My first new truck was a red 1987 Toyota 4x4 extra cab SR5 manual 5 speed with manual locking locking hubs. It cost $15K and it towed my river drift boat, 17 foot aluminum jet sled and also my 16 foot Arima off shore fishing boat as well. It came with a 22RE 4 cylinder engine and I loved it! I should've never let it slide thru my hands. Build me another one of those with maybe a sixth gear and I'd buy one tomorrow! Just sayin. You could color me happy for sure! - "Fish On John" - 😊

In 1982, I paid $5995 for a Mazda B2000 pick up. A 5 speed, no radio, hand crank windows, and no ac. In 2024, I know that it is still on the road in SoCal being used as a gardening truck. Two head gaskets and two rear engine seals replaced including routine maintenance. I don’t know how many miles are on it, but we’ll worth the money. I sold it in 1994 to a buddy who sold it in 2005 to his Gardner.

This stigma with trucks is getting out of hand, how about a $10,000 Van or Car? To own and drive a farming truck in the city is just plain stupid. I guess no one was listening.
Nobody will listen when you call them stupid...when the trucks have more interior room give better vision by sitting higher. And as you age, a truck is easier to enter and exit. If its not your thing fine, I use my truck to pull trailers to disaster areas in the gulf, I need the power ground clearance and comfort.
