Should have went to a local Turkish/ Lebanese spot for your Kebabs (Shish and Doner). They usually have amazing grilled items as well such as wing, fish, lamb chops etc...Take a trip down "Green lanes" and thank me later✌
I lived on Green Lanes for best part of a decade, one of the reasons I stayed that long was for the food. Many of the Turkish joints were open 24 hours and you could get breakfast (Pascha soup with lamb, yogurt and garlic) and kebabs absolutely off the chain. The prices have gone up a lot in recent years as the area has become more gentrified. They're still good, though.

'German Doner Kebab' isn't really the same as the typical British kebab. As the name states, it's a German kebab chain, serving German-style kebabs, and the waffle-looking bread is what they use. In typical Kebab shops in the UK, they use pita bread, or even naan bread, and the doner meat is made with lamb, not beef. You can get chicken and shish (lamb) kebab as well, but these will be skewers of marinated meat that are grilled. This is all served with salad and your choice of sauce. And the chili sauce is like the kind you got from Morley's, but each takeaway will typical make their own. So yeah, you haven't really had the authentic experience, but perhaps you prefer the German-style of kebab.
In Scotland you only call someone big man if they are even just an inch taller than you, and wee man if you are just an inch taller than them or older than them. It sounds a bit confusing but it is actually an instinctive thing.

Hey BenDeen, you had an enjoyable "Kebob" feast. I haven't tried GDK but when I do I will try the Doner Box Fries. For a good "Kebob" experience you need to find a local chip shop or local kebab that cooks kebabs properly that's not drenched in grease. You will love chicken shish kebab, lamb doner kebab with salad and chilli sauce inside a pitta bread and lamb doner with chips. The perfect weekend food after a night out at the pub.
Hi Ben just got to tell you that Donna meat is lamb. Now you have to try the Turkish Donna. Completely different. Its chunks of meat and peppers char grilled and wrapped in a Turkish bread. The meat is marinated before grilling. Yummy lamb not beef lol

Ben, i really enjoy your videos - watching them makes me wanna eat all the wrong foods (but I can't because I'm 44 and I don't want to have a cardiac arrest within 15 years)....just to say, I would encourage you to revise the kebab...there's a whole plethora of Turkish, independently run, kebab houses all over London (not sure where you are in the city, but it doesn't matter - you'll find one). Don't limit yourself to donner kebab; I recommend trying their kofte, lamb, shish, chicken shish...in fact, I'm sure there's a mixed kebab (and you can have all the meat in the pita bread)...that's a true representation of kebabs in the UK (not limited to London)
the strong and garlic sauce is a must for me. but was that all the sauce you got or did you choose how much sauce you wanted. because that amount is only enough for half a kebab.😃
GDK is a global chain that is even available in the states, you need to go to your local kebab shop and ask for meat and chips with all sauces and the vegetables of your choosing Also you need to try Pepe’s, its better than Nando’s
I have been to GDK many times. The quality is always very good even if comparatively expensive. I have had some doner kebabs from independent shops which are better, but I've also had a lot worse. If you have a local kebab shop you've bought from before and know is good then by all means go there but otherwise GDK is a safe option.

chip/fry explanation: chips with a rectangle profile are steak cut chips and have a bigger surface area for sopping up the meat juices from a good steak. the thicker chips with square profile are just normal chips the type you'll find in most fish and chips shops, and the skinny chips like McDonalds we call fry's probably because of McDonalds or American influence

Textures? Tremendous.
Flavours? Fantastic.
You’re right, Ben. This is the ultimate “drunk” food. I’m old and have been doing it for years. Enjoy brother 🙏🏻
Once he wakes up with a kebab on his pillow he will earn his British card. Bonus points if it is from somewhere miles away that you have no recollection of ever being in 👍😂
Kebab and the juice of the lady next to him that he met in the taxi rank you mean
I think a episode of trying different UK snacks will be good
Yeahh it'd be fun, whenever I see videos doing british snacks they always do stuff like marmite, and I'm here like is that even a snack?? Loads of people don't even like or eat marmite and yet its presented to others like it's a super common thing lmao
@@puttingmyphoneoncharge im presuming that ur american, Marmite is basically the same as vegemite with a bit of added thickness and slightly saltier
I never thought watching you eat would be so satisfying?
You can't beat a Donner kebab on the way home from the pub.
Its not advised but people certainly do, lettuce and garlic sauce trails all the way home
GDK is really good. I enjoyed their wraps, as well as their spring rolls. Even when it's a bit greasy, I still love the food.
the strong and garlic sauce is a must for me. but was that all the sauce you got or did you choose how much sauce you wanted. because that amount is only enough for half a kebab.😃
German Doner Kebab…smh lol
I hope he tries a local kebab shop one before leaving the UK.
GDK is a global chain that is even available in the states, you need to go to your local kebab shop and ask for meat and chips with all sauces and the vegetables of your choosing
Also you need to try Pepe’s, its better than Nando’s
Ben, please please try a selection of snacks from Marks & Spencer, they are the most unique
YES this! Especially a Colin the Caterpillar Cake and Percy Pigs
And cheese tasters, a far superior version of cheeto puffs!
I have been to GDK many times. The quality is always very good even if comparatively expensive. I have had some doner kebabs from independent shops which are better, but I've also had a lot worse. If you have a local kebab shop you've bought from before and know is good then by all means go there but otherwise GDK is a safe option.
Hearing it pronounced like 'donor ' instead of 'Donna ' is killer
Isn't it fascinating how we're hooked on watching some random guy (sorry Ben) eat. Ben seems so down to earth and genuine. Maybe that's it.
Broo should of went to a Turkish kebab van and got one😂 atleast try a proper lamb kebab from a kebab van or local kebab shop off camera when you can
if you want a proper authentic british kebab it has to come from 'best kebab house' not a chain but there is one on every corner
Haha turkish speaking only
How can they all be "best"? Same way all chip shops are "award winning"
@@dogblessamerica relax. Don't take it seriously
pretty much lol. its a bit of a meme in the uk@@dogblessamerica
Thanks for trying this out!
Thinking about ordering it here in Toronto, Ontario.
Any local kebab spot beats GDK imo
GDK is incredibly overrated
i'm with you on small menus places with large menus tend to do a lot of things badly.
Gdk lmaoooo😂😂😂😮
Before you leave London Ben, please visit the seven stars , 53 Cary Street. It really is one of the very oldest pubs in London. It’s tiny and the food is amazing. Get there at 12.30 as the food sells out very quickly and when it’s gone, it’s gone.
That burrito was fighting for its life 😂😂😂
Dürüm*
When adding the sauce on top and you devour just the top of the kebab, it triggers my ocd tendencies majorly... Don't know why, it just does. Love the videos Ben. God bless and lots of love from Norway.
TRY A LAMB KEBAB NOW!
chip/fry explanation: chips with a rectangle profile are steak cut chips and have a bigger surface area for sopping up the meat juices from a good steak. the thicker chips with square profile are just normal chips the type you'll find in most fish and chips shops, and the skinny chips like McDonalds we call fry's probably because of McDonalds or American influence
My local takeaway works out around $13-15 for a kingsize kebab on a naan with sauces.
That GDK prices are insane 😂
actually looked decent but not for that price.
Ohhh like at the place where you're from?
@@MrDooMxX no when I go across to Turkey on a 5 hour flight, 2 hour drive and arrive at the foot of the mountains to get my bi-weekly kebab from a great street food vendor named Baarak
"Keep something for ringlady"
Bro is leaving almost always sloppy seconds 😂
Donna and keybab is how we pronounce it haha. Doesnt even need to be GDK. Most chip shops will do a good doner , it really really hits after a night out. Yoghurt mint and chilli are my go to sauces
Ben eats like Pac-Man but his videos are really addictive…good work mate🥙
HAHA nailed it
