China's Rise: Why U.S. Threats & Provocations Will Not Succeed

  • A second congressional delegation went to Taiwan this week, less than two weeks after Pelosi visited. These trips have sparked a sense of outrage among many Chinese people, who demand respect for their sovereignty and for their impressive social and economic achievements. This includes massive poverty reduction and surpassing the United States in key indicators like life expectancy. How is U.S. aggression against China related to their continuous rise?
Brian is joined by Tings Chak, Shanghai-based researcher at the Tricontinental Institute & a member of Dongsheng News collective and the author of the pamphlet "Serve the People: The Eradication of Extreme Poverty in China."

A February 2022 survey by one Taiwan university even revealed that more residents support the 1992 Consensus based on the 1971 UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 (one-China principle), that means retaining the status quo is crucial for peace on both sides of the Straits.
The leadership elections is just two years from now where the DPP will lose steam.

Actually what we just to start China has achieved in 1949: e.g. the war between 99% and 1%, equality, true democracy. The reason that the CPC won over the KMT during the civil war is because that CPC has always kept people on its side and worked for the people. The KMT army could not get single drop water from villagers nor any information about whereabout of CPC government at the beginning of the civil war. The CPC is people based party and the member has to be evaluated and pass the evaluation from people who are in the same company, community. If you are not good enough, you just can't become CPC member. You still have to go through the probation. The CPC members are from everywhere, all sectors, and all ethnicities, yes including Uyghurs, Tibetans, Mongolians, Muslims, Christians. The CPC is completely different than our western parties in nature. It's a true democracy in China.

    • @Thanatar13
      @Thanatar13 8 месяцев назад +5

The US specifically doesn't want to learn from China's poverty alleviation, and it doesn't want other countries following China's footsteps as well. For instance, the development of poor peripheral regions, and the creation of real wealth (infrastructure, education, employment, social inclusion) rather than cash transfusions for the poor, is basically a kryptonite for western neoliberal policy (and nowadays? all the US has is neoliberals). Similarly, as the video references China's actions to curb the excesses of capital- the abuses of tech, finance, education-as-a-commodity, etc... imagine if such things were applied to the west, or to any other country (in which case it would be decried as "totalitarian government interference" and "bad for western business interests" and would likely face US attempts at regime change). And the video references, say- China's preventing Alibaba from unleashing loose credit upon the Chinese people- let's be frank, the US megacorporations and banks would sooner outright openly revolt than ever accept the loss of their indebted serf population domestically, let alone abroad- but there's a unilateral support on all sides in the US that such a thing would never happen. Also when one looks at say- in recent times, the Evergrande crisis- this is another example of how China's actions to create a harmonious and equitable society are intolerable for western capital- rather than a bailout for the speculator class, China is creating the conditions for a controlled burst while still ensuring the needs of the average citizen. Imagine if western markets were told during, say, the 2008 crisis, or during COVID, etc- "no bailouts for you, you're going to have to take the L while we rescue the average citizenry instead."
China represents the rise of socialism- not the welfare (handouts/table scraps/trickle-down) state, but an economy actually geared towards meeting the needs of the people rather than the profits of the elite. This rise also is the rise of an entity that can resist western coercion and attempts at plunder, and ushers in the return to multilateralism rather than the old imperialist order (which the US merely co-opted and rebranded with itself at the top). None of this is remotely acceptable to the west.

    1) In 1894, Japan invaded China and Korea, the Qing gov was defeated and signed the [Treaty of Shimonoseki] to cede Taiwan Island to Japan.
    2) During the WW2, at the Cairo Conference held in 1943, China asked the transfer of Taiwan's sovereignty back to China after the war. This content was included in the [Cairo Declaration] and later reiterated in the [Potsdam Proclamation] that it should be implemented.
    3) On 14 Aug 1945, the Emperor Showa of Japan issued the [End War Edict] , Japan surrendered unconditionally and accepted the [Potsdam Proclamation]. The Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Marshal MacArthur ordered the Japanese troops in Taiwan to surrender to KMT General Chiang Kai Shek. Taiwan re-entered the territory of the Republic Of China (ROC).
    4) Soon after that China civil war broke out between KMT and CPC, the KMT was defeated and fled to Taiwan. However, due to US intervention, the CPC without a strong navy at that time has no ability to unify Taiwan. The CPC then established the People's Republic of China (PRC) on 1949. The civil war continues...
    5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal gov under international law, and today the PRC also become China’s only legal gov recognized by 180 countries around the world, including the USA.
"The USA recognizes the Government of the PRC as the sole legal Government of China. Within this context, the people of the USA will maintain cultural, commercial, and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan."
Joint Cummunique on the Establishment of Diplomatic relations between the PRC and the USA (December 16 1978)
    6) Therefore, according to international law, international reality, and the wishes of the 1.4 billion Chinese people, Taiwan should return to PRC and the PRC have every rights to protect it's sovereign integrity.

the secret is China don't really care about the visit. China only cares about the real situation, that is the point of the military exercise, China now control the Taiwan Strait and there is nothing US can do about it. even if the entire congress visit Taiwan, it still won't change the fact that China control the Taiwan Strait. in fact the visit serve as a cover prevent the White House from intervening in China takeover of the Taiwan Strait. as for the island itself, it not a priority, as the ex chief of staff of Taiwan said "Taiwan is not going to swim away, we will forever be the same distance from the mainland", so the political rhetoric doesn't matter to China, the chicken is in the basket, and the longer China wait, the wider the advantage China has.
all the talk that China would make a move is based on the idea that Xi Jinping want to have his name in the history book. that's naive, if Xi want to have his name in the history book, he could land a person on mars and set global history. there is alot of thing the chinese leadership can do if they are after fame, but I don't see Taiwan as a big issue since most Chinese already see it as cooked riced. furthermore China does not have a presidential system. Deng Xiaoping was never president, so Xi Jinping doesn't need to stay in the presidential office to laid down his achievement, he can always do what Deng Xiaoping did and stay in control behind the stage, so I just don't see Xi as being limited to needing to do something by term X, he doesn't even need to be in office to be in charge since the presidency in China is a ceremonial role.

America might see Chinas ( apart from military exercises) failure to act as weakness so is emboldened to send more politicians to Taiwan. They will carry on with these provocations, while China is quietly preparing a devastating response which will take America completely by surprise.

It’s simple. The US does not want China and Taiwan to unify because that would make both China and Taiwan stronger. The US will have no business or relevance in that region known as the South China Sea.
However if the US were to fabricate some kind of semi official arrangement to keep China and Taiwan separated, that would make China separately weaker and Taiwan separately weaker. This gives the US the outrageous excuse to maintain their presence.
    In coded BS language:
    1. To ‘maintain a free and open Indo Pacific’.
    2. ‘keeping the peace by maintaining the status quo.’
Overseas Chinese cannot stand US and western hypocrisy because they have experienced first hand US and western prejudice and racism against them. They know and they have experienced.
The best way forward for China and Taiwan to have peace and prosperity for its people is undoubtedly to unite. This is the will of the majority of overseas Chinese because they understand US satanic craftiness and US satanic evil to create conflict and hostility to exploit opportunity.

US hostility has nothing to do with "freedom and democracy" for Taiwan or the Chinese in Taiwan. Whether China is "democratic" or not will not really change America's attitude to it or to the Chinese. When you put China-US relationship in historical context, it's easy to understand the animosity America as a government and nation feels against the Chinese and China. After its independence and its own war against colonialism and imperialism, America itself did a volte face and joined the ranks of imperialist powers. It seized territories from Mexico, the Kingdom of Hawaii, islands, other islands in the Pacific, and replaced European colonial powers with itself. This happened famously in the Philippines and many south American colonies. It saw China as a ripe plum, ready for picking and went for it with guns blazing. America had experience of dealing with Chinese people - it hated them and banned them from entering the US by passing the Chinese Exclusion Act, the only law aimed specifically at a race of people. To prevent those who were already in the US from procreation and "spreading like weeds", it had also passed the Page Act to prevent Chinese women entering the US. The US, like other European colonial powers of the time found China a nation weakened by an incompetent and corrupt Manchu dynasty. It was easy of them to carve China up like a Christmas turkey and bleed China as much as they liked. This they did with opium and by exacting huge war reparations from the very wars their drug pushing to the Chinese started. Fast forward to recent times. China under the CPC has become a prosperous nation that is no longer militarily or economically weak. Rather it has demonstrated to the world that by dint of sacrificial hard work, determination and good governance, there is an alternative to the dogmatic and ruthless capitalism of the west, particularly the monolithic, monopolar world with America on top of the pyramid of nation and dominating everything from fast foods to financial transactions at the point of a gun. This was an affront to America. How could a race it despised, long before the CPC was even founded, rise to offer an alternative way nations could rise from ashes to prosperity. This contempt America has always felt has little to do with communism. Had China risen as a western styled "democracy" but tried to be independent, the hate and animosity would just be as strong. The only way it would be accepted by America is as a docile minion, like Britain, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, India, etc. i.e. the rest of the world, except for a few nations which continue to defy the US. China has rightly refused to bow to US hegemony. Despite America's puffed up ego, imagining that it has been appointed by divine fiat as "a shining beacon on a hill" to lead and rule the world, China has other plans. So, as long as the exceptionalism of the US is accepted by the western nations, and they supinely continue to obey the diktat of Washington, the relationship between America, its minions and China will be tensed and fractious. It is difficult to expunge from America's body politic hatred and racism which have tainted its perception.

Christ was a socialist and a pacifist. His philosophy was so powerful that the establishment sees it as a threat to their way of life and so he had to be killed. The progression from capitalism to socialism starts with the Russian Revolution which in time failed and now China has taken up the challenge to put socialism into practice after the Chinese revolution in 1949. President Xi further advanced socialism with his vision of socialism with Chinese characteristics One Belt One Road Initiative at home and abroad. The program is so successful that US seeks to stop it any way possible with lies and threats. The West especially the US must realize that capitalism is no longer viable as a governing policy in the 21st century, an age that when we work together can eliminate poverty, eliminate diseases, and eliminate war. No, China was weak because her totalitarian and power hoarding Empress Dowager of Qing Dynasty was too narcissitic to listen to advise of her officials in court.

100 years of humiliation is NOT "it looked like one was better off living under colonialism".
Chinese people were sold as slaves.
Lands were forcibly taken by colonizers.
Arts, gold, silver, treasuries were stolen
      people were treated like animals
These constitute the 100 years of humiliation
For thousands of years, China had trade and commerce. They were living peaceful lives until colonizers came.
And it is all downhill from there.
From the 100 years of humiliation, the Chinese learned that to have and maintain prosperity, the country has to have military might to protect itself from imperialists.

As Professor Richard Wolff indicates, China has never been a communist country. Its ruling party has the C-word, but communism has never been carried out because the people was not willing to accept communism, so the party settled for socialism, viewed as a prelude to communism that was never carried out. The GLF crept closer, but communism was never reached.

The truth of the matter is that politicians in the West and the US including Australia (Australia which is psychologically totally confused and suffering from an identity crisis as it thinks it is "west" when the reality is that it is geographically part of Asia!!!), are still stuck in their mental capacity and attitude in the glory days of "empire" 5-6 centuries ago.
They may have learned to wear Gucci suits nowadays but nothing else seem to have evolved in their psyche and consciousness from their barbarian days. Instead of recognising their sordid past and history , they celebrate their delusions like "Thanksgiving Day" which the Native American Indians rightly and clearly remember and commemorate as their "Day of Mourning" being the beginning of the murdering, genociding, plundering, stealing, raping and ultimately, OCCUPATION , of their land uninvited, without any due compensation even till today.
But these thieves and robbers take a lot of pride in the stories they tell themselves and sell to the world how great their "founding" was!!! Same stories with the "Empire" where the sun never sets. Australia with the Aborigines. New Zealand with their Maoris. The African continent with all those Europeans...........it goes on and on. This is the 21st Century , for chrissakes! Grow up and come out of that sick and primitive mentality of never ending desire to dominate, control and subjugate.
The zillions of dollars spent on wars and "defence" and the other zillions being hoarded by the 1% is more than sufficient to provide every human being on the planet a very decent and never anything wanting life on this planet with the healthiest and cleanest environment. And we pride ourselves as being the only creature on earth with the intelligence, consciousness and capacity of free will and choice. And these sick politicians choose never ending squabbles, tensions and wars!!! Go figure.

American activist and social media expert Jerry Day has called on the American nation to recognize the war crimes the U.S. government, military and corporate deep-state have committed in the Middle East and rest of the world. “They [U.S.] are simply bombing whatever they want to bomb, killing whoever they want to kill, destroying whatever they choose to destroy without legal grounds. We are the new global villain," said Day. www.yenisafak.com/en/video-gallery/news/us-is-new-global-villain-says-american-activist-2167332 Broken Treaties ruclips.net/video/uOeGTWYv8Hc/видео.html

From 1964 to 1973, the U.S. dropped more than two million tons of ordnance on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions-equal to a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24-hours a day, for 9 years - making Laos the most heavily bombed country per capita in history. The bombings were part of the U.S. Secret War in Laos to support the Royal Lao Government against the Pathet Lao and to interdict traffic along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The bombings destroyed many villages and displaced hundreds of thousands of Lao civilians during the nine-year period.
Five years ago, the US forces, using the fake intelligence of a staged video by “White Helmets” as evidence, conducted the so-called “most precise air strikes in history” in Syria, killing more than 1,600 innocent civilians. In recent years, the international community has been calling for investigations into the killing of civilians in the US’ overseas military operations. On Syria alone, the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic pointed out several times in its reports in September 2019 and February 2021 that the US failed to distinguish military targets from civilians in its air strikes in Syria, which gravely violates international humanitarian law and may constitute war crimes. However, the US government has been turning a deaf ear to all this.
According to reports, over the past nearly two decades, the US conducted over 90,000 air strikes in countries including Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, which may have killed up to 48,000 civilians. But the US military time and again covered up the facts and refused to apologize, admit its crimes or hold the perpetrators accountable. It did everything possible to evade its responsibilities.
On the drone strike of civilians in Afghanistan, a Pentagon spokesperson said openly in December 2021 that no US soldiers will face disciplinary action over it. The US media also disclosed at the end of last year that from 2014 to 2019, the US military turned its guns on farmers in the middle of harvest, children playing in the streets, families fleeing the fighting and villagers taking shelter in buildings. These disastrous crimes were deliberately concealed and whitewashed. US media revealed last year that according to the US military’s own confidential assessments of more than 1,300 reports of civilian casualties, civilian casualties in US air strikes have been “significantly undercounted”. Larry Lewis, a Director at the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) of the US said that on average at least one incident of civilian harm has happened every week since 9/11.
There has been an overall pattern of negligence with regard to the US government on the issue of civilian harm. The US has also obstructed the International Criminal Court’s investigations into its war crimes in Afghanistan.  Every human life, regardless of nationality, race, religion or values, is equal and precious. The US should earnestly respond to the strong call of the international community, conduct a credible, independent and impartial investigation into civilian casualties caused by US air strikes, and hold the people concerned accountable.
