    Also let it be remembered that the all logitudinal seating of fishbowls and flxibles ended with the delivery of these and I think the 870s as well with their 2 and 1 transverse seats. The all transverse seating of the late '60s to 1978 helped kill off a lot of ridership. And the air-conditioning on the old buses broke after a few years. With the RTS fleet we started taking working A/C for granted. On the other hand, you had to run it most of the year as the damn windows were (at first sealed). And the original heavy, window tint - meant to ease the burden on A/C-made it IMPOSSIBLE to read the street signs at night.

    As a 24 year bus operator in Brooklyn i must compliment you on this video .also i can tell you that those re manufactured 7000s were the bomb!!! Also bus #1261 was re-manufactured and used as a prototype for the last RTS/nova buses with the new turbo exhaust recirculating engines found on the 8900-9000 series. that was a rocket.

    The RTS where one of Bus Models that MTA had gotten there hands on . They Out lasted Most of the replacement Buses such as the Orion 5 And Orion VII Hybrids and some of MCI 4500 Express. From 1981-2019. But for the private Bus lines in Queens NYC and Bee Line Bus They had gotten the RTS 03 I know the ones from the Green Line Bus 1001-1015 and I remeber the ones from Jamaica Bus 1-301-1-3010 witch later on was sent to Green Bus Line and Stineway I think had Bus 1 or 2 or Queens Transit ??? The RTS 03 had V-8s in them . Thats why had that loud Moing Sound !!!!and yes Black smoke also . But as the years went on all of RTS of NYC had came with upgrade and stuff. But I like them all NYTA and Private Lines . And thats a outstanding NYCTA /MaBSTOA 1981 GMC RTS T8W/T8J204 Review Champ 🏆🏆🏆🏆 and Besafe.

    Wow Kal El, the first RTS in Puerto Rico from AMA are T7W604 with 6v71 engine and Allison 730, 1980 and 1983 units, for example the 1980 is the RTS -04 prototype with 6v71, in 1980 this unit also available in 8v71 engine option, but less than 30 units. But, remember this New York buses, I love it.

    Yukon Depot has the X1 express buses that looks like the one being shown but they have express bus seats & I remember those back in 1994 if I'm not mistaken running on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.

    I'm gonna take a guess and say that most of these 2000 Series RTS BUSES went to the following: Gun Hill, 100 Street (Tuskegee Airmen) DEPOT, 126 Street Depot and Hudson Pier Depot. I even read online that the ones that weren't rebuilt went to Long Island Bus until retirement by 2000. Plus, online, it said 7038-7049 had coach seats for Express Service out of the Ulmer Park Depot. Is all that true?

    • @kamarwaugh2861
      @kamarwaugh2861 7 лет назад +2

      Only 9 1981 rts buses were sent to long island bus and then were pull out of service in 2000.
