Apart from my local Bernina dealer you two guys are my favourite go-to persons when I have an issue or need inspiration. So seeing the two of you together on this nice vibe is so nice. More! We want more of Cody and Sylvain!
Sylvain, you have made some great videos and I watch them all IF I can find them! A few can be found on RUclips, but it sure would be nice if they were all on RUclips. I've gone to the Bernina sites, looked under every sub menu and just can't find them. For instance, you did one on threading, someone on the Bernina 7 and 8 series FB group recently was having threading and breakage problems. I thought it would help if she watched your video on threading but I simply couldn't find it to link it to her post. Please make all your videos easier to find, they would really help educated everyone. Cody, yours videos are easy to find on RUclips! I've watched them all! Thanks for this video, it was great!
I have a 2006 Bernina 200/730E, which I love, especially for garment sewing. I also have a Pfaff Creative Performance with built-in IDT (dual feed). I’ve owned several different models of Pfaff machines over the 50+ years I’ve been sewing, and I’ve never needed a walking foot with any of them. The IDT system is superior to Bernina’s built-in dual feed in my opinion. I worked for a Bernina retailer for about three years and sold many top-end machines. I also taught classes, including Mastery classes. So I’m very familiar with the dual feed function. Based on this experience, Pfaff has perfected their dual-feed system, and I use my Pfaff for both piecing and quilting. No walking foot required!
Great information. I had/have a Pfaff before purchasing my Bernina 790. I've had dual feed for years and years. My dealer reminded me before I left the store about the bobbin winder. You two put on a great show with lots of information. I'm going to rewatch and listen again about the wonky stitches.
Sylvain is so right! Cody’s customers ADORE him and we are always amazed at the information he carries around in that brain of his! So enjoyed seeing ya’ll together. Fun video!
Hi Cody & Sylvain - on the bobbin winder engaging at startup, Bernina Jeff in Colorado makes a 3D printed bobbin winder protector that you slip on prior to draping your machine with the dust cover. Keeps your winder safe & no more, 'uh-oh what's that noise' at startup. Thanks again for the great video!
Great Video. Extremely helpful for someone who has recently moved to a Bernina 590 from another another "dual feed" system. I am amazed at how well I've adjusted to my Bernina - mainly due to watching this video with Cody and Sylvain! I highly recommend getting the walking foot - it works great with the dual feed system on my 590.
Cody and Sylvain, I truly enjoyed you both -- a wealth of information. I was in one of Sylvain's class and he encouraged me to use my left foot. At first it was a bit awkward but it has become the norm for me. Again thanks to you both.
Great tips- especially about the walking foot . I get the difference now. Also, I appreciate the level of precision in manufacturing the 1/4 inch feet. Still learning so much with these videos.❤
What a fanstastic, engaging and entertaining video. Thank you both for the great information and for making me smile. Your enthusiasm and positivity is inspiring!☺️😊
What a treat to watch a video with you two! I had the pleasure of working with and knowing Sylvian in Naperville at SnS, and Cody is a newer “friend” from RUclips where I’ve watched and throughly enjoyed his demonstrations for a few years now. Excellent instructors! Thank you both for this fun info session!
Thank you both so much for this video! Love your shirt! Could you share where you got your material? Y'all need to have more regular shows together. Looking forward to all the new information at BU...
Love you guys - I learn so much! I have a 475 QE and I use the thread cutter, BUT when I start to sew my next seam on my garment, I get a small nest of thread under the first couple of stitches. Is this normal or can i adjust something? I know I could go back to the old school system of needle up, needle down and hang on to the threads to start.....but I want to use the thread cutter feature. Thankyou.
I've got a Virtuosa 160 Plus which I've had for 20 years but never oiled it as it says in the manual not to!? It's my reserve machine so only used occasionally. Also, I tried to read in the transcript exactly what Sylvain said about the straight stitch on that machine but couldn't quite work it out but I think the gist of it was that it's a workhorse with a great straight stitch?!
Love these vieos! Question: When you have a thread break during embroidery, does the 790 make a Tie-on when it starts stitching again? I saw a video where someone was embroidering a Satin Stitch, and he simulated a thread break. But when he restarted, the machine did not make a Tie-on.
That is a good question and I honestly don’t have a definitive answer. I want to say yes because it starts off slow but I am not 100% sure. Will have to check that on that.
Wonderful video. I had no idea that I needed to adjust the height on the free motion quilting feet. Will Bernina ever make a 9 mm walking foot? I want to quilt with wide decorative stitches, and the dual feed just doesn’t work well enough.
Cody, I have a Bernette b79 that I purchased about 3 years ago and I can barely use. I've been watching your videos and trying to figure things out. Do you have a video for the JB invisible zipper foot tutorial? I have no idea how to use it install this piece. I'm a pretty advanced sewist, but this fancy machine I begged for is over my head.
I am struggling with a decision.....I have a recently purchased 700E and am now finding it's taking up way too much space - it looked smaller in the store. I am thinking about trading it in for a 500E or a Berniina 590E. I don't see myself becomiing an embroidery guru however, most are saying get a separate embroidery machine. What will I miss or gain with the 500E and 590E? I am stuck!
Could Bernina make a cover for the 700E that could fit over the Spool Holder? I have to take the Spool Holder off every time I finish embroidering to be able to use the provided cover.
Whenever I go to the Bernina site and open the user manual for my machine, I do not see a search box to search the manual. That was discussed. I would love to figure out how to do that. Please let me know where to find that. Thank you.
It's going to vary a bit by computer/platform but if you don't immediately see a search box (which you will sometimes) look for a magnifying glass. If you're not sure what various buttons do, most of the time you can hover over it and some text will describe what the button does. Worst case, if you don't have any luck, search RUclips for Searching a PDF.
Absolutely LOVE that foot shirt, Cody!!! Way too cool.
Apart from my local Bernina dealer you two guys are my favourite go-to persons when I have an issue or need inspiration. So seeing the two of you together on this nice vibe is so nice. More! We want more of Cody and Sylvain!
Sylvain is the best. Love, love, love him. Thanks for sharing all this knowledge to us.
He is!! 😊. You’re welcome thanks for watching 🥰

Cody, I love your shirt!!!
You two need your own show. This was wonderful. Both of you have been my BERNINA angels, always there to help. Thank you for doing this
I’m a nurse and I’m a hugger! LOL You guys are so cute together as well as being a well of knowledge; thank you so much!

Wow! So much solid information for Bernina owners. Thanks so much for this video!!

Cody I love that shirt! What great fabric!
Cody- Super fun shirt, custom made? Love that fabric!
Sylvain is so right! Cody’s customers ADORE him and we are always amazed at the information he carries around in that brain of his! So enjoyed seeing ya’ll together. Fun video!

For what purpose?
Easier to operate foot pedal with left foot and use right leg to operate the free hand system.
Great tips- especially about the walking foot . I get the difference now. Also, I appreciate the level of precision in manufacturing the 1/4 inch feet. Still learning so much with these videos.❤

Great video!
Love this video! Lots of great tips and informative.
Thanks a bunch. So much covered!
I love your shirt.
Fabulous tips thank you
Excellent show!
You guys were great! Thank you so much.
Such great information - y'all do need to do your own show - it's simple and not overproduced...so good.
I am from the south. Big hugger here too!❤😊
this was wonderful!!
Great video! I learned so much.
Thank you both so much for this video! Love your shirt! Could you share where you got your material? Y'all need to have more regular shows together. Looking forward to all the new information at BU...
Cody I love your shirt ! Where did you get the fabric? I would love to make one
Really enjoyed this video. Maybe next time include sergers. My L460 just started skipping stitches. Any ideas?
Excellent…learned a lot!!!❤
Fantastic video!! Thank you!

Fantastic! You two could do a TV show.
My first Bernina is the 1630. I still have it. From 1996

Thank you for this video. I always learn so much from both of you. ANOTHER QUESTION - DO YOU SELL A KIT FOR THAT BEAUTIFUL QUILT BEHIND YOU?
It is called Solare. Kits are available from several sources.
All of these tips were part my New Owner classes. I call the free hand system, the third hand.
Where are you located? I loved this video!!! 😊. He is coming to Raleigh and I am debating going. It’s 4 people

@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651 Ty for checking on this! I have talked with 2 different Dealers, and one told me yes, and one told me no.
Wonderful video. I had no idea that I needed to adjust the height on the free motion quilting feet. Will Bernina ever make a 9 mm walking foot? I want to quilt with wide decorative stitches, and the dual feed just doesn’t work well enough.

The Berninas are Divas. I have a 770 QE and I love it but when I got it I couldn’t believe how much oiling and cleaning it requires. I call her a diva
Love the quilt behind you, is there a pattern?
I love the quilt behind you. Will you tell me the name of the pattern please and if there is a kit for it?
Cody, I’m wanting to add dual needles to my projects! Do I need a different foot other then my #1 foot. I have 435 machine
Silvain has a car with a Millennial Anti-theft System(saw that on a meme, LOLs!!!
I am struggling with a decision.....I have a recently purchased 700E and am now finding it's taking up way too much space - it looked smaller in the store. What will I miss or gain with the 500E and 590E? I am stuck!
Thanks for this! If we are using the piecing stitch (1324 I think) do we still need to reduce presser foot pressure? And if so, to what? Thanks!
Could Bernina make a cover for the 700E that could fit over the Spool Holder? I have to take the Spool Holder off every time I finish embroidering to be able to use the provided cover.
That would be amazing!!!! 🤩
I would definitely buy the pattern from you if you create one.@@sewingwithcodyandpete8651
Does the B435 have a tripple stitch, if not, which stitch can you use please
How do you adjust the pressure on the SR. I’m unsure what the wheel is!
My auto matic needle threader on my Bernina is always problem
Cody, where did you get the fabric for your shirt?

I love my 57 foot.
Squee!! 🎉❤
