I think the number one mistake I do as tank is to not look around me. There’s been times where my back line gets jumped yet I’m so focused on what’s in front of me I don’t notice it
I say that’s ok, If you honestly… No! you have to trust your team As much as they trust you as long as you mitigate damage in front of you Your teammates should kill then quickly… Just my opinion!
@@nightmarionetteprimordial3580 yeah but there will be times where let’s say they got dove by a tracer or a sombra or just heroes who just harass your supports you gotta turn around to help them because you have high health they don’t. Bruh I hate when the enemy team jumps a teammate of yours, but your team doesnt do the same to the enemy. Especially when you are the one getting jumped even as a tank like c'mon. But the main thing I hate now is when the healer is focusing more on damage than actual healing like bruh.
As a tank I think it also helps playing to your strengths hero wise. Sure Zarya might be meta right now but I'm absolutely shit at her but I know how to play rein and roadhog well. I'm going to be a lot better for my team if I use them over the meta. Obviously try and learn the others in QP so you can play to the meta later on but play heroes you know first
I'm the same. I don't feel connected to my team whenever I play DPS. I'll still play for fun, but at this point, I think I'll enjoy the tanks and support that require good gun play
It’s a death-knell when the tank is afraid to push through a chokepoint, which ends up in a prolonged fight there. I’d say: feel welcome to go behind enemy lines to scatter them, make their healers have to relocate, put up a shield that distracts the DPS from the chokepoint. Everything to get your team into the few meters beyond the chokepoint. Defending a chokepoint through kills is just too easy, but not getting pushed back is way harder

I played on paraiso last night and watched a dps sit on top of the highway, first choke point. It happened the round before that they instantly died, so I told them to fall back behind me (I was holding the 2nd choke point, seeing all the possible routes they could come). They weren't listening and so over the comms I told them "you're about to get dove by the Dva, you're going to die, then Dva will flank and the rest of the team will collapse on us. I’d also love a VOD review if your doing them still I play 90% tank all the time my friends relie on me a bunch so getting insight into my games would help
I actually cant focus on everything at once. I can keep enemies on a distance, but not 6 people at once, especially a reaper that dives the backline. I do look around sometimes, but I can't keep my eyes off the front either as they will just straight up kill me in the meantime. I can zarya bubble the backline but usually it happens too fast to be able to help.
Resident console player bronze doomfist main D.V.A. flex here. Man I wish I could I get a vod review from this guy. This is a submission if you’re looking.
Very useful guide. I played a little of OW1 but never got into competitive like I am starting to in OW2. Would love for you to review my DPS or support gameplay. Expecting to land in silver or gold and would appreciate some feedback on how to play better 🙏
Is weird cause I already feel I’m taking all of this into consideration, but is weirdly hard to play tank for me like I’m in play with dps easily , but with tank I’m stuck in silver , with dps u just go and kill the whole team and feel like with tanks is so hard to do
"You can occupy a space that is being contested by the enemy and you wont instantly die." Yeah about that, I do. In fact, so does the winston in the footage behind the text right after you say it lol.
As a tank main on console, it's literal hell. Nobody knows how to operate as a team when you do your job and then you get rolled and everyone yells at you 🙄
coach mills, im so incredibly hard stuck in platinum as a tank main - i prefer dive tanks I've played over 130 games and simply cannot climb, please save me!
I can only play doomfist cause I'm mentally ill. People tell me to switch before the match starts because they think I'm a trash throw, sure playing orisa is probably the best choice, buy I'm better at doom. I have a 65% win ratio this season in rank with him so I'm climing steadly but I'm getting stuck in plat and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. This has helped me realise a few things. Tho it probably won't matter... be ause I play doom
The last one simply isn’t possible the player base of this game is so toxic and it’s very rare to have your whole team on gamechat but the rest of the advise is goated
so this whole time the team was saying hello to see what strategy i wanna do... not bc they were just saying hi.... that's so funny actually i love being new to a game like this
Ad a tank I just cba because when I dive with Winston kill a support and a dps jump back to my team I get no heals even tho I’m stood next to my moira or mercy attacking them I mean seriously I just can’t get out of the lower ranks even though I carry hard af
I recently picked up ow2 when it became free and I have like 20+ hours on tank already. I would love a vod review on my gameplay so that I can improve and maybe rank up a little.
yoooo a vod review would be perfect! I have just the game in mind. It's a zarya game, still oretty new to OW so i think it would be great to help show what could be done better or changed
i just started playing overwtach got silver ranked as tank thought it was kinda low but people tell me you just get ranked lower at start(?) anyways with the cope out of the way i rly cannot think of anything i can do at my current skill level to win more matches than i lose, im doing all that but communications is zero with other players. Idk why im always overpeforming or at the same level of the enemy tank and still i lose way more matches than i win. honestly i'll try to rank once more and give up because its just super frustating doing more damage and kills every match when im not even supposed to be the one doing that.
I would love a VOD review! Typically a tank main but I haven't played since whatever season Baptiste was put in. I think this match honestly displays a lot of what you were talking about here to include some of the bad 🤣! However as much as I can work on my positioning I think this was a great game for aggressiveness and trying to focus on the other teams squishys. I'm loving getting back into the game though. I was previously hard stuck plat in ranked. Unranked so far but I have been watching your videos to get caught up in the game! This was honestly kind of a fun game though and a bit of a roll. Code: CSZPRP for the OW saved VOD in game
In settings you go to advanced in the settings options and create a custom one it took me about 2 min to find and set it up just read and take your time playing around with the settings and how it looks I suggest going to the practice range and customize it from there so that it's easier to do because you can instantly see and use it with the characters so it's more practical than doing it from the menu go to a game and figure out if it ain't what you wanted to use
Hey Coach Mills thanks for the video I am a tank player I mainly play rein, sig and zar, I just went to my first lan tourney and got my ass handed too by gms and top 500s as plat It would be great to have someone coach my tanking to see what mistakes I am doing it would be so helpful I really want to improve
Yea and playing with passive teammates that want to 1 v 5 and not break LOS to reposition makes Tanking so much easier, dps who flank and get jumped, tunnel vision is serious, hard to find competent teammates
I got a game where I primarily used Roadhog. It was a hybrid game on Paraiso. My team got Atk side first and my DPS were Sojourn and Widow/Hanzo. Honestly, this is my first time wanting someone to review my game so bad cause my team kept saying I need to switch off Roadhog and go shield when I was securing support kills left and right. And I know that seems like a biased opinion because I'm talking about my own play, but I'm curious, did I do my job correctly as a tank in this game? If I were to switch to a shield tank, would it win us the game? I'd love to get feedback on it!
The only tank I can't figure out is Winston. He just feels wrong to play. I've even used doomfist and he is ok as an off tank but Winston just seems very situational. Dva is busted zarya is fun, Reinhardt is mean af on some maps, Orisen is all around solid. And road hog is not only good but preferably when your team refuses to play anything but dps
Bro from this guide the tank is supposed to do everything lmao. You said to take and hold space but also contest high ground and peel. The way this really works is the sec you go contest the high ground the rest of your team dies fighting 4v4 without a unkillable tank while you take a 1v1 with Ashe. You got some good tips but you asking way too much of tank players. Especially new ones. I feel like this thought process is why most dps now think it's the tanks job to contest the Pharah, peel for every support fight, hold/push cart and get top damage every game.
Would love it if you reviewed one of my VODs. Trying to climb out of Bronze. 🥲 A tip I have after playing a lot of Junker Queen is that is a JQ player is to be a little more reserved. Don't yolo in and start swinging that Axe. Play around corners and wait for the enemy to come to you then knife them. Also learning to 180 Axeswing to nail a Genji trying to dodge it is a great tip. You can spin mid animation and hit the enemy as they try and move out of your way.
As a Winston main, I get zero usage out of his left trigger charged shot. I switch that to quick melee and swing it around a lot. I find it really helps in the snowballing parts
You aren't a Winston main you're an autist who can't reach his low skill ceiling. His basic combo is poking with rail gun and diving them to clean up. You're wasting your team's time jumping around with half his kit untouched, hilarious
the only thing i am not doing is comming bcs it is a desaster down there if u say something wrong u can leave the game bcs nobody is carring about u anymore no heal no nothing

These are all great tips! I still suck though.
Coach_Mills, thank you so much for this Information. For me (a beginner) it is so helpful when somebody like you explain the game sense like that. Go on for more videos, i will watch them and sure leave a like there.
Literally just got bitched at by a entitled Anna player telling me to push even tho when I do push my team doesn’t push with me leaving me as a easy kill
She was literally in front of me and died like no funny thing was she was masters rank must have been carried to that rank lmao
Just playing ow for first time here in ow2. Love tanking and learning has been great! Would love a tank vod review 🙏
Is weird cause I already feel I’m taking all of this into consideration, but is weirdly hard to play tank for me like I’m in play with dps easily , but with tank I’m stuck in silver , with dps u just go and kill the whole team and feel like with tanks is so hard to do
I agree communication is important on tank but it is so draining when you put that effort in only for it to not be acknowledged
I hate when my whole team rushes forward and i have to sit on the payload as the tank
"You can occupy a space that is being contested by the enemy and you wont instantly die."
Yeah about that, I do. In fact, so does the winston in the footage behind the text right after you say it lol.
LMAO THE TBAG AT 3:05
Tank players need to realize that just bc they can engage doesn’t mean they should
As a tank main on console, it's literal hell. Nobody knows how to operate as a team when you do your job and then you get rolled and everyone yells at you 🙄
the fearful "S" tanks that hold S more than W ... instantly lose games .
coach mills, im so incredibly hard stuck in platinum as a tank main - i prefer dive tanks I've played over 130 games and simply cannot climb, please save me!
Him talking about what to do after a teamfight and i cant even get my team to group up after the first fight of a round
I cant be the only person mad that he’s talking about how to get better but isn’t showing us background competitive gameplay
A vod review would be really helpful for tank but also dips if you do that in the future
used to be a pure dps main, now i'm trying to play more tank. Don't really know what i should do or not
i just started playing overwtach got silver ranked as tank thought it was kinda low but people tell me you just get ranked lower at start(?) anyways with the cope out of the way i rly cannot think of anything i can do at my current skill level to win more matches than i lose, im doing all that but communications is zero with other players.
How do you get that small cross hair reticle? I can’t find it in settings
Would love a tank vod review
Bro a review would be the best i suck at tanking yet love tanking
Last night I had 30k+ damage blocked and 19k+ dmg done and still took an L because a Brig that did 3k+ healing…I thought the ranking was better??
Comming is good, wow I wish literally anyone in diamond knew that
Is that Konomi Suzuki - Realise flute ed. at 5:00 ?
Yea and playing with passive teammates that want to 1 v 5 and not break LOS to reposition makes Tanking so much easier, dps who flank and get jumped, tunnel vision is serious, hard to find competent teammates
My secret tip is have dps that can shoot and actually do damage not dps that do 3 min flanks with 0 damage
Even after this video I’m stuck
I feel like this thought process is why most dps now think it's the tanks job to contest the Pharah, peel for every support fight, hold/push cart and get top damage every game.
coach goat ❤
Im not a bad tank but the enemies pick hog reaper and i insta lose because im a Winston main xd
he dont miss 🚶♂️
My problem is my team won’t push up with me after I create the space as rein and my shield goes down in 5 seconds then I die and get yelled at 😂
I am brand new to the game and only played tank a handful of times, if you want a beginners VOD, I’m your guy lmao
When I'm a tank I like to do stuff
I climbed from silver to platinum 5 only playing sig and ball
Ranks are cooked at the moment. So many bad players in plat that should be in silver.
Yo the start of the vod the other rein was way better, zero counter charges done lol
Is it still better to hog hook to secondary fire + Melee or should the shot be primary fire ?
Secret tip: always blame the support
Okay, okay....I hit Subscribe😂🤜🤛
Dude I love roadhog and orisa but damn sometimes you just need a rein
Would love it if you reviewed one of my VODs. Trying to climb out of Bronze. 🥲
A tip I have after playing a lot of Junker Queen is that is a JQ player is to be a little more reserved.
I find it really helps in the snowballing parts
use it for poking, charge shot then dive so they have less health
You aren't a Winston main you're an autist who can't reach his low skill ceiling. His basic combo is poking with rail gun and diving them to clean up. You're wasting your team's time jumping around with half his kit untouched, hilarious
Tank shouldn't be the shot caller, supports should
If you're not top of board with kiild and mit you're throwing
the only thing i am not doing is comming bcs it is a desaster down there if u say something wrong u can leave the game bcs nobody is carring about u anymore no heal no nothing
Man I need your crosshair settings!
Please rate my gameplay. First time overwatch player. Would like to know where I stand lol
2% oh my god I'm not joining that the statistics are crazzyyyy 🤣🤣🤣
are u gold?
Great vid. Wouldn't mind my gameplay be reviewed as well.
Curently plat 2, but hope to reach atleast mid diamond. Uses to be mt in ow1 where also sat arnond 2700 with higest at 3200 sth, but that was quite a bit ago when played way more. I think 3-3 meta was the thing back then. But yeah nive video again.
Zarya needs a nerf, change my mind
Hit grandmaster, now im gonna quit until zarya is balanced, trash game
"I need help", "Group Up", and "Fall Back" are not funny jokes they added to the com wheel, when you see and hear them, am I notifying you of what to do, what I am about to do, or what you need to do to not die.
6:30 but what about my wrecking ball ;(
Bro i cant do anything with tank they countering every tank. I took ramattra then they took zarya and reaper with pocket bastion and ana. Wtf can i do?! They change the heros if i change it. Its so boooring
Why I would watch a video where the youtuber tells me i suck at something. no thanks.
thnks for the info i would love for you to go over some gameplay of mine my mechanics are trash but i need to get gme sense down first
