One of my favorite period pieces of all time; absolutely beautiful in every way! This movie expressed the very real issues of oppression in the most fortunate of woman...the issues at the least that carried on in society for thousands of years, that even now women are dealing with in a changed world through the cellular memory of women now even(and may not know why one has depression or where it stems from, at least in this life) Evolution can only catch up in time, but the events have only changed in technicalities/legalities bc the entitlement of man is very much still alive and honored to where it’s just more hidden like the love affairs and imperfections we don’t seem to look upon anymore as ‘taboo’ so much! I can relate to this story with all my heart and empathy. Visually stunning, and the writing expressed impeccable to the statements being made here. We’ll done, 👏🏼 Bravo!
One person said magic word this does take back time Prinesss Daina foot steps. I truly love see more movies. Like this in Theathers. Frantic movie and true story . Truly love see more and more this story from the past. It's are history. From past . I like if was book on this true story. I truly love BBC movies. Fun watch and learn from the past. Sad part she die. Actors 1000% A plus movie. Watch millions of times.
@orlandogirl213 exactly, and she found ways to cope. not good ways, bullimia, gambling and drugs. i think the historians were just saying that she wasnt perfect, she didnt have a perfect life and they were showing that she made the same mistakes common and famous people do now. she was better than some common druggie though, i agree with that
It was a very sad story. The duchess didn't have a choice with her husband and his mistress. Her home life was horrible, her mother was horrible, she was so alone, no wonder she went out partying and gambling and became political for woman's rights. What else was there for her. She was a victim of the bad side of the upper class mentality of men like her husband and woman like her mother. Nothing like the Bennett's from Pride and Predudice.
@orlandogirl213 you cant just refuse the believe it. solid facts, witness accounts, LETTERS. i quite honestly wish the story was different, but just because you dont like what she did doesnt mean it didnt happen. and its not just dummys like lohan that suffer from ALL of these things. i know people right now doing what georgiana did for less dramatic reasons, so i'm not surprised that she turned to drugs, drink, gambelling, ect..
@orlandogirl213 well yeah she did live 200-300 years ago. and pretty sure historians have seen letters and bills saying she was in debt as well a acounts from witnesses of here behavior. i think your elimitating what you dont want to know. she had a hard life, yeah she was bloody amazing. but she was doing what popstars do now, the fame and power was so much. it sucks that it happened, but i doubt historians would feed bullshit.

You need to get out more.
I've been to Chatsworth in October and it is AMAZING, the costumes of Keira Knightley were hanging in the house, so beautiful
The Duchess of Devonshire is a classic example of a person who was born in the wrong time period.
she makes me think of Princess Diana
same family, so you're not far off. they're closely related.
Georgiana and Diana are both In the Spencer Bloodline I believe Georgiana is Diana’s great Aunt.
@@hollyparkerrx you are correct :) she is her great-great-great-grand-aunt
Keira knightly really loves coming back to pemberley... Hahaha

actually I would not recommend the other boleyn girl...it is the most inaccurate portrayal of anne boleyn that exists
You can watch the film on bbciplayer now

Who is the actor who plays the man that toasts in the beginning? He plays a frenchman in Onegin I think.
StrongImaginationA Simon McBurney was also a fantastic government minister in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
Ancestry.com states I am the only DNA tested match to the Duchess of Devenshire, Christiana Bruce, who married a Stewart.

well your're quite blinded from reality
@erinanneglew but she DID do drugs
If she was such a 'celebrity', how come Jane Austen NEVER mentioned her even once in her hundreds of letters?
What Duchess was this one? I'm related to Christiana Bruce, according to my DNA tests.
She was Duchess of Devenshire, born 1639.
