Just found your channel the other day and I’m hooked. Nice presentation of these. I have 4 kids 13-22 and just now starting to get a couple of them into the retro scene. My 13 year old loves some of them (he likes ninja Gaiden like I did). Keep it up man.
If any guilty pleasures I had, was back in the 6th grade when I bought Donkey Kong classics for NES. I told one friend and he laughed so hard. I didn't mention it again. Then the other came in the form of Tomb Raider, the original. At the very first, I didn't want to even try it. But when a game I bought at Kay-Bee Toys was defective, and they had no other copy to replace, I was offered to take the lovely Lara home. I'm glad I did, that game was a blast to play. Full open 3d world to explore. Think I will go see her after work and fight that T-Rex again. Lol. Great video as usual man!
Those were all good games, especially considering the time and system they were on. I think the fact the AVGN had some fun talking some smack and pointing out some flaws in these games gave a bad image in some folks mind's, especially those who didn't grow up with them.
When I saw this thumbnail and title my mind went straight to The Little Mermaid and boom, that's what you kick the list off with. WCW/NWO and all of the N64 wrestling games to follow were absolutely amazing! Especially being able to have 4 players. Countless nights of gaming joy with my dudes! I love your channel and the fact that you're a fellow Mountaineer makes it even better!
Wow Stuff We Play!!! Thanks so much for the kind words. Helps keep us motivated. Hope you enjoyed the video man and I hope to see you around again here at the channel!
GenerationGapGaming Thanks to you. By the way, I loved the NWO World Tour, there were hours and hours and hours playing on my N64, I wish I could have it again.
I heard you mention you were from southern West Virginia. I was born in Morgantown. My grandparents lived in Morgantown and I would always spend two weeks during the summer with them there. I LOVE West Virginia! Always cool to hear someone else from there. It really is a beautiful state with really good people there. Anyway, great video!
The response at the school I went to was HEE HEE if they found out any kids listened to Michael Jackson and liked and played the Moon Walker game on the Sega Genesis

Pigs in Space was one of my favorite Atari games when I was a kid. And my friends and I spent a lot of quarters beating the Moonwalker arcade game lol. Thanks for the video!
My top guilty pleasure is Bonanza Bros on the Genesis because it's one of my favorite games of all time and I replay it often. It's short and very sweet, especially with 2 players.
Hmm never heard of Bonanza Bros. I'm going to a gaming convention this weekend. I'll have to be on the lookout for it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting man! Hope to see you around again here at the channel!
WcW vs nWo World Tour was the game I got when I got a N64 for my birthday. My college friends and I made stables and fought for all the titles every week. Great times!
I owned Taz Mania back in college and really loved it. The graphics and controls were very good for a game of its type. It's good to see someone finally show this game some love.
I didn't know some of these would be considered guilty pleasures! Taz and Tazmania were considered super cool where I was growing up and Moonwalker was a very popular game.
I have always loved the little mermaid. Just think, if it wasn't a 'girly' game, it would have been so much more popular. Well made, controlled well, etc.
Retro gaming fan, and a wrestling fan?! You definitely got yourself another subscriber. And if you're into Transformers, and 80's and 90's Lego space theme's, you might have a new best friend. Lol
I don't think I have any guilty pleasures when it comes to gaming. Then again, I never played The Little Mermaid, lol! CONGRATULATIONS on 1000 subs, guys! You rock, keep it going!
You gotta play the little mermaid Vader. It's better than you think. Thanks so much man! Cant believe we made it to 1k subs. Really appreciate that you enjoy our content and always great to hear from you!
Battle Chess for the NES. Each piece captured another piece in a different way. For instance , if I remember correctly, the rook would eat the queen when he captured her .
Yoshi's Story. I was going to the gym and benching 300 at a time, rock-solid, into rough-housing and just started shooting handguns at the range, playing Bomberman 64, NBA Live, Street Figther EX, everything masculine. So of course I played Yoshi's Story and got addicted. The details were charming: the sniffing, the sound when struggling to push an object, the menu select and the antics of the different Yoshis. Karma.
I’m from Oklahoma, so we share the same sentiment concerning Moonwalker & Magic Kingdom. They were definitely fun, but weren’t discussed. Different times....
I played that Little Mermaid game as a little kid all the time. I had no idea it was made by Capcom but that explains why it was fun to play. Something about Disney and Capcom on the NES back then, they just couldn't go wrong. Magic Kingdom Adventures I played a lot too, but I was never really embarrassed about playing that one.
Love Tennis games. I played the hell out of Jimmy Connors Tennis on the SNES and Top Spin on the original Xbox. Also, WCW/NWO Revenge was our wrestling game of choice.
My buddies and I put some serious time into Virtua Tennis. We converted several non-believers. And I put massive amounts of hours into Moonwalker. Great list.
Great list. I will admit some of these Ive never heard of...mainly the Atari or Disney ones however you have alot of games on this list you shouldn't be ashamed of. The beavis and butthead game was incredible and I still play it today ditto for tazmania! Im shocked you picked the wcw game over no mercy which is arguably one of the best wrestling games of all time. Loved the inclusion of FMV titles as there are a few i love like night trap and ground zero texas! Also virtua tennis is one of the best sports games ever! Great video man!
Great video dude ...dont EVER be ashamed to admit you enjoyed these games...sometimes you get addicted to the games regardless of the content the characters and themes are just covers for marketing purposes it's about replayability, addictiveness (made that word up lol), and overall fun thar matter ...it takes someone intelligent to see through and not "judge" the game by its "cover" and this makes me want to locate the old systems and games at some garage sale and enjoy hours of fun exploring these underrated quality games...its as if the discovery of these games for.me combined with your excellent review of games will make it almost feel as if they were just released and I can feel nostalgic and keep me entertained for hours with as if I just got a "new" game! It's like finding a lost episode of one of my favorite 80s sitcoms where I thought I had seen every episode ...so much to discover!!! I didnt think too much of my parents giving away or throwing out my old game systems and games as a kid as I was into the newer systems with better graphics and didnt care but I find myself hunting for my old childhood toys again...who knew that one day I would feel nostalgic and want to go back to a happier time and arguably the best time to be a middle class kid in America....the 80s!!!
I had Taz Mania...great game! My two biggest guilty pleasures were on the NES...Top Gun and Jaws. They were weekend rentals and the only weekend rentals I actually managed to beat! It was a good feeling that my weekend wasn't wasted. 😎
Cool!! You kind of brought back the kind hood memories of what it was for me to have fun in a game just discovering the game had more depth to explore it captured something in You! I definitely miss That feeling...8 bit days Honestly can't be beat..but kids today wouldn't understand
Mickey Mousecapade for the NES, since you mentioned you are a Disney fan! It's interesting that the goal in the Moonwalker game was to have Michael save children...interesting.... Nice list, I've never played any of these game but a couple of them look promising, I can't admit which one's though...haha
“Another guilty pleasure of mine growing up was the Muppet Babies.” Oh God bless you Tyler. You earned a subscriber and a huge fan from that. Muppet Babies was one of my favorite TV shows EVER. But it wasn’t “cool” to like the Muppet Babies and now I see fans coming out of the woodwork, especially with the advent of the new show on Disney Junior. I’m not bitter about that. (At least, not THAT bitter. Maybe just a touch.) Also, that Atari Pigs in Space game sounds amazing. Definitely going to have to keep an eye out for that one even though I don’t collect for the 2600 whatsoever, as a Muppets fan in general I gotta keep an eye out for that one. (And btw I almost typed in ‘meep’ when typing in the word ‘keep’, so that should tell you just how big of a Muppets fan I am.)
I have great memories of 10-8. I bought "Beavis" on Genesis the day it came out. I still play it. If I had to pick a personal guilty pleasure, it's hard to come up with just one, but I'm going to have to go with "Pokemon Snap," because I was already too old to be in the general age group of its fans, and because it's a lesser-known title in the franchise. It's really fun.
My biggest guilty pleasure is Final Fantasy 10-2. Yeah a bit corney and cheesy in spots but i loved it all the same. And looking at Rikku and Paine was like looking at Ginger and Mary Ann.
Thanks Ryan! Beavis and Butthead is still awesome! And yeah Macho Man did the best promos ever. You can tell he just grabbed whatever was in the room as a prop lol. Hope to see you around again here at the channel man!
Both Bugs Bunny games on NES (Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout and Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle) are guilty pleasures for me. They're not all-time greats by any means and they each have their flaws, but they're both fun!
Jon I know quite a few people who love the NES Bugs Bunny title so I can believe you. Great box art for those games too. Thanks for sharing your guilty pleasures. Hope you enjoyed the video man and I hope to see you around again here at the channel!
First time watching, about to subscribe. That pokemon puzzle game looks familiar. It appears to be a clone of a snes game, tetris attack. It's a great game I never owned until adulthood. As a kid, my grandma had it, but we only saw her once a year. All the grandkids would be fighting for turns and I, being the youngest, got my ass kicked every time. Lol. Still good fun though. My wife and kids love it.
Ahh the early 1990's FMV game era. My Guilty was It Came from the Desert, TG16CD, notable for not having engrish in it. I do remember playing and beating Moonwalker.
Jeff Davis how ya doin man? Never played it came from the desert but I'd probably love it lol. Moonwalker is awesome dude! Thanks for sharing your guilty pleasure.
That disney nes game was a jewel, i remember dressing as that kid for my birthday, i even cut a hat and wore explorer clothes. Anyway, music is great and its capcom, so you cant lose with that
We all enjoy some games that were not considered cool or had terrible gameplay. Those guilty pleasures bring back good memories from the past when times seemed better.
Blog Man you are spot on man. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Hope you enjoyed the video man and I hope to see you around again here at the channel!
I had a guilty pleasure many years ago for the Comadore 64. First of all, I was NOT gonna brag to my friends who were playing the Sega that I was so broke that my family had a C64, nor would I brag about the awsome Winnie The Poo game that I spent so much time on
This is a great list, I played almost all of these games myself as a kid. I suppose one of my biggest guilty pleasure games is the Dynasty Warriors games, especially Hyrule Warriors. They are mindless button mashers but I still love them and always have a good time. As for classic guilty pleasure games? Hmm... Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on the Sega Game Gear. The Game Gear version was completely different than that awful Genesis version of Power Rangers, and even though it was a very basic simple 1v1 fighting game, I still loved the hell out of it. I had Mortal Kombat for my Game Gear and I still preferred to play Power Rangers.
Cool list. I'd have to disagree of people making fun about liking Michael Jackson game. This was a great game and the arcade version always had people of different ages playing it. Perhaps it was where you lived but many of my friends growing up had this in their collection.
I've never heard of the magic kingdom game prior to this list but I'm going to have to show it to my wife because she has been utterly obsessed with returning to Disney world since we went there on our honeymoon

GenerationGapGaming oh my youve never played ground zero texas?
No.....but I need to get it!
GenerationGapGaming pfft agreed!
@2:39 oh man I loved that game. My friend and I used to play it all the time.
Well said man! The 8 bit days were magical for sure and most games still hold up pretty well today. Thanks for taking time to comment D Nice!
Man, I loved Pigs in Space! Totally had forgotten about that game.
The Star Wars FMV game is awesome. I couldn't beat one of the levels later on though. It was escaping tunnels in your ship and it was merciless.
Mickey Mousecapade for the NES, since you mentioned you are a Disney fan!
It's interesting that the goal in the Moonwalker game was to have Michael save children...interesting....
Nice list, I've never played any of these game but a couple of them look promising, I can't admit which one's though...haha
All of those games bring back memories. #10 and the movie is definitely my guilty pleasure.
Yes another muppet babies fan!! Great to meet you BJ. Thanks so much for subscribing man and welcome to G3!
It's really fun.
moon walker was a big thing in my school im 34 ,, every one in the hood had this game
My biggest guilty pleasure is Final Fantasy 10-2. Yeah a bit corney and cheesy in spots but i loved it all the same. And looking at Rikku and Paine was like looking at Ginger and Mary Ann.
I remember playing Michael Jackson's moonwalker at the arcade it was awesome
cool video bro I used to like playing Ecco the Dolphin on Sega Genesis
Mine was Strawberry Shortcake on the 2600. I always made sure my parents weren't in the room. Something I _didn't_ have to do with Custer's Revenge. 😄
Man I LOVED muppet babies as a kid. Before school eating eggo waffles for several years in elementary
"Tyler, are you okay?
Are you okay?
Are you okay, Tyler?
You've been hit by,
you've been struck by,
some smooth retro games!"
Nice!!!!
I LOVED Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. One of my favorite NES games!
Great list and love the Cup of Coffee promo!! I have a few games but gonna pick uo beavis butthead now. And, Moonwalker, kicks ass!!
Thanks Ryan! Beavis and Butthead is still awesome! And yeah Macho Man did the best promos ever. You can tell he just grabbed whatever was in the room as a prop lol. Hope to see you around again here at the channel man!
Macho Man used to break into the janitors closet seeing he would always have a mop, broom or trash. Ohhhh yeahhhhhh taking out the trash!
Jon C. Oh yeah, played those and loved 'em!
Crazy Castle looked and played like a really good early 80’s arcade game. It just came out at the wrong time.
Yeah Sam it is in the same vein as Tetris Attack. Glad to hear the whole family loves it!!!!
Dracula Unleashed for the Sega CD was incredible. Loved that game.
Robert that gsme is so underrated. I love it too. I think its very well produced.
@@GenerationGapGaming Also, I may pick up a Dreamcast just to play Virtua Tennis. Looks amazing.
Moonwalker was loved by all my friends in high school, both arcade and Genesis versions
That disney nes game was a jewel, i remember dressing as that kid for my birthday, i even cut a hat and wore explorer clothes. Anyway, music is great and its capcom, so you cant lose with that
Where is prof polo?
repping for the WV! Nice to hear!
Your background music reminds me of the bgm in an old cartoon I used to watch called the raccoons
World tour and revenge were awesome. My dad would even play revenge with my brothers and I. I still consider those the best wrestling games ever.
Was at Raw on 64 where you could build your own wrestlers? Whichever one that was was badass
Love the channel! I'm from Greenbrier County! What part of WV are you from?
Wcw vs. Nwo was my first Nintendo 64 game. I got the purple "see-through" 64 system and the game for Christmas.
I can't forget my mad catz expansion pack. It was a few bucks less but it worked.
