn near perfectly. I had an old Mac Book laying around, so that part wasn't much trouble for me. Now the reason for me setting this up, is that all my friends, except for my gf and I, are on iphone. As you know, when we/them send videos, they come out like trash because of MMS. Which, to be clear, is not a fault of Android, but the carriers. It'll be on Apple whether they allow RCS in the near future and it's compatibility with iMessage that'll determine if we even need to do any of this.
Now the only thing is, you show up by your email and not your number, but once they add that to a contact, it's a set and forget.
Tip for sending videos, without getting the "File Size Too Big" error: you have to do the video compression yourself before sending. So not automatic like iMessage does for you. I recommend AndroVid Pro. Looks nice and easy to edit/use and just make sure you compress until it's under 100mbs in size (iMessage's limit). There are a number of free apps that do this as well. After that, you're good to to send via Air Message and it looks great.
Admittedly, it is some hoops to jump through, but after setting it up, everything works perfectly like you'd expect. The only slight inconvenience is sending videos, since you have to compress it yourself. Receiving videos is absolutely fine and no hassle though. Shows up like you'd expect as well.

@@CSab-ui2jt overall it worked but I had to make it so that on data, I used the number instead of the website name and the website name is the fall-back one which connects when I am on wifi. But there are problems with the Mac which are that it is old so I can't update the os and give airmessage complete access. Instead I need to manually allow the app to run everytime the computer gets restarted which is kind of often since the Mac is still in use and it freezes all of the time. But all in all my problems only lie with the mac itself and not the tutorial. I already did the port forwarding because the tutorial said to but thanks for the advice

@@Eric_Smith2662 Yes, you can use the dosdude1 patcher on this computer, but considering 10.12 already supports tapbacks, I'm not sure if it's worth it. There is a similar app called BlueBubbles that works on 10.13, but if AirMessage is already running fine for you I don't know if it's worth it to update and try
Edit - To give complete access you have to be on at least 10.14 Mojave (and I don't suggest patching past Mojave)

Tanish Patki I’d go as far as saying most of south/Central America too. I believe it’s cause most people are on different phones where the messaging apps are either clunky or too varied amongst cellphones. So whatapp comes in to unify them into a seamless MMS that works on even the most basic smartphones. Plus it allows WiFi users to call through WiFi despite maybe even having bad coverage. All-in-all it’s a more universal service than iMessage

It took me a bit to understand and sort out but I have AirMessage working on my Note 10+ using a 2010 iMac Pro as the server. Now I will have to invest in a 1TB SSD for my iMac to keep from ruining the HDD since you have to keep the iMac up and running at all times to keep the server active otherwise you will not be able to use iMessages/AirMessages properly. Great video fellas!
