Well done! I am curious how close the Beam Pro with the Ultra glasses do together. There is lots of new toys for developers to use now with the 6DoF the Ultra glasses give.
Quite a bummer they didn’t keep the USB-C video input. Also what would have been cool is if we had a couple of Xreal outputs to watch something with someone else when you have two xreals. So maybe I’ll wait for the next iteration or just buy a used og Beam.
The Beam Pro is made exclusively for Air 2 glasses, so I'm not surprised why Xreal dropped the USB-C video input port. Even I would also buy the standard Beam since it's still capable of doing wireless connection.
You forgot to mention the battery better use on beam pro with glasses because the battery life on beam not so great and beam takes ages to charge but on pro you can have Constant battery charge
This device seems like the perfect companion to the Nreal glasses. It is a HUGE mis-step to exclude the DisplayPort input that they had on Beam v1. There must have been some limitation (maybe heat dissipation?) for them to exclude such an important feature. Unless, they have so many stocks of Beam v1 and they did not want to hurt sales of it and get stuck with all that inventory.
@MobileDecay true, but since it's plastic you'll likely have less damage. I already dropped mine with no scratch on it, that's why i ordered the case asap because it's a bit slippery
Can you export the 3D videos & pics to a PC for post processing or to watch them on a MetaQuest (are they for example MP4 & Jpeg)? A typical 3D camera is $800~$3000 so I thought this can become a game changer for entry level 3D video creators.
Here' the real question which I'm surprised no one has asked. Can you extract the APK from the beam pro and put it on your phone and will it work? I'm sure a lot of us don't care about the 3d cameras and we just like to have the better Nebula OS
@miker230 lol i have tried, but failed. I'm sure someone smarter than me might be able to figure it out. I extracted all the apk files from the built in apps and tried installing them on my samsung, but they just won't work.
I own the 256gb version but cannot get the 330 inch screen unlike what can be done with the origional beam . Really disappointed it doesn't support video input since I cannot use switch on it or pc wired, but great vid and very informative
yeah, imma not get the pro until that option is available. Like how is it "pro" if it can't do the one truly professional feature the beam had? idk, I really hope they listen to community feedback on this and release a version that has it, like what they plan to do with the cellular.
@southerncyan4098 it's had an update to support 330 inch now on xreal air pro 2 and 385inch on the ultras, they didn't add video input to the pro because of temperatures with it being smaller than the og beam, i can understand why since the beam pro does get pretty hot already ,next generation of beam that's black will possibly have video input so might be worth the wait. But the beam pro charges really quickly which is a plus, atm im waiting for my cables to be delivered today ,I'm trying out the magnetic connections for the usb c to try prevent damage to the ports on the beam and glasses so iv ordered 2 usb gen4 40gb 240watt magnetic connections and cables to see if they are compatible since iv heard the beam and glasses can be picky with which cables that will work with them to get 120hz or even work in general il update post if they work Edit cables are compatible at 120hz on rog ally with the ar glasses and also compatible with the beam so guessing magnetic usb port adapters are a must and work amazing with no connection issues also way less ware on the usb port

I like the viture pro glasses more than the xreal glasses (seems like every review is in favour of the xreal pro), but this Xreal beam is for me the main reason to go for the Xreal package. I like the camera feature to take 3D pictures with it. One question: do you think the picture quality of the movies is similar to that of the Quest3?
@SjaakSchulteis not quite, though you get full hd, quest 3 will hands down give a much better solo movie experience. Then again i personally still enjoying movies on this. Plus it's way easier to quickly interact with the real world compared to the quest. They're very different experiences.

@JuneBuggGaming707 in nebula os or on the beam itself? If on the beam itself then you need to swipe from the right edge of the screen to go back. Swipe and hold from the bottom of the screen to access your recently opened apps where you can close them. If on nebular os spatial mode, then move your air mouse towards the top of the screen and an arow for back or x to close should pop up.
Great Q&A. Will we be able to update to Android 15 and newer? How are the 3D pictures and videos? I have the Beam and Air 2 Pro and I use it mostly for movies. I want to be able to use the 3D functions to start capturing images of my 80s horror and scifi statues and figures and share them with my kids.
@blueriverlore yes, you'll be able to upgarde to different android versions as they come, though i don't know for how long. Caturing 3d videos on it are awesome, though not the best quality in low light. I'm not that impressed by the pictures though. But i also have primary been recording videos haha. Oh and movies look way better on this beam pro now than it did on the og beam.

I have preordered the xreal air 2 ultra and I have a oneplus open. Would you recommend buying a Beam? I am not sure how much I will be able to do with the ultra and my mobile
From what i've heard, the oneplus open does support dp, but still your use will be a bit limited. You're basically gonna get the same experience other glasses get when they connect to the beam pro here 00:30
@rrrocha1002 the 6dof will be possible with the beam + ultra as soon as apps are available to take advantage of it. In the meantime you'd probably only get 3dof
How is the battery life? Does this device have thermal issues like the beam did? Can you also discuss any problems or shortcomings with the device? The og beam sounded great on paper until people recieved theirs and lots of complaints arose, curious if this will be the same story
@Burntcrayon-cb7eh check out my page, i was probably the first person to call out all the issues with that beam. This beam pro though is completely unlike that one, though it's not perfect, it still has some faults, some of which i already mentioned in this video and the first impression one. I'll also be making a video soon on the things i don't like about it, you kind of have to dig for some them on this one.

Fyi - i been using multi windows on the original beam for more rhan a year. It doesnt come officiallh out of the box, but if you want to set it up, just enable freedorm windows options in android developer options menu. Then use a launcher (i use nova launcher). I have a couple videos on it myself. Beam can have more than 2 apps open at a time as well. Sometimes i do 4 or 5. But beam doesnt have a strong processor, so doing things take longer. Beam pro will ultimately be a better experience, but if someone only has the beam 1, multi window is possible.

Plus with such a low ram, doing anything other than one app felt too much for me. But i probably should've mentioned that, i just didn't think about it.
Thx for the video and showing the Netflix playback spec. Strange that my S22U shows SD while my Pixel Fold shows Full HD. 🤔 I need to see what the Netflix app says when in DeX mode. All I know is that the quality isn't all that great. The Pixel Fold doesn't have video out nor a desktop mode by default. Keep in mind that you could only do 2 multi windows with the Pro. I think with Samsung DeX you could have multiple in one viewable screen, not spatially. I think if you already have a device that has DeX then something like the Beam Pro isn't really needed so much. This is assuming you have rhe original Beam to do some spatial features. I might still get the Beam Pro later on when it's in Amazon for easier shopping and return if needed. I also want them to work out all the bugs too cause I heard there are a lot of it. We all know how the Beam launch was. I regret getting they device so early as it was just sitting there cause I had there powered dongle as well.
I have Samsung fold 4, and S24 Ultra Netflix is limited to SD on the fold but FHD on S24. Not all apps makes use of the FHD in dex. Also, the beam pro is a much better and unique experience compared to the pro. This is coming from someone's primary reason for sticking with samsung is because of dex.
Hi I need some suggestions I'm looking to buy the xreal air 2 ultra as my first step into AR glasses. Im trying to understand whether to pair it with the beam or the beam pro. One of the use cases I'm looking forward to is having multiple monitors for work. Since I can't install nebula in my work laptop, will getting the beam help me connect the glasses to a windows laptop via a wire and will this give me an option to get upto 3 displays inside the glasses ? Sorry a specific scenario but just wanted to know if you can try this. Also in terms of resolution is the meta quest 3 better than the xreal air 2 ultras ? Again mainly looking from a Spatial computing and workspace perspective
dont be naive, your eyes will be sore after 2 hours, also, it is not THAT sharp and clear as you are lead to believe. DOnt get me wrong, it waaaay sharper and better then VR headset, quest 3 are no where close to image quality to these micro OLED panels Also, I dont see the Ultra glasses have IPD adjustment. That is a HUGE problem for a large number of people, including myself
If you connect to the pc via wired, you'll only get one display unless you use ArMoni since that doesn't require installation on a work pc. Also, i personally don't use these glasses longer than 3-4 hrs for productivity, but i often do for movies. If you're simply looking from the point of work productivity in situations where you can't install a software to the computer then the xreal air 2 will suffice, you don't need the ultra.
You can use moonlight without authenticating every time, even on a different network from your PC. If you learn how Moonlight and Sunshine works, you will have a better experience than anything else. I appreciate your content and how you care about the different use cases for AR.
Sunshine/moonlight has the least amount of lag of any streaming service, I cannot perceive any while gaming (although there is always latency even in a wired monitor/controller due to physics). It also supports wake on LAN so you can wake your pc from sleep remotely
@@KingKola_ Moonlight and Sunshine are a little daunting to learn, especially Sunshine. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to work, but you can figure out how to get it to do a lot of things like wake from sleep. I don't use that feature so I don't know the instructions; but I did have to figure out how to make it automatically resize my monitor and change my refresh rate to match the device I was streaming to. The point is, that Sunshine and Moonlight are flexible. They put all the work on the host PC instead of the Android client; and they are very stable if the hardware is good. To go a step further, when I get my Beam Pro I am planning to clone the Moonlight app and use each clone to stream separate monitors in Nebula. Sunshine can send out two monitors at the same time wireless from my PC, the only question is if Nebula/Beam Pro can handle two instances of Moonlight running at the same time. If it can, then we will have wireless dual monitors with low latency in 3DoF. The Beam 1 can run 1 screen in Moonlight 3DoF with low latency no problem.

Yes, like i was saying this beam is just like any other android phone. Only exception is it doesn't have a sim. The rayneo app i have installed was not from the store.
Is the device ready meaning the beam when it came out was not ready where it would overheat and it was glitchy also does it knock the res down cause the beam was lower res than connecting stright to my phone
anybody knows? if on-screen keyboard entry (through mouse click) is possible in nebula os? when I connect the glasses, there is no on-screen keyboard on the glasses. it asks me to do it on the beam pro screen.
I guess i was wrong about that, you can set it up in a way you won't have to require authorization each time. Authorization meaning you having to manually allow your windows screen to be projected over the internet to the mobile app.
@MatthewWilliams-kh4ww there's always gonna be some sought of lag wirelessly. It just all depends on what you're willing to deal with and what you're doing. If your pc is connected to an ethernet or wifi 6, then your lag will be less. I tried it for video editing just to try it out, and there's definitely a lot of lag in the audio. But seemed fine for word and excel.

14:10 that is incorrect. You can buy a Display port with USB to USB C and have your PC connected to glasses. Works flawless. Glasses act like external display on your PC/laptop
@drmarioschannel you don't need a sim tbh, just use hotspot from your main phone, or public wifi. If not then just wait a couple of months when the version with sim will be available.
It's not a whole lot different than what i get with samsung dex and i love either. When i want a different experience, i simply switch to the tv when i actually pay for Netflix's 4k.
so for the laptop issue i was thinking. if i buy a usb c male to 1 usb c female and 1 hdmi or another usb c, if i connect the usb c male to either the beam pro or the glasses and then hdmi goes to laptop and usb c female connects to the glasses or laptop? idk why that wouldn’t work.
I have one and I am very disappointed with it. Why they decided to not allow the second usb c port to be an input makes this thing a waste of money. Buying extra leads to use it with my desktop. What were they thinking. I was expecting to connect to pc transfer files and watch movies, same with games. Xreal need to listen to people and get rid of the idiot who designed this. I would not recommend this. I wish I had watched this video before buying mine. Going to have to get the xreal beam original now.

Also own the beam and it's OK but I use the glasses heavily on solo (just the glasses connected to the mobile phone without the beam) and I'm loving it. Certainly not paid and all purchases I made were after extensive research and from my hard earned money!

I got the case. I don't have the Beam. It seems better than I thought but it's not saving any device from a hard drop.

Also, i personally don't use these glasses longer than 3-4 hrs for productivity, but i often do for movies. If you're simply looking from the point of work productivity in situations where you can't install a software to the computer then the xreal air 2 will suffice, you don't need the ultra.
You can use moonlight without authenticating every time, even on a different network from your PC. If you learn how Moonlight and Sunshine works, you will have a better experience than anything else. I appreciate your content and how you care about the different use cases for AR.

Is there lag on moonlight/sunlight?
Sunshine/moonlight has the least amount of lag of any streaming service, I cannot perceive any while gaming (although there is always latency even in a wired monitor/controller due to physics). It also supports wake on LAN so you can wake your pc from sleep remotely
@@KingKola_ Moonlight and Sunshine are a little daunting to learn, especially Sunshine. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to work, but you can figure out how to get it to do a lot of things like wake from sleep. I don't use that feature so I don't know the instructions; but I did have to figure out how to make it automatically resize my monitor and change my refresh rate to match the device I was streaming to. The point is, that Sunshine and Moonlight are flexible. They put all the work on the host PC instead of the Android client; and they are very stable if the hardware is good.
To go a step further, when I get my Beam Pro I am planning to clone the Moonlight app and use each clone to stream separate monitors in Nebula. Sunshine can send out two monitors at the same time wireless from my PC, the only question is if Nebula/Beam Pro can handle two instances of Moonlight running at the same time. If it can, then we will have wireless dual monitors with low latency in 3DoF. The Beam 1 can run 1 screen in Moonlight 3DoF with low latency no problem.
Can I play video content stored on a PC, transfer them to an SD card and insert it into the Beam to watch them?
OR how about using an SD card reader plugged into the 2nd USB slot? That might be acceptable.

Yes, like i was saying this beam is just like any other android phone. Only exception is it doesn't have a sim. The rayneo app i have installed was not from the store.
Is the device ready meaning the beam when it came out was not ready where it would overheat and it was glitchy also does it knock the res down cause the beam was lower res than connecting stright to my phone

if on-screen keyboard entry (through mouse click) is possible in nebula os? when I connect the glasses, there is no on-screen keyboard on the glasses. it asks me to do it on the beam pro screen.

@RaHeru1 i tried already and it didn't work, but maybe they can do some update to allow it because the nebula screen does show up, but nothing else.

Question when you say you need to authorize your computer with moonlight to use it what do you mean?
I guess i was wrong about that, you can set it up in a way you won't have to require authorization each time. Authorization meaning you having to manually allow your windows screen to be projected over the internet to the mobile app.
@@KingKola_ I can access my Log In Windows screen remotely using Moonlight. I also use Tailscale to be able to access it from a different network.

The glass to use for mirror your app on the phone is the best way to go. IMO.
Do you feel that Google Remote Desktop works without lag?
@MatthewWilliams-kh4ww there's always gonna be some sought of lag wirelessly. It just all depends on what you're willing to deal with and what you're doing. If your pc is connected to an ethernet or wifi 6, then your lag will be less. I tried it for video editing just to try it out, and there's definitely a lot of lag in the audio. But seemed fine for word and excel.

14:10 that is incorrect. You can buy a Display port with USB to USB C and have your PC connected to glasses. Works flawless. Glasses act like external display on your PC/laptop

@drmarioschannel you don't need a sim tbh, just use hotspot from your main phone, or public wifi. If not then just wait a couple of months when the version with sim will be available.

It's not a whole lot different than what i get with samsung dex and i love either. When i want a different experience, i simply switch to the tv when i actually pay for Netflix's 4k.
so for the laptop issue i was thinking. if i buy a usb c male to 1 usb c female and 1 hdmi or another usb c, if i connect the usb c male to either the beam pro or the glasses and then hdmi goes to laptop and usb c female connects to the glasses or laptop? idk why that wouldn’t work.

That's just how it is when you're recording the screen within the glasses. IRL it's smooth tho.
I have one and I am very disappointed with it. Why they decided to not allow the second usb c port to be an input makes this thing a waste of money. Buying extra leads to use it with my desktop. What were they thinking. I was expecting to connect to pc transfer files and watch movies, same with games. Xreal need to listen to people and get rid of the idiot who designed this. I would not recommend this. I wish I had watched this video before buying mine. Going to have to get the xreal beam original now.
No video passthrough makes this device utterly useless to me.
I hope they release a newer version which upgrades that one port

@@KingKola_Amen to that. xReal Air 2 pro owner here and it's solid. Also own the beam and it's OK but I use the glasses heavily on solo (just the glasses connected to the mobile phone without the beam) and I'm loving it. Certainly not paid and all purchases I made were after extensive research and from my hard earned money!
