    PNW Range Gen3 bars. 5° up sweep - 10° back sweep - 30mm rise. For me these feel just right and very compliant, especially for an aluminum set of bars. With the 10° back sweep it shortens the reach a bit, but there's not much need to roll the bar back to get the right feel. And I totally agree with you about carbon bars, cranks and seat rails... never.

      These bars have made a massive difference for me. No more wrist/palm pain either.

    I’m using the 38mm PNW Loam carbon bar and loving it. With carbon, you just have to make sure everything is clean in install and absolutely use a torque wrench for all bolts. Alloy Stumpy Evo bike, carbon wheels, carbon bar, Smashpot Fox36 Rhythm, rides so good! Running Butcher T9 front, Kryptotal Re Soft rear.

    Glad i stumbled across this video.
    I bought the FUNN equalizer stem to try and help with a reach that's a touch too long and a stack that's a touch too low.
    I then thought about grabbing one of their bars, but i ended up grabbing the TAG Metals one, because the deal was just ridiculous.
    Cheers for sharing.

    TAG are good quality metals made in Holland if memory serves correct, running 40mm Renthals at 780 width at the moment.

  • @tinman8888
    @tinman8888 Год назад +1

    If you have different reach bikes do you compensate for that at all with bar width. As in if it was a touch longer than the 'perfect' number would you recommend trimming from 780 to 770 as an example, to avoid being overly stretched out and avoid having to roll them back (besides the extra tree clearance haha) Cheers mate.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Год назад +1

      Yeah definitely, within reason. A big bike with narrow bars becomes a bit of a handful when you start to gallop so you wanna still keep a functional width. I think for most people cutting down to no shorter than 740 would be the narrowest without losing too much control.

    Can't say I liked Renthals either. Went to a 30mm rise Burgtec with same bak & up sweep as my old Answers. Needed a bit more rise though, so went to a 38mm rise Burgtec in a 35 mm clamp. Thought it it might be a bit harsher than the old 31.8's, but it's not too bad.

    Funny I’ve just been messing around with riser bars lately. For a while now I’ve wanted to increase the front end height on my turbo Levo. It came with a 35mm riser. So I’ve put a spank spoon 60mm rise bar on and so far I love it. Looked a little motorcross at first but I’ve gotten over that.

    What do you prefer between 31.8 and 35?
    And what’s your opinion on renthal fatbar? Is it better than the tag metal?
    Nice video👍🏻

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Год назад

      The Renthal is a stiffer bar than the Tag at 35 clamp dia. I think I prefer the Tag’s compliance over the renthal but I’d have to test them back to back to be sure.
      As for diameter preference, I always liked the 31.8 Renthal. Felt solid, good compliance and super reliable. I don’t mind either as long as the bar isn’t too stiff

  • @Tonuky

    For me the One Up 35mm rise are killer. The compliance is fantastic. Super comfortable ride.

    I exclusively run the renthal 20mm fatbar 31.8 clamp because I like the flat straight bar. The back sweep being too much really messes with my wrist angle. Question, off topic. Did you ever run a zeb on your slash ? If so was it worth it over the lyrik?

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Год назад

      Yeah I did. I had the A1 Zeb ultimate and pretty quickly put a Luftkappe on the spring to improve it. Standard spring wasnt great but the Luftkappe made it a much better fork.
      The lyrik was still the more supple fork, but the Zeb was clearly stronger and felt more solid up front

( the grips ) im thinking of going for the ODI elite? would you recommend them or another grip? ( still get hand pump real bad with these grips more so than the stock ones on my bike - unfortunately i no longer have the original grips) thanks again mate for your advice and info in advance!

    do you ever get pain in forearms by the elbow, the lower part, aka golfer's elbow? If so what does that tell you about bar height/roll, reach? Struggling to get rid of it with new bike.

    • @mtbtelly5522
      @mtbtelly5522  Год назад

      I’m thinking maybe bars are rolled too far forward creating too much upsweep and eliminating backsweep? Or potentially you have a general posture issue, with the elbow issue stemming from a shoulder or upper back issue
