I had the privilege to live there for two years during the pandemic and I enjoyed living there my family still lives there and my mom used to work at the cannery when it was open. The fishing there is awesome I live the halibut fishing over the salmon fishing. I’ll be going back next July/August to go fishing and see all my family and friends .
Do you think this tour was worth it or should we just walk into town and check out the shops? It look like you’re using a GoPro, The reflection in the salmon heads. why didn’t you use the anti-wind option when you’re outside with all that terrible went? Different camera 📷? Thanks for the video we will be there in about a month.
This was actually a free tour that Viking gave us. We would not have paid for it. We’re not sure if we would’ve walked all the way into town, But it’s only a mile and a half each way. Not much to see there. I did have the wind noise option on my GoPro, it was very windy! Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
It’s about a mile and a half to town. Mostly flat. Not a lot to see though. They might have a free (or cheap) shuttle. We were on a free tour from Viking cruises. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
We are leaving on the Norwegian Bliss on October 1st we were supposed to stop in Skagway which was one of the main reasons for picking that cruise. Well they canceled Skagway due to the slides, and switched it to Icy Strait Point. I was so looking forward to the railway in Skagway I'm not sure we will enjoy Icy Strait Point as much but such is life.
We’re going back to Icy Straight Point next week. We would suggest booking a tour. There is not much to do in the town of Hoonah. We did the bear search tour, but didn’t see any bears. We booked it again for this time. Hopefully we will see a bear. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Great video, with good information about what's right at the port. I would only suggest looking into getting a wind sock microphone for when you're in such windy conditions. It was hard to hear you at some points.
It was included as part of our cruise. Viking gives a free tour in each port and this was it. Holland America has a tour that sounds like ours for $65. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Thanks for that. We see that we went back and forth on the spelling. We don't know if it was auto-correct or oversight but we are correcting it. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
This was in August 2019. We went back on the same tour two weeks ago and saw three bears. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
Icy Strait Point was created to cater to cruise ships. The town of Hoonah not so much. It is owned and operated. by Native Americans. Thank you for your comments. Thank you for subscribing to our channel.

@@PortMonkeys Thanks for the info I think we’re just gonna walk around and enjoy the sites or take a whale watching boat.
Enjoyed your video. We will be there in a month. How far do you think it is to walk into town? I’m 71 and not sure I could do a really long walk.

@@PortMonkeys We were thinking about the tour to see the wildlife but it sounds like a lot of walking, nether of us are great a walking distances.

Hello there Kaili nice meeting you here
It’s the typo I hope. It’s “strait”, not “straight”.
Thanks for that. We see that we went back and forth on the spelling. We don't know if it was auto-correct or oversight but we are correcting it. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
