      Dont worry dude. Its not to fast, since im used to Hardops/Boxcutter that all looks pretty self-explenatory. But youve done a good job explaining it. I think i could easily get the same result with hardops/boxcutter in the same time. But with plasticity i would not have to worry about cleaning potential shading errors, thats what i find interessting . Is it possible to do unwrapping in plasticity?

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  Год назад +2

      @@hoodboyslim
      Yeah for basic props like that you can surely model it in the same time or faster in Blender.
      But CAD has a lot of advantages over polygonal modeling to create more complex shapes.
      UV unwrapping inside of Plasticity is not possible. You have to export it as a mesh and do the UV work in Blender (for now)

    So when importing to a software like to blender, to UV unwrap, then substance, etc etc. The model you create is very low poly? I am newer to the field, but my focus is on high fidelity stuff for film. So would a program like this create high quality enough models?, I’ve seen pictures of the cars, but different from a rendered driving scene. Would you just need to do some sub-diving and adjusting of topology in blender afterwards? Thanks for the videos, and the software really looks great and fun to use.

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  Год назад +2

      Hi Jacob,
      Great question!
      You can create in Plasticity a low-poly version of the model (without fillets and less details). Save it. Then create a high-poly model to bake the texture maps etc into Normal map etc... SO than you can use the low-poly 3d model version in Games or something like that.
      If you want a more detailed high-poly version of the model you can create as many details as you want in Plasticity and export it as a mesh. So you can unwrap it further and use in film and however you want.
      Regarding adjusting topology in Blender.
      Normally, you create a 3D model in Plasticity as you want it and export it as a mesh and import it into Blender. You get pretty good mesh results already in Plasticity but it's not something you can work further and "adujust" with a SubD workflow. But you don't really need it because you can just create the model as you need fully in Plasticity and then use it in Film/Texturing in Blender.
      I hope it answers your question. Let me know if you need anything else.
      Enjoy!

    Omg that is so much easier to use than F360, the fact that you can select the center of a square sounds insignificant but holy crap that was tedious in F360, you had to hover over two edges to get the center point of each them to get the intersection between mid points.
    Literally my only gripe with this program is the units are in meters, creating stuff with more precision is difficult at that scale and I can't find any way to change it aside from altering the grid size which isn't very helpful.

Recently (3 weeks ago) I was hired at an architectural firm as a 3d modeler (they really trusted my ability to learn) and I'm using autocad + sketchup to do so architectural models. At my home after work I am delving a lot into blender the fields I want to delve into are hard surfaces (I love mecha and robots) and that is the field where I will use plasticity, then I am interested in sculpting, but for that the tools already in blender are more than fine (no need to go to zbrush) and finally I am interested in the animation part, in which I want to combine the things I create into animations also with rigging. All this obviously as a hobby and not directly related to work but these are things that maybe will come in handy in the future.
      Ps. I hope I didn't make any mistakes, I'm Italian and every now and then I might miss some words in English

      I don't know what global variables and parametrics are.

    • @JohnDoe-rx3vn
      @JohnDoe-rx3vn Год назад +1

      @@nikita.kapustin say you wanted a plate with four holes, and sometimes that plate has to be bigger, or the holes have to change sizes. You create a 'global variable' called 'holesize', and tell the holes that they are now 'holesize' big. Now you make 'holesize' equal to whatever size you need, and all four holes automatically grow or shrink to the correct size.
      Parametrics is using tools like that to create parts where some dimensions are the result of mathematical relations between other dimensions, or can be changed by changing variables
