The problem with nebula is that it is on android. You need very very low latency kernel support for last minute projection of the frame. It's why gear vr is specific for the samsung, and allowing any 3rd party apps is a potential security hole because they need elevated privileges. So the beam is just an android device where the main applications probably have full privileges to update the frame buffer in time.
Thanks for the comment. This makes sense. Here's hoping that we can see some OEM integration with these companies (if I understood your comment correctly)... though something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath.
Hey man, the 120w charger I bought charges the beam in about 40 mins from flat, as well as simultaneously charging the RoG ally. But man the beam really should be included in the package. It's ends up quite expensive. And without it your missing features. Pinning the image is a must for me.
Thanks so much for your detailed comment. That's gret about the charger, and I absolutely agree with you about it being in the package... it definitely stings that it's not included!
the glasses do have the gyros for tracking. But your regular phone etc don’t do anything with it - netflix on your phone is just displaying on your phone. The beam is doing the ‘receiving the gyro info’ and then adjusting the incoming picture from your phone to match the tracking. Steam deck has a plugin to do this already so I’m going to experiment with that before considering the beam pro for media apps
Thank you so much for making this video. I knew I won't need the Beam!! But what I really appreciate in this video is that you addressed the real size that the user will actually see once worn! Because the marketing materials are just too good to be true and the numbers, when the actual glass where the micro OLED projects at is not that big at all. I mean 330" at 6 meters. If you really think about it and visualize it in real life, it's actually pretty small. I'm guessing maxing out the size of a screen when worn without the Beam is just like having a 24" monitor 1-foot away from your face. Maybe even less than 24"? Anyway! Great video, sir! 👏
Thanks so much for your kind words of support! Indeed the marketing have done some real... let's call it "spinning". The only way AFAIK right now to get a "REAL" image that would look like a 330" display is to have a significantly larger FOV (maybe like 100" ) on something like a VR headset. Would you be able to see the whole image at one time in both eyes? Maybe, maybe not, but how it looks to you will be different without question, because it's not a box or keyhole you're looking through. So in terms of maxing out the screen, it's almost entirely dependent in my experience on what is "around you". As in, what is in your peripheral vision. If you put on those lens covers and then cover the sides of your face, it probably will look something like a 24" monitor. But if you stare at wall across the room, yeah maybe then it WILL look like 330"... definitely some kind of brain sorcery. Thanks again for your kind words!

sideview feels like something the air should do onboard like many monitors allow PiP. Assuming my phone will do most of this so a beam or beam pro is mianly for the tracking part - how useful do you think it is to have the screen locked eg against a wall but letting you move your head? I’m used to that in VR but its a decent chunk of change just for tracking.
@@gamers-generation I bought a beam pro during the amazon sale to try out. Its amazing so far. The tracking makes a huge difference - you can have a big screen and no eye strain looking around the edges as your head naturally moves. I love the glasses they are just top notch and worth every penny. Unfortunately, as far as the Xbeam there is NO support for DRM which does not allow you to stream pretty much anything. This thing is pretty useless. I strongly believe that they rushed the product out without strong software support. Just my opinion.

Well, at least the glasses just dropped $40 to $340. I don't think the air 2 is much of an upgrade, so I might just keep trying to rack up those Amazon points so I feel like I'm paying half the price😅 and maybe the price will keep dropping. I think last week they had a $20 coupon on them at Amazon. Do you feel like the adjustable arms are helpful? Do you ever feel uncomfortable wearing them? I know that's pretty subjective, but curious.
Thanks so much for your comments! As far as I know, you're right. There isn't a ton of information available right now, but it does seem like there are "minor upgrades". The most I could find was that it's a smaller projector/display which reduces the weight and power consumption, but then that not-so-great part is that it seemingly reduces display size? Not entirely sure but I will follow up on this. As for the price drop, that's always good to see! And in terms of the adjustable arms... I don't think so personally, but if you feel like you often have to readjust hats/glasses on your head, maybe those could be useful. I guess that's also the biggest benefit of Amazon, easy returns usually. Thanks again for the comment.

It's possible that it needs something like a 25w-30w charger and/or that the charge speed was changed in a firmware update since this video was published. That's good to know though, thanks for the comment and update!
Hi thanks for the comment. Imagine a big rectangle in front of you, that's basically what it looks like. You can get a "better" idea of the view in the other videos I've published already including the Viture XR glasses review (they all use the same type of technology). Please do ask again if that was poorly explained.
Sorry for the late reply. Just to clarify, do you mean like artifacting? Or do you mean the display in the glasses literally moving away from where they're supposed to? For the former, there was some jitter in a previous version but it seems to mostly be fixed. As for the latter, I haven't really noticed any "drifting" per se, unless you use body anchor and then move very quickly in different directions (like in a moving vehicle); in that scenario though I'd just use sideview or smooth follow. Thanks for your question!
@@gamers-generation it would work exactly the same way it works with the XREAL glasses, and same reason too. Currently, the only way to play console/PC games on the MQ3 is via streaming, or a very inconvenient work-around to get an HDMI connection via a third party android application. The Beam would make it so much easier to connect HDMI sources directly to the Meta Quest 3, and likely with the least latency.
Hi thanks for the comment! That's correct. It's like if you are watching a movie through a window, the only part you'll be able to see is what's "in the window" if that makes sense. If you are several feet away from a wall (let's say more than 10ft) then it might look the same as a 330" display, but it's not really going to look dramatically different from being say 5-10 feet away and then having it set to 120", at least not to me.
Short answer... Sort of? With beam you can "fix" or leave the screen in a certain place in your room but because of the limited FOV (what you can see in the glasses), if you're not looking almost directly at it, it'll show up as "cut off". If you have a compatible phone (like a newer iPhone or Galaxy S23/24 Ultra) you can place multiple windows around you but again still be limited by what the displays actually show. Hope this helps, thanks for the comment!
@@Motawa88 With Beam itself connected to the Xreal glasses, you can have it "follow" you or "pin" to a certain location in space. If you're using the Nebula app it's a little different and you can use the phone kind of like a remote control to aim in different areas.

Remember my thing is gaming so I thought I was gonna take some advantage of it, the glasses for me was 450 plus tax almost 500 then I bought the beam for 120 plus tax it came up to 130 plus the cable they have that it turns from a HDMI cable to a type C, so really everything came up to about 650. I'm returning everything and getting the Meta quest 3 VR for 500 and I believe I'm gonna take more advantage of that then the glasses
Thanks for your detailed comment. Having a sound exit plan (return policy) is a good idea. Especially when it comes to the cost of these things... how do you like your Q3?
I just got it yesterday and I charge it with my Samsung galaxy s23 charger and was able to charge it in about 1 hour and 30min. I heard about the charging time that it takes long and most chargers don't work well I don't know how it happen but that was my case 😊
It's possible that it needs something like a 25w-30w charger and/or that the charge speed was changed in a firmware update since this video was published. That's good to know though, thanks for the comment and update!
@gamers-generation what is the default view without the beam? like are the virtual monitors fixed...
Hi thanks for the comment. Imagine a big rectangle in front of you, that's basically what it looks like. You can get a "better" idea of the view in the other videos I've published already including the Viture XR glasses review (they all use the same type of technology). Please do ask again if that was poorly explained.
Excellent review, thanks!!
Thank you for your kind words!
Have you experienced any drifting issues.
@@gamers-generation screen moves to the side randomly. Sometimes stops after unplugged or settles after ten minute.
I wonder if you can use this with the meta quest 3 🤔
I'm curious how that would work... and why? Thanks for your comment!
Does that mean I can't see the whole 330 inch display? Only a fraction of it?
Hi thanks for the comment! That's correct. It's like if you are watching a movie through a window, the only part you'll be able to see is what's "in the window" if that makes sense. If you are several feet away from a wall (let's say more than 10ft) then it might look the same as a 330" display, but it's not really going to look dramatically different from being say 5-10 feet away and then having it set to 120", at least not to me.
Thank you :) @@gamers-generation
can you place windows freey in your room?
Short answer... Sort of? With beam you can "fix" or leave the screen in a certain place in your room but because of the limited FOV (what you can see in the glasses), if you're not looking almost directly at it, it'll show up as "cut off". If you have a compatible phone (like a newer iPhone or Galaxy S23/24 Ultra) you can place multiple windows around you but again still be limited by what the displays actually show. Hope this helps, thanks for the comment!
@@gamers-generation did you try the quest 3? Kinda in between the two
@@gamers-generation how you put the window in a room? With the beam button?
@@Motawa88 I have the Q3 review on my channel and just posted an accessories video too, please check it out!
@@Motawa88 With Beam itself connected to the Xreal glasses, you can have it "follow" you or "pin" to a certain location in space. If you're using the Nebula app it's a little different and you can use the phone kind of like a remote control to aim in different areas.
Is there any major update on beam? DRM support?
Thanks for your question! There was an update about two months ago that added in some android app capabilities, though it was all in Chinese. I haven't tested it again but will do so in a follow up review. Please stay tuned!

Will this work witn iphone with lightning?
It should, though you'll likely need an adapter as this doesn't have a lightning port on it.
@@gamers-generation is it worth it?
How can i download nebula app being outside of the states?
It's not in your country's Google Play Store?
Great content bruh!
Thanks Jack!
Thank you for sharing this video!
Thank you my guy!
Is this must have?
Sorry for the late reply. I feel like it kind of is for the beam, but also.. if you don't about the pinning option or having a mobile android TV, maybe it's not worth it. What's your use case?
thanks, nice video!
Thanks for the juicin' fam!
Would it work with a Z Flip4?
It can I believe (as long as it has display port alt mode) but there's no DeX as far as I know on the flip series.
it is 33000" if you compare with that big screen miles away
Yo do you work for Xreal? I feel like you could work for Xreal.
@@gamers-generation I really want to work for them. I ordered the air 2 pro, but as I read its nebula beta for win is buggy and flickering etc. I want to fix it as I am a sw developer looking for job...
It is not open source unfortunately :(
Nebula app not working in India
Hmm... any idea why? Is it blocked in your country?
Heats good for the winter lol
You know what... I didn't think about this.. you've saved the Beam! Xreal thanks you!
For real though, S tier comment.
@@gamers-generation lol 😂 thank you sir
i just want a sd card slot or nvme
Fair point, it would definitely make file transfers of media and what not easier. As far as I know, the newly updated version of beam does allow for file transfers into the system, but forgive me I don't recall how much storage is on board.
@@gamers-generation its probably something like 64gb for updates etc
that is one thicc iPod bro
Double Cs bby!
I bought the beam bc my glasses were unusable on the ferry
This is interesting... how come they were unusable on the ferry? Is it a phone compatibility issue?
@@gamers-generation He means that he bought the beam to use the smooth follow function since the default fixed screen was unusable due to the ferry's movement.
Ahhh I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification. I guess then the vibrations on the water made the image look jittery, that makes sense.@@Hovakcool
Xreal air2 and air2 pro on the market
Yes you're right! They're up for preorder now if I'm not mistaken, though they're probably not worth "upgrading" to if you already have a pair of the originals. Thanks for the comment!
Why the hell will they design it exactly like a fat ass ipod?
I wish I could answer that...
Too bad you need the glasses for it
I agree! It's a bit of a miss given you can use something like the Rokid Station to become a portable android TV box.. but I have heard the Beam has an update to include some apps from the Google Play store. Will report back when I've tested it. Thanks for your comment!
Waste of money! It's horrible. I wish I could return mine.
Yeah I feel you... pretty big OOF. Have you been able to find other uses for it?
@gamers-generation not at all. Just big waste of money. Would rather spend that money on Oculus Quest 3 (which i already have).
A lot of reused footage
You're welcome to record your own. 😘
sideview feels like something the air should do onboard like many monitors allow PiP. Assuming my phone will do most of this so a beam or beam pro is mianly for the tracking part - how useful do you think it is to have the screen locked eg against a wall but letting you move your head? I’m used to that in VR but its a decent chunk of change just for tracking.
@MrKlawUK I agree. The Viture glasses do have a type of side view called "ambient mode" built into their phone app, so if assume that the Xreals could so rhe same.
You're rigut also that it's mostly foe 3D0F while mirroring your display. Supposedly there are apps now vs. When I made thisreview, but I haven't checked recently.
