Michael Jackson wrote and produced this song for his big sister Rebbie. The production is 🔥 !
He's definitely singing, You can hear him clearly on that "Centipede" line 🔥
Loved this when it first came out... but Rebbie had the decency to say a lot of the vocals wasn't her, it was Martha Wash of the Weather Girls, so she openly admitted she mimed a lot of the parts of this record to Martha's vocals... other people like Black Box never bothered crediting Martha for her voice, but Rebbie gave Martha full credit which speaks volumes of this lovely ladies integrity :-) Thank you JJ for another great reaction. Big love to you from the UK. x
The Jackson’s are really beyond talented
Huge hit from 1984. 84 was like the year of the Jacksons lol!!!! Written and Produced by MJ like everyone else has said. Super Funky beat had almost everybody dancin' back then. Rebbie Jackson is the eldest Jackson sibling, she did a great job on this choon!! Great reaction J!!
1984 was an exciting year for music. You are right, the Jackson's were everywhere. I even remember that summer there was a Michael Jackson/Mick Jagger song "State of Shock".
@@StatisticsJason I agree 💯 percent Man!!! Great music across all genres!!!
Her brother Michael was all over this production, as well as background vocals also Martha Wash on extended belts towards the climax of the song...pretty well put together.
Written and Produced by Michael Jackson 🔥
That is MJ in the background
Exactly 🔥🙌🏾 Fun fact it was suppose to been on Thriller album he have his own demo but it’s in the vault. But He gave it to Rebbie and she did a damn good job on it.

Brother Michael Jackson did a excellent job on this classic
The song was written and produced by Jackson's younger brother Michael Jackson. He and The Weather Girls also sang backing vocals on the song.
This has always been one of my favorites. In addition to Michael Jackson writing and producing this title track for his sister Rebbie's debut album, he sang background on it, along with The Weather Girls.
Rebbie was actually the first born of the Jackson's. She's 71 years old as of 2021. The additional vocals are from her little bro Michael Jackson.
and of course, Martha Wash killing those ad-libs!
@@voxandlocks Absolutely! Martha Wash on ad-libs towards the end. Was she in "The Weather Girls" Chip?
@@smittybenzo4693 Yep. She Was half of Two Tons of Fun which became The Weather Girls when they changed record labels.
@@voxandlocks Ok confirmed. Thanks Chip
Rebbie really had the best voice out of the Jackson sisters but her career stalled this was actually a hit back in the 80’s👍🏾
She was also the prettiest, in my opinion.
Agreed on both count
@@slappyslapstick4045 definitely
Her career really didn't stall. She stop performing to have a family with her husband.
@@slappyslapstick4045 She has the beautiful, mature look of Janet , with a mixture of Randy....Back in those younger Jackson days; Latoya was the prettiest in my opinion. Because she looked like a light skinned , young version of Beautiful Mrs Katherine Jackson. .
Rebbie, the oldest, married young and didn’t move with the family to California when The Jackson 5 career took off. She met her future husband when they were 11 and they stayed together until he passed away in 2013.
The background vocals are Michael. I bought this album when it came out, in 1984. All of the Jacksons had music out in '84.
U right the jacksons Janet jermaine rebbie and la toya all in the same year no family of artists can match them
She definitely did her thing & at her age she still has it go #Rebbie & the first time I listened to her song I never stop listening even today
Martha Wash sang the solo part near the end. I totally enjoy Rebbie’s vocals on this too.
That is Martha Wash and the Weather Girls singing background. That growly voice is Martha Wash.
That growl part was Martha Wash?! I thought that was Rebbie wow!
FIIIIIIINNNNNNNAAAAALLLLLLYYYY!!!!
💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Love her voice. THE eldest of THE siblings. The responsible one, and to me, the most naturally talented sister. Love your reaction.💯
💯 agree
Janet Jackson is talented too
All these years and I never knew MJ produced and wrote this as well as sang background vocals along with the Weather Girls!
them Jacksons weren't playing in the 80s whole decade
Growing up in the 80s as a kid for me ''1984'' was 1 of my favorite years that always stood out And i have so many vivid childhood memories behind so many great songs that came out that year And this is 1 of my favorites By Rebbie Jackson. Another song that was hot that same year by The Jacksons was Torture... If you haven't already done a reaction on it yet Check it out its great too.😎
Ya Boy The Great Legend Iconic Micheal Jackson Wrote and Produced This For His Big Sis Rebbie Straight To Number 4 On The R&B Charts And Yes That's Micheal Jackson & The Weather Girls singing Background vocals
This song was one of my faves from the 80s. She didn't have the exposure that her brothers and sisters did, but she did get some other hits. Off her second CD, "Reaction", the title song ("Reaction") got to #16 on the R&B Charts. Her 3rd CD was called "R U Tuff Enuff", and a song from that CD, called "Plaything" got to #8 on the R&B charts. You should check those two singles out.
You’re talking about the t.v. movie, American Dream. Rebe is the 1st born of all the Jacksons. She’s 71 now, a year older than Jackie. Definitely Michael in on the hook. Hearing this again now, I’m realizing of the 3 sisters, Rebe’s voice is easily the most powerful. She really digs in with another kind of grit & substance to her voice. LaToya had a song, I think was called, Heart Don’t Lie. If you hear you’ll see the difference.
SHe came out last time in 1998 with a song and music video called Yours Faithfully and she was on Michales label. Really nice song
Hey Just Jammin, I was the only one in my circle back in the day who grooved to some Rebbie Jackson. I like Centipede, the song that really turned me on though was Reaction on her next album Ticket To Love. Reaction and Ticket to Love are my favorites on her second album which was Ticket To Love. Her third album, Are You Tough Enough, was even better. Perfect Combination, Read Between The Lines, Are You Tough Enough, and This Love Is Forever are my favorites on that album. The last album I know of that she did was Yours Faithfully. She should’ve done some more music after that. It shows me how stupid the music business is for not getting behind her talent. The ones that really showed me how stupid the music business was though, was Starpoint. Renee Diggs, the lead singer in that group had a beautiful voice for days, they did 10 albums, and nobody really promoted them. Much love.
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆Do Your Thing Rebbie Sing It
Most slept on song EVER.
some people used to say she's the forgotten Jackson - the same way they make fun of tito
This one hit wonder was the jam!!!
You're hearing Michael and Izora Rhodes and Martha Wash (The Weather Girls) on Vocals. Martha Wash is the lead voice towards the end with the high notes that Rebbie is lip syncing to.
Rebbie was a beautiful woman and she could actually sing
The whole vibe of this video reminds me of that one scene of Vanity performing at her club in 'The Last Dragon'.
I forgot how good this song was!!
The big voice in the back is Martha wash.
Her one and only hit
That's Rebbie all Rebbie ❤🔥❤
Oh yeah! I remember this when this came out! She is a beauty. It was her all along.....
Michael, Martha Walsh and Rebbie did the background
This was big in my High School Years ..also check out "You Send the Rain Away" by her ( Nice slow duet) .
A one hit wonder but one the best ones ever made.
I think we used to do “the smurf” to this song...definitely “the freak”😉
Damn the Smurf I forgot all that dance and yes we definitely were 👍🏾
The strong vocals you here.. Are from Martha Wash Another Slept on singer with a strong voice. Michael asked Martha to join in on vocals with him and His Sister. Great song.
Classic Funk
What up with that video haha The hook is catchy af though! The intro to your channel is tight JJ, my fave!
Childhood jam right here! And I didn’t catch the focus on a cobra in a song about a centipede 😂
Not to mention the tiger!! 😂 🤣
Awesome reaction, awesome memories and remembered when it was first released. Back then I couldn't believe it was MJ sister, I thought he only had 2. Don't sleep on the oldest one is the moral of this story.
Michael wrote and produced this cut. He and the Weather Girls sang back ground so those are other voices you hear.
Check out the updated version of Fly Away MJ did with Rebbie.
Nice 80s jam....of the sisters Rebbie had the best voice and a powerful voice at that just listen to her other music....she just never really wanted to be in the spotlight and singing was just a hobby for her.....Janet is already a SUPERSTAR but imagine if Janet had Rebbies vocal range how much bigger she would be.....great reaction
Always wanting something. My personal favorite by Rebbie Jackson
okay....just like all the other 70's babies/80's kids, I've seen this video so many times I practically have it embedded on my brain. WHY am I just now asking THIS: WHERE IS THE CENTIPEDE? WHY is there a COBRA in this video (in a song about "centipedes")?!? That's hilarious....lol
I’m a little high, but I enjoyed this video way too much. LOL Centipede is a great one hit wonder track and the video is so epic and so 80s🔥🔥🔥
Dude! It’s Michael Jackson and The Weather Girls. Martha Wash and Izora Rhoades are singing the belt on the bridge. You gotta check out The Weather Girls, formerly Two Tons Of Fun. They backed up or fronted for many artists. They got their start with Sylvester.
May have been mentioned but I believe I've heard Stevie Wonder performed the harmonica break?
I enjoyed this video.I also enjoyed it back when it was first released. Thanks for sharing. 😀
The weather girls also sung back up but yes rebbie can sing her but off the eldest jackson
Wow. Catching up on some reactions I missed. I don’t think I’ve heard this before. It’s a fun jam. But singing about a centipede is crazy as the 🐍
Michael wrote this song for her and sang the background vocals.
I remember this song/video💫 interesting listening to it today
Your expression in the thumbnail!😂😂😂😂
Yes, Michael is in the back
a cute one-hit wonder. got everybody on the dance floor when it hit
MICHAEL JACKSON WRITTEN THIS ONE FOR HER
Rebbie is the oldest out the jacksons
Hi Just Jammin, have you ever heard Janet Jackson’s song Skin Game? If not, it would be interesting to get your reaction to it. It’s one of her lesser known songs - though it happens to be my personal favorite of all of her songs. Johnny Gill lends his voice to the song as well. Keep on jammin!
Correction, the album with Ticket To Love on it is called Reaction.
anyone in MJs immediate vicinity got a record deal back then
Back then I thought this song was about the arcade game "Centipede" 🤓
Michael Jackson wrote and produced Centipede
That's pretty insane.
She only recorded one album too my knowledge, and released two singles
Okay JJ, U finally heard Centipede, love your surprised reaction on this one, even Latoya has one good joint! Great request @Music Man! Peace!
👍🏾 Thanx Kev! Latoya definitely had some nice Jamz as well!
@@musicman9914 MM yes finally JJ got around to rebbie...lol ❤❤❤❤ Upmost signature song of hers still jam until this day. Personally she has better singing voice than her janet and she is my girl too bad rebbie career was long term.
@@wakeupstopsleeping6300 I agree Wake. Rebbie has a way better voice than Janet. Not saying Janet's is not good. But Janet had the luck of teaming up with Jam and Lewis. ❤
@@musicman9914 👍🏽
@@musicman9914 i love janet music i have her stuff been to her concert. She puts on a good show terry & jimmy definitely put her where she needed to be
👏🏾🎶👏🏾
Michael jackson wrote this...
So I've heard.
Written and produced by MJ
🎶🎶🎶💯💯💯
I Think Michael is singing in the background JJ
Ah cool!
I'm probably the only one but I actually like this better than any Janet Jackson song. Edit: OK I'm reading the comments and it looks like I'm not the only one who has this opinion.
Overdubs
Michael Jackson always said that his biggest competition in his family would have been his sister Rebbie
When did he say that? Lmao.
Some think she's a one hit wonder but she had 2 other hits
Michael did not see Janet as his biggest competition, or Jermaine: it was Rebbie he was worried about... I really wish that her career lasted longer than it did....
None of them really were threats to his career.
@@themajicman745, absolutely!! We could all see that even as a child, he was IT. There was really never a time when MJ was NOT a star. By the time "Centipede" was released, MJ had already released "Off The Wall" "Thriller" as a solo artist. . .Yeah, there WAS no competition!!
Yall really just be making shit up 💀💀💀
@@lb8471 exactly
@@urmom777 Frfr they do be making up shit in there head lol MJ always was "IT!" & "THEE STAR"🙇🏽♂️👑✨💯
Forgot how good this song was. Video is silly.
I always thought this song was cool, it’s the only song of hers I know though🤷🏾♀️
She never impressed me vocally, but the song itself was ok
IMO Janet doesn’t sing in her “true” voice...she keeps it light “for the pop charts” even her funkier tunes like What have you done for me lately and Nasty.
I can’t believe people are hyping this song up. I was overseas when this came out in the States. It sucked then and it still sucks. 😂😂😂
This is alot worse than I remembered
