Had a 205 19GTi . Bored to 2.1 (ish) upgraded rods and pistons head skimmed and ported . removed injector system replaced with 2X twin 45 which made it a monster
how much hp? cus im building a seat ibiza from 07 with 1.6 bts engine (i know its way different but i need a sort of goal to hit) cus im getting a chip tune soon that makes it from 105 to 126hp and like 30nm more of torque
Being on a J plate the rear lights are correct and the later 1.6 had 115bhp. Lovely car by the way. I had the it's bigger brother 309 GTi on a J plate. My mate had the MI 16 engine in his 205. Went like sh*t off a shovel. Very fast
The clio 1.8 16v (not the Williams) was also brilliant. They looked mega with the bonnet scoop and with an induction kit sounded nuts - 137bhp or so wasn’t bad either - rare as hens teeth now sadly
Taylor teaming up with AutoAlex is the best thing ever. This car is lush, I had a 309 with the same engine conversion with a K+N filter and it sounded awesome. I still stand in the corner, weeping and scolding myself for selling it (8yrs ago) 😢
Those rear lights are correct. A J-reg car should be a phase 2. (Disclaimer: Not a total 205 geek, just had a J-reg 205 myself... a DTurbo in flame red. Very rare!)
Taylor, the mi 16 engine came out of the Peugeot 405 gti. In fact, memory serves me right it was gunman tuning that put that engine in the 205 first .turbo technics did their business and their was a supercharger conversion. Styling was dimma wide arches plus other companies the list was neaver ending
Based on the reg it’s registered 30th march 1992 so it’s a phase two, so the rear lights are correct and the front orange indicators are wrong they should be clear ones . I was thinking straight away as I had a 1992 205 rallye I bought brand new and that had clear indicators all round. Great video and awesome presenter you are!!!!!
I mean most of the videos on this channel are with Taylor as the host, at this point they can just change it to AutoTaylor and I'm sure everyone will be happy with that lol. I absolutely love every single video this lad makes, fun, educational, the cars he presents are always interesting, just a 10/10 overall viewing experience!
Had a 205 Rallye for 10 years with most of it living with a 2.0 16v under the bonet. Brings back memmories! Don't know if they still produce for the 205 but you can take a look at Baker BM in the UK for some nice parts
Really great episode, thank you. Reminds me of the Miami Blue 1.9 Gti I had ‘back in the day’!. A J-reg J62 MLM that turned into J17 PUG and the front cover of Redline Magazine in January 2000! ‘The Millenium Pug’! GTMI-16v-6-speed. 1.9 mi16 from a Citroen BX and a 6-speed from the 306 gti-6. Such the sweet spot. Also had the Peugeot Eccosse body kit on it too and an £8k light weight sound system! Epic times for sure. 🤪
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Would love to see some more stuff like this. Whatever happened to that turbo alto kei car? Would love to see some kei car practicality videos on UK roads
Loved my 1.9Gti! They were such versatile little cars - My mate did a couple of Mi16 conversions, I bought an engine off a guy who had turbo'd his. The 306 Rallye/Gti6 engine was also a good option for these.
Really enjoying the content on the AutoTaylor V1 channel 😂😂 great stuff Taylor it’s great hearing someone as afflicted by cars as we all are talking so passionately
All the dials on the dash tickle the very specific nostalgia part of my brain as my parents had a base model 205 when I was a kid. Would love a GTi at some point.
Taylor’s garage is making me jealous! A 205 GTi and a R53 MINI shown recently, 2 of my dream cars. Given the 205 is a 1992, the rear lights are correct. If memory services, those lights were introduced in 1990/91.
I love these - my mother had one when i was 4 - 9 years old and we used to call it the 'Scuzz bomb' and do jumps on the sleeping policemen in holland park.
The 1988 205 GTI 1.9 I owned back in the mid 90’s was one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Not fast by today’s standards, but back then it felt quick enough and was like a go-cart on the twisty back roads.
An iconic car. You'll see with Alex's 208 GTi (if only he didn't buy the unreliable pre-facelift), they paid homage to the 205 GTI after the 206 and 207 GTI failed to live up to anywhere near the 205 GTI standards. Most noticeably the oval GTI badge on the C-Pillar and the red interior trim. Also, you are providing the best car content.
Learnt to drive in 205 ,1.8 diesel, it flew. And the other car (my dads) that helped me pass my test, was an Austin Allegro 1500 estate in metallic brown.
Would be nice to see how you tidy this up. I like mods but theres something nice about seeing the paint tidied up and little jobs that make all the difference
Had a similar looking one about 12 years ago with a 306 gti6 engine and a xsara vts gearbox, was an absolute flyer back then, similar performance to a m2 focus rs
A video presented this well on the 205 GTI brings a tear to my eye. I got into cars thanks to my dad's black 1.9, well over 15 years ago. "Faster, dad!, tiny me would yell while we were bombing it down B roads at well over 100mph. I really hope we see a lot more of this car. Neither me nor my dad have forgiven him for selling that beautiful nugget of French gold, despite the majority of my life having been post-205.
I had a 1.6 on an H plate, just before they changed the rear lights. The last H plates had the new rear lights, this J reg will be correct. It would have had 115bhp as well by then. The first ones had 105bhp but that increased. The best car I've ever owned. I sold it and never made it to its next MOT 😢. Topaz blue it was.
I’ve so been looking forward to this one since Taylor said about it on the podcast and it does not disappoint at all what a amazing car so happy to see another classic 90s car on the road
My mates sister had a 1.9 back in early 2000s she had a little bump in it front panel etc ! We spent about 4-5 weekends repairing it got it spot on! First start my mate turned it over! (In gear no clutch 😒) Bang straight into the garage wall! Worst than before lol 🤔😆😆
If Taylor made a V2 episode on how to make the perfect Pot Noodle and a full review on it it would still be better than 99% of the YT content out there!!
Decent purchase Taylor and sounds like a hoot! I had a 1.9 many, many years ago which I absolutely adored. Make sure you flush the sunroof drain pipes every so often to avoid a flooded cabin. ;-)
Them 405 mi 16, also come in 4x4. I used to own one. It wasn't fast at all but it could red line all day. I think that engine fits the 205 perfectly. Just not enough for the 405 especially 4x4.
We have 4 Peugeot 205s sadly no gtis. We have 2 very early ones one being an A reg GL in heather green and a B reg XL in the same colour. Both with a tan interior. We have a red 205 1.8D (gti replica) and a blue 5 door also a 1.8d brilliant cars. Also your car is a phase 1.5. The phase ones had a more boxy and 80s interior
Had 309gti16 with basically the same engine factory fitted. Dimma bodykit would be the bollocks on 205, but will probably be more expensive now than the car itself. Goodwood green was the ultimate 309 when it comes to rarity.
Taylor is an unreal presenter. Feels like he’s done it for years.
When you think about it selling is like presenting and he's done that for a while 😎
The best!
Agreed. Fantastic video! Looking forward to the follow-up.
I agree
Needs his own channel , makes the show for me👌🏻
Clarkson said that the new GT presenter should be a real car enthusiast. Here’s one candidate!
This!!!
This!! (Again)
Taylor has blossomed into quite the professional presenter
Quite??
Mother fucker he’s the best outta the lot of them! Alex and Rory are dog shit in comparison to Taylor
There's a reason Alex picked him up after trying to buy a car off him. He's a natural car shit chatter... and we all love that.
Had a 205 19GTi . Bored to 2.1 (ish) upgraded rods and pistons head skimmed and ported . removed injector system replaced with 2X twin 45 which made it a monster
how much hp?
cus im building a seat ibiza from 07 with 1.6 bts engine (i know its way different but i need a sort of goal to hit)
cus im getting a chip tune soon that makes it from 105 to 126hp and like 30nm more of torque
V2 should be called Taylor made cars. Great car 205 GTI! More please!
He's the only reason I watch this channel, seriously. I could take or leave the others, Taylor is head and shoulders above.
Nah, it's gotta be more simple. Taylor's Tat would do it
Taylor and Jooshy make this channel, the dynamic is epic.
Taylor is the man. I could watch you all day.
Taylor to take us to a car auction would be so fun, I love watching Taylor and hearing all his knowledge X such a natural presenter
My first intro to fast hot hatches was the 205 GTI, but it was a 1.9.... such a great little motor.
Lucky bastard
I drove my license with my brothers 1.6 gti cool car
Taylor you're such a natural at this. Really enjoy watching you do car reviews!
Being on a J plate the rear lights are correct and the later 1.6 had 115bhp. Lovely car by the way. I had the it's bigger brother 309 GTi on a J plate. My mate had the MI 16 engine in his 205. Went like sh*t off a shovel. Very fast
100% correct. I had a g plate 1.9 which was a phase 1.5 car and had amber lights. Clear lights came in from phase 2 H plate cars onward
Yes, was just about to say, rear lights are definitely correct.
Didn't the 309 handle better than the 205?
@@PJ-om2wq yes it was a better handling car. 205's were known for going through hedges backwards
lol yes. That’s why the 309 was the rally car back in the day. Ex group B
This felt like old school Top Gear. Taylor is a natural presenter.
Taylor being the star of the show once again. What a brilliant presenter
The clio 1.8 16v (not the Williams) was also brilliant. They looked mega with the bonnet scoop and with an induction kit sounded nuts - 137bhp or so wasn’t bad either - rare as hens teeth now sadly
what time next vid do you think he's going to say "we have got some BC racing coil overs" Lmao
Taylor teaming up with AutoAlex is the best thing ever. This car is lush, I had a 309 with the same engine conversion with a K+N filter and it sounded awesome. I still stand in the corner, weeping and scolding myself for selling it (8yrs ago) 😢
Sorry for your loss I had a J plate GRD and it was slow until you got to the corners then it was pretty impressive
Those rear lights are correct. A J-reg car should be a phase 2. (Disclaimer: Not a total 205 geek, just had a J-reg 205 myself... a DTurbo in flame red. Very rare!)
6:20 when the oil pressure drops off completely 😂
Big yikes
i'm guessing that's just the old electronics acting up, the fuel level dropped to zero too. I could be wrong though
@@gamernamedjacob it is french, second only to the italians for electronics. Still would make your arse pucker if you saw it while doing a pull.
these were terrifying down the back roads with mates. love em
Plain, simple and absolutely brilliant videos from Taylor
I could watch Taylor review a winery in Italy & be enthralled the entire time, dude can talk
Taylor is an absolute gem of a presenter btw and I absolutely adore his content. Very comical but knows MOSTof his shite 🎉
This is my late teenage years in car form
Taylor, the mi 16 engine came out of the Peugeot 405 gti. In fact, memory serves me right it was gunman tuning that put that engine in the 205 first .turbo technics did their business and their was a supercharger conversion. Styling was dimma wide arches plus other companies the list was neaver ending
And the mi 16 engine from the Peugeot 405 came from the Citroen BX 16v, France's first mass produced 16 valve engine apparently.
@@howiegreen1646 It wasn't called 405 GTi. Was just 405 Mi 16. 👍🏻
@@Reacher2202 apparently, the engines from the BX GTi were a better fit than those from Mi16…
Taylor and a 205. Ultimate episode!
A J plate (1991/92) 205 is a late one, they had an update in 1990 I think, so the rear lights are probably correct.
ITBs are a must.
And take a bit of silencing off the exhaust, not too much, but just enough to give the sound a bit of raspiness.
5:20 Single wiper conversion. Proper 90s
We NEED a Taylor Channel
Pretty pretty please
I mean most of the videos on this channel are with Taylor as the host, at this point they can just change it to AutoTaylor and I'm sure everyone will be happy with that lol. I absolutely love every single video this lad makes, fun, educational, the cars he presents are always interesting, just a 10/10 overall viewing experience!
Yes one more channel. HQ gonna be a mess.
Had a 205 Rallye for 10 years with most of it living with a 2.0 16v under the bonet. Brings back memmories!
Don't know if they still produce for the 205 but you can take a look at Baker BM in the UK for some nice parts
keep finding these gems and reviewing them its what we need in the youtuber car channels
Reminding me of how younger Clarkson did it. Great camera edits and angles too! When is Taylor’s channel coming out?
Love Taylor presenting . I'd love more videos like this and buying guides
Excellent taste in cars Taylor. Cap doffed sir !😂
Taylor just always puts a smile on my face!
That little car has a nice exhaust note
Actually prefer this channel than the main channel
Mate this was such a good rewiew of the car. It brings me old Top gear vibes in mind, but without a tv bullshit. Great job. Wish You all the best !
I used to have a Mi16 205 gti back in the day. Loved it to bits. Hell of a fun drive. And kudos for days!
I have great fond memories of 205 gtis as a child , my gran and grandad both owned one at the same time , 1.6 and the 1.9 respectively
I'm so happy I lived this era for real. Passed my test in 91 and was the most fun times ever behind the wheel.
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Would love to see some more stuff like this. Whatever happened to that turbo alto kei car? Would love to see some kei car practicality videos on UK roads
This should be the main channel .. I am not Gay but that Taylor 😘 I would😂
Loved my 1.9Gti! They were such versatile little cars - My mate did a couple of Mi16 conversions, I bought an engine off a guy who had turbo'd his. The 306 Rallye/Gti6 engine was also a good option for these.
Cheers Taylor! Great presenting.
Really enjoyed that Episode Taylor. Took me right back to 2006 when I had my 1.9 GTi. I've just bought a MK1 XR2 as some nostalgia ❤
Love this, been looking forward to this video for ages, ngl - ever since you mentioned it on the podcast.. Great stuff!
Really enjoying the content on the AutoTaylor V1 channel 😂😂 great stuff Taylor it’s great hearing someone as afflicted by cars as we all are talking so passionately
The new top gear presenters

6:23 I think we're witnessing the birth of a modern day Mike Brewer right here!! I can see Taylor being offered proper telly stuff very soon!
Our family car when I was a kid was a 309 1.9 gti. Thing could move. Miss the hell out of it and you never see them now.
Had a 205xs as a kid and loved it, (couldn't afford a GTI) looking forward to the next vid an seeing the mods
That pugs struck lucky! Taylor will pamper the little slobbering mutt! 😆👍🏻
Had one of these when I was 18! Absolutely loved it, amazing car, would love to have another one
Learnt to drive in 205 ,1.8 diesel, it flew. And the other car (my dads) that helped me pass my test, was an Austin Allegro 1500 estate in metallic brown.

Amazing video Taylor was made todo this and with a Pug 205 mi16 your gonna make alot of new fans with this vid!!!!
What a little gem! Can’t wait for the next episode. This is still my dream car.

This is a superb video! Loved it!
I remember going in a 1.6 GTi when I was a teen, at the time it felt so fast, couldnt believe it when Taylor said it only had 105HP
Bucket list car that, especially with the engine swap. Can't wait to see more of it.
I love the 205 , I had one as my first car back in the 90s , I’ll little jelly you got such a cutie
Sound of that! Fookin love it! Well done Big T 🙂
I did a 2.0turbo out of a Citroen xm conversion on mine back in the 90’s nothing kept up with it was great fun

Yes boys!! I have a 205 rallye with a super rare 1.3 tu24 engine. Twin Weber 40s 👌👌
You are building an awesome collection 👏🏻
If you take the seat out it is on 4 black plastic spacers that you can remove to get a bit more headroom.
Them 405 mi 16, also come in 4x4. I used to own one. It wasn't fast at all but it could red line all day. I think that engine fits the 205 perfectly. Just not enough for the 405 especially 4x4.
We didnt realise how good we had it at the time when looking for 1st/2nd year driving cars we had choices like this, the 106 rallye and so many more
Auto Taylor v2 FTW
This content is so good, it should be on the main channel!
Ohhhhh I miss my old 205 XS. Absolutely fantastic car.
Watching Taylor drive this Peugeot was like the spark that most car reviewers lack
I had a Miami blue 1.6 gti I put a 1.9 mi16 lump with Kent cams on it i regret selling it massively
Regret selling mine also, such a well balanced car
Had one of these back in the day.
100% agree.
If you get one, the gear rod on mine was prone to disconnecting underneath the lever. The ball would just pop out of the ring.
Skip brown were the kings for this conversion back in the day.also keeping the 1.6 gearbox makes them do silly mph in gear 😁
Ahhhh the memories , I had a 1.6 when I was 18 back in the 90's ..... Good times!
Ive had the pleasure of owning a 309 GTi, you would love it as well. Prices are not as ridiculous as the 205 yet
