    Loved watching the first xr200 video and now this one. Really love all things old. Giving me some motivation to put my basket case KDX together.
    In that first video where you were chasing the idle, i noticed the throttle cable was hung up on the fuel tank. Noticed it was routed under the tank on this video. Thanks for posting!

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  2 месяца назад

      Thanks man, yeah it may have been hung up but I had that tank off a gazillion times to get to the carb. I eventually got it routed correctly though. That was was my first thought was a hanging cable. Couldn’t have been that easy lol

    Good job troubleshooting the auto problem, my patients would’ve worn thin lol. Fantastic Bike that art ought to be a keeper. Those are fantastic bikes they will run forever without many issues if they’re maintained. Still looking forward to the Yamaha 175 ride

    These bikes, the XR/XL and the Yamaha TT/XT bikes are great bikes! Maybe someday the manufacturers will figure there's sales in simple reliable bikes again.

      @@Garage2Trail As soon as I find a proper headlight I will have completed a refresh on an 83' Yamaha TT 600. New valves, guides, springs, cam chain and gears, proper suspension rebuild, some new panels, some from the overpriced online market known as fleabay. 🤣

    I’ll be damned the old triumphs used to do that I remember forever my buddies were trying to straighten that out on the 650 Bonnevilles. They would hunt and surge like there’s no tomorrow. Good on you. I’m glad you got it sorted.

    Result! I was sure it was a carb issue ...... bet you are relieved at sorting that. AFAIK, air filter housings without a backfire mesh need a flameproof filter oil.

    order yourself a barnett clutch. friction plates, steel plates and springs. they are pretty reasonably priced fore these.
    also, try and buy an exhaust for a china bike thats the similar engine platform, it really wakes them up and they sound better imo. something like a zongshen 250

    You should be able to get a grease zerk fitting to match your grease gun

  • @SASQUATCH205

    You should put Honda M-77 assembly paste on the countershaft to help prevent spline wear and damage.

    Perhaps the front tyre is not quite seated correctly all the way round the rim or/and it needs shuffling round to balance with the valve. There is sometimes(but not always) a dot on the sidewall that indicates the lightest point of the tyre and hence where to place the valve. Good explanation of that ign timing/idle problem, that(albeit belated😁) solution will help you sometime in the future.

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  2 месяца назад

      I thought so too, but the front and rear beads are seated correctly. I’ll get it figured out. I really wasn’t going fast enough for it to be balance the more I think about it. Learning new stuff all the time! 😃

  • @thomaswaldorf9141

    I would look at timing chain wear, slack adjuster could be worn, aswell as stretched chain.

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  2 месяца назад

      I did loosen up the chain tensioner bolt after I got it running and it did quiet up the chain a bit. It’s still pretty quiet. I’ll probably eventually rebuild the top end after a while.

      I thought they might be but I don’t have any play in them. I’ll get a good woods ride in on them and access it after again. I def need to shoot some grease into those zerk fittings.

    How do you prefer oiling your air filter?

    • @Garage2Trail
      @Garage2Trail  Месяц назад +1

      I used a spray on oil from Maxima. Goes on blue so you know when you are fully covered. Light coat inside and out then I work it in by hand adding oil where it’s needed.
