Beautifully instructed. I enjoyed spending the last two days with you at Jon's Sewing Machines in Wolcott, NY. He's a fantastic Bernina dealer. I picked up a couple of additional tips from this video. Keep them coming! Thank you.
Thank you so much I just bought the B 990 and I have the medium clamp hoop . I have been wondering how to use this and you really make me feel like this will be so easy without being scared. Great video.
Wow! Fabulous practical info. I’ve had my 790 Pro since December and have tried this once, but I think by watching your explanation it will be easier! Thanks so much!❤
I learned so much from this video about quilting in the hoop when using the 790 Pro with the medium clamp hoop. Your detailed instructions are wonderful. Thank you so much! ... Looking forward to any future quilting in the hoop videos you may be doing.
You are the best Shelley! I just learned so much from your explanations. I’ve had my 790 pro since December and have done some of these designs, but I can see that I wasn’t doing it properly and you have just given so many wonderful tips.
This is a great video to learn quilting in the hoop. You're a fantastic teacher! I really appreciate your explanation of your simple techniques to insure success. Can't wait to try it out. Thank you!!
Oh my Shelly, I really learned so much from this video. I bought the medium clamp hoop for myself at Christmas and it’s never been out of the box. I am really excited to finish a quilt I just made for one of my grandsons and this video will help me finish it perfectly! Thank you so much!
Shelly you are awesome! We love you your video’s. You are so knowledgeable about our precious machines, and personally, I can’t get enough information! Thanks for taking the time to share with us so we can attempt to be better at working at our hobby!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When you stitched in the ditch to secure the layers, how does that look on the back with that beautiful quilting design? Thank you so much for this great video. I am new to the 790 Pro.
I used a very thin Invisafil by Wonderfil thread to stitch in the ditch and stabilize this quilt, eliminating the need for pins. Additionally, I have successfully spray basted large quilts with Odif 505 for added stability.
I use whatever bobbin I want showing on the backing. I do usually match the color but not always the weight. I use invisifil or maybe a 50 weight cotton. I adjust the tension if needed to compensate for different thread weights.
Great video and so helpful. Your quilt looks like it has all the same blocks and you are using the same quilting design in each. Do you have other videos or information on using the 790 pro that might require different designs in different areas or end to end quilting?
Glad it was helpful! This is the only video I have right now. I will do another soon. The premise is exactly the same when you use different designs in different blocks. In this video you will notice that I go out and choose the design each time. I could have been choosing a different design each time I just wanted to all over look on this quilt.
You can do a queen. You only have from the center out under the arm of the machine at one time. When you stitch the very center you will have the watch the part that is bunched up but there is not that much of it and then you are spreading out.
Thanks for another great video. This is a little off topic but is there a way To design background quilting for sound an embroidery or applique that can be done in the hoop? I hate to flatten applique by quilting over it?
The new 990 will be amazing for this! You can scan the applique project in the hoop. Send it to your V9 software to digitize the quiliting around the design and then send it back to the 990 for stitching. Really cool stuff.
Robin, Yes and no. The B880 Plus, which I own and love, can use the medium clamp hoop. It can also do beautiful quilting in the hoop with embroidery desoins. The difference is it will only use two point pinpoint placement rather than 4 point placement which will morph a design. Also the designs will be .exp (or other) embroidery files and not infinitely resizable BQM files. Soooooo...... the designs you use need to be the size and shape you want to use before you open it in the 880. BERNINA V-9 software would be helpful.
I will buy a med clamp tomorrow. Is this a the procedure for embroidery in the hoop? It used to be so involved, how do you change thread colors, I could probably read it in the Embroidery book.
It is a great hoop. This video is showing quilting in the hoop. For most regular embroidery you will take the hoop off of the machine, hoop your project and then attach the hoop to the machine again.
@@SewShelly thanks! I have done four small quilts, 8”, 6”, 9”, and 8.5” blocks. I wasn’t using my machine table and I was taking my hoop off to hoop the next block. I am going to try it your way. I used to have a Gammill on which I did hand guiding. I like this so much more. I also like the tip to use monofilament for the stitch in the ditch! I can’t make my tops fast enough to get back to the quilting!
Hi I’m have a he B790 Not the pro But can I use this square hoop and design a n my machine What is the square hoop called with the clamps Want to order it
I saw what the 990 can do but unfortunately I cannot afford it, so had hoped there were ways to do in the software around the appliqué… not limited to the background stippling and echoing… sigh🥲
Thank you so much! This is great info!
Very helpful
Great tutorial, Thank you so much. It's very helpful.

This is brilliant and I learned so much! Thanks SOOOO much, Shelly! You’re a superb instructor!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent tutorial! I'm upgrading to the pro from my 790+. What batting did you use? I struggle with those clamps.
Would like to see more tutorials on the 790 PRO Embroidery.
Sure thing!
When you stitched in the ditch to secure the layers, how does that look on the back with that beautiful quilting design? Thank you so much for this great video. I am new to the 790 Pro.
Thank you Shelley for such a clear demo!
You are welcome!
Now I understand a lot better. Thanks.
Do you go back and trim the long bobbin threads after you finish each block?
Excellent video.
Beautiful work!
I appreciate this blow by blow training. Thank you so much❤

Which thread do you use in th ebobbin when quilting with the 100 weight thread?
The best, I have enjoyed your
Tutorials so much, give me confidence to try new projects. A big thank you,
Awesome! Thank you for your kind words.
I am also interested in what bobbin thread you use when basting your quilt with the Invisafil thread. Love your videos!

I learned so much from this video, explains it well. What size is this quilt? I would like to do a queen size but not sure if it would work. Thanks

J’aimerais savoir de quel grandeur est le cerceau que vous utilisez? Merci à l’avance et excellent vidéo
I am using the BERNINA Medium Clamp Hoop.

Great video! Is most of this possible with an 880 Plus? Can you do a queen size quilt with the medium clamp hoop? Thank you Shelley!

What size are your blocks? I learned a lot! Thanks
The blocks are 7 inches. The quilt pattern is Simplicity by Cozy Quilt Designs who is one of my favorite pattern designers.

Did you get rid of your 880? I went and looked at the 790 pro. I was quite impressed with it. But I'm waiting to see what the new 990 has to offer.
The new 990 is amazing. I just got mine set up yesterday. Be sure to head to your dealer and get a demonstration. I still have my 880 also.
do you baste each block
Thanks!
Thank you!

You have alot of clamps. Can we buy extra clamps?
There are 12 in the box with the hoop. I don't have extra.
