Custom Quilting in the Hoop Part 1 With Your BERNINA

- Here we are on the BERNINA 790 Pro taking advantage of the laser and custom quilting this small sample quilt. The designs we used are from OESD Wanderlust Quilting.
OESD Link, copy and paste it into browser. Make sure to include the 321245, for some reason youtube isn't linking the entire link together.

Cutting Instructions for follow along block.
Outer Border 3”
Pink - cut 2@ 20 ½”
Pink - cut 2@ 15 ½”
Squares
Blue - Cut 2 @ 5 ½”
Center
Orange - Cut 1 @ 5 ½” x 15 ½”
Half Square Triangles
Cut 1 Orange Fabric @ 8 ¾” sq.
Cut 1 Blue Fabric @ 8 ¾” sq.
Sew both square pieces RST along all four sides of the squares, then cut diagonally from each corner. Now press seams open and trim to 5 ½” sq
Now piece each row together, then add the borders. This little quilt can be designed a few different ways with the pieces we’ve cut and created.
I’m so sorry to hear about Pete. He was so full of personality and I’m glad you gave him a wonderful home and life. Birds have a lot of personality and can be great companions. He was a lucky boy.

Cody, that was a fabulous tutorial, I learned so much. Cannot wait for the next installment. Your tips on batting for use with the clamp hoop is invaluable, I came unstuck using a thicker batting. So sorry to hear about Pete, they are family and it hurts so.

I am so sorry about Pete, I know what it is to lose a special pet. LOVE the video and have missed seeing you. I have a question, you mentioned about Bernina coming out with a larger hoop, when and how much larger will it be. I have the hoop you are using, and LOVE it. I also have the 790Plus, cannot afford the 790PRO, since my machine is only a little over a year old. Please let us know what is planned for the new hoop and when you think it might be coming out, I will make sure to order it. I will use your link to get the OESD designs, thank you.
We should expect to see the new hoop in July August and we are hoping for at least a 8 x 16 hoop that is rectangular.

Hi Cody, why do you not start in the middle of the quilt to embroider? Is this the trick to get it aligned
I have a 770 QE and I find that I get an ugly nest of top thread on the back of my quilt. I do pull up the bobbin (needle down/up) and I hold the tails at the start, but it still makes a mess on the back. I see your 790 has a "quilting" button, but the 770 does not. Is there some combination of settings (knot, thread-away, etc.) that would give better quilting results?
I'll answer my own question, in case anyone else needs to know. I found the answer in your older video about the clamp hoop when it was new. You turn OFF the knot at the beginning, hold the tails, then hand tie and bury them after the stitch out. Thank you!!!
