I think alienating Sage(and not killing her) was the worst thing Homelander could do. Also I think Sage means the one person he can't defeat is himself, because he is a psycho nutball.

Everytime A-Train opened a door i was just expecting Homelander to be in the otherside. I don’t think he’s making it out this season alive as I’ve never read the comics. 🚆

I 💯 thought he was going to be klld off but now that he was able to escape WITH his familyl, maybe he has a chance to disappear like Maeve.
That would be so cliché if he dies after his redemption. I think a good writing would be him surviving and getting to be a hero.
Comics are super different for instance all the boys take a version of V to give them basic super strength. Like kimiko without the healing basically. Or during that deep scene with starlight in episode 1 it's homelander, noir, and atrain sexually assaulting her.
Funny that I used to want a Deep redemption arc but didn't really care about A-Train, but now it's swapped. Deep killing Ambrossius was the final nail in the coffin, fully cementing himself as a villain, while A-Train putting himself on the line to save Butcher and Starlight fully cements him as a hero

Internally he probably recognizes she's right even if he hates to admit it. She's his equal in intelligence as he is for pure physical power. Killing her would mean killing the best of his warped sense of utopia.
The shapeshifter supe was a callback to the shapeshifters in Supernatural - the skin peeling, the eyes switching and how they have memory from the person. It's like 100% the same.
Interesting… the use of a shapeshifter to upset a transition of power like this is similarly used in Star Trek DS9

It's both! Octopi and octopuses are both correct, as is octopodes. So just use whichever one you like the best.

Episode 1 took place on election night which is November. The entire season took place in two months

It's interesting this season took place over just a very short period of time. Season 4 seemed to take place in the span of a couple of weeks whereas in previous seasons it felt like months were the time frame.

Lets not forget. Sage is the "smartest person in the world", for all we know she positioned herself exactly to where she is now. Being fired allows her to walk away from the 7 ahead of the likely assassination of Dakota Bob and not face any possible backlash. Although i am starting to wonder if Bob is the actual target or if Sage's plan was to actually take out Victoria for whatever reason.(Homelander to step in as Vice President Elect?)
Either way Sage is likely going to let the Boys know about Homelander's milk fetish, Frenchie will connect the dots from what he found in Firecrackers trailer about her lactating drugs and then them deciding that's how they get the virus into Homelander.

I honestly think it was the octopus just acting and not so much a plot thing looked over. He had to sit there and listen for her the entire time, all though we didn't see all of it. A bit lazy writing though, I can't lie.

Technically if this counts as assault with the shapeshifter pretending to be someone then last episodes doesn’t count as assault since he was pretending to be someone else.
I get why they didn't kill the deep but i feel like annie should've been able to bash his head in if she kept going with that weight.
Yeah she was already making him bleed with punches, i don't know why mm was acting like they would have to "figure out how to kill him". Just have her bash him a few more times with the weight (or the crowbar or something if that's more efficient)
It might take 5 minutes to kill him , we dont know how resisting is his body, and police is a few minutes away, black noir is nearby. Its someone understandable

If Annie can punch hard enough to make Deep (another supe with the seemingly 90% base aspects of super strength and enhanced durability (also Firecracker while we're at it)) bleed like that, she has MORE than enough to kill him, especially with that weight. Noir threw himself out of the window, cops are a null factor in this show, and Deep is not... Invincible.

I have a feeling hughie keeping starlights suit is going to come back bite them back. A perfect plan to have the shapeshifter pretend to be starlight and kill the president. It makes sense since annie is MIA rn and they can make all starlighters the common enemy and put them in the camps like they have been planning to do, without any pushback from the public

Homelander seeing Ryan is not the same as him looking like him. And that butcher knows it thanks to Becca; He knew how to be better and the way his father has guided him... for Ryan to only have affection for him. It's simply out of fear! than not choosing to be better and talking about it. And not because he's an idiot who allows himself to resent his traumas and feelings. And that's what will really upset Homelander even more.

This episode took so much out of me mentally.
Last week it was physically because of the entirety of the dungeon scene.
But this week, with it being the episode before the finale I knew everything was going to be hectic.
There was so many times when I was like “yep, that’s gonna happen and that’s what we are gonna go into the finale on”.
I just knew the Deep or Noir was abt to die as soon as they showed up from whatever it is that Butch has.
I thought anytime A-Train opened a door, Homelander would be on the other said especially with Ashley.
I thought Ryan might go bad on tv.
AND Kimiko might die from the virus.
But thankfully everyone made it through.
The finale is gonna be RATHER INTENSE I believe.
That Webweaver kill feels like a future DLC Fatality for MK1 homelander.
Having us wait a whole week for this conclusion should constitute as cruel and unusual punishment LOL

Literally every time she gets hurt you guys freak out asking if she can heal from this and that and the answer is always yes. Like maybe if she got beheaded that might do it but if that doesn't work then she might be just as OP as Wolverine. Point is we've seen her go through so much already maybe you don't need to freak out every single time. Goddamn.

The Ambrosia scene was genuinely heart wrenching the first time watching but there's some dark humor in it for sure on rewatch

In that moment where Butcher passed out at the end, JDM reminded me of the hex tech thing punishing Victor in arcane. I don't think he's actually the "devil on butcher's shoulder" but the temp V growth presenting to butcher in a face he recognises.

I'd argue Sage's plan is still in effect. If she is as smart as we are meant to believe, she'd likely have already assumed the A-train thing would come to light, plus she's aware of how irrational Homelander is, I feel like she's still manipulating the situation.

@BlindWave Fun Fact: Antony Starr shared on a panel that Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir) may be borderline narcoleptic for real. He said that Nathan always dozes off in between takes out of the blue. I couldn't tell whether he was joking or being serious. They could've written into the story for fun.

Okay, things are looking good for A-Train. Almost too good so I'm still worried. He's fully redeemed himself, betrayed Homelander, became an actual hero, and got him and his family away. That's too good to be true but I'm proud of him 🙌 if he comes back, he's certainly dead though
Could it be Sage coming in at the end with Starlight? I doubt it, but I was thinking since we saw her with "the shooter" already this episode, she's the one that's been in contact with them. Sage getting the info where she is could be possible, and I assume she's gonna use Starlight to get back at Homelander now, or try to at least.
What's the music that plays at the end of these reactions? I remember it being used a lot in the first season or two of the show, but I don't know what it's called.
I honestly do not get where they are going with Sage. But i also think that that's probably the point. It might all still be part of Sage's plan altogether. But on the other hand, even she has been surprised by Homelander's unpredictability before, like when he lasered that girl in Ashley's office, so it might not. I'm really curious to where they are going with her.
And yes, to 30:20. It has been years since i saw Supernatural, but it immediately reminded me of the Shapeshifters in that, too. And i'm not sure, but i also think they had something similar to that "shutter"-effect with their eyes in Supernatural, too, didn't they? Or did their eyes have weird reflections in cameras? Something like that, but definitely something with the eyes. Of course, we also had other shapeshifting Supes in The Boys already, too.
Also, they are really taking the piss out of the whole MAGAsphere in this season. Love it.

My guess is that Sage opened the door at that last scene. She's the mastermind of all of this, so I won't be surprised if Neuman is working with her behind Homelanders' back. "The only way women like us have ever gotten what we deserve? One hand in our pockets while the other slits their fucking throats."
I have to think that Sage getting fired is also part of the plan, and that even that remark at the end, that's a ploy where saying that manipulates Homelander's insecurity.
The one person you cant defeat line when i first heard it, i thought she was talking about Butcher but with multiple viewings, I actually think she meant Ryan, Homelander's son.

You guys are forgetting that Starlight is a public figure, and that she publicly denounced Starlight and said she was going back to being Annie. So that was public info, not hard for the shapeshifter to use and play into it, considering how much practice they have had
i see everyone talking about sage meaning the only person homelander couldn’t defeat was himself but i genuinely thought she meant maeve. They showed the maeve journal for a reason and we know she’s still alive, powerless or not who knows.
