Don’t give up bud, keep posting! This RUclips algorithm sucks but you have the talent to be at the top. It’s just consistency and great content. I look forward to more videos. Cheers!
Question from me Jack well a subject rather than a question .....I thought it be nice for your followers to know how you learned to play what we're the stages in your development etc to get to where you are now ...we all know those of us that play to a reasonable standard how hard it is!!! Though it might be a nice video subject K
Jack Griffiths Hi Jack. I don’t think you need to worry about whether or not anyone will find it interesting. We’re all here because we appreciate your playing style and want to understand more about how you got there. However it’s packaged, you’ve a willing audience waiting.
Excellent comments on dynamics Jack. Also in my view it’s sometimes not what you play, it’s what you don’t play. Plus you’ve now got me gassing for a Fillmore, and I’m gonna have to dig out my Analogman chorus pedal....
I'm writing this while watching this episode on the old smart Tele and I'm 5 mins in on the Mayer section and it struck me that you talk so mature for your age. And a lot of stuff you say as. Player I've either felt or thought over the years. Stuff about Clapton and especially Alexander O Neal who I loved and agree with every word you said. Great singer great songs ...I loved his stuff. And he was almost just doing the cabaret circuit a few years ago. Sad really But yes Jack love your mature take on things music. And you play the way I love too hear too Loved this
I love to crank a 15 watter with a loud speaker in my apartment and then turn down the guitar. Something about feeling the power of the gain in a tiny room and the amp ready to jump out of it's skin, but held back. My neighbors would kill me if I let it loose lol (close to 120 db!). I agree about chorus adding something. I like vibe pedal on almost imperceptible swirl as a fattener.
Great stuff Jack, really enjoying these videos. As an old die-hard EC fan, seeing Eric play 'Sheriff' has always been something special. From the early gigs in the 70's to the present day, it's been interesting to hear the development of his approach with that song, particularly depending on the different line ups of the band at the time. He would always place it about 3rd song on his set, and it would usually be a gauge for how the rest of the show would pan out - if you got a tasty solo in 'Sheriff' it usually meant you were in for a great night .........remind me sometime to delve into the archive and dig out some for you. Right, so I now need to invest in a chorus pedal ;--)
Would you kindly talk about the Dr Z Remedy v Suhr badger 35... pros and cons to each? How they take Pedals, effects loop, how each boost sounds, clean up, what styles can they both cover? Etc etc if you had to take one out to a functions gig covering funk to classic rock with no pedals which one would you take?
Dynamics is a good shout... I need to break out of boring rut that I find myself in... I pick up the guitar and play the same things... now I’ll add some loud & soft... any other suggestions for rut busters? Cheers again Jack
Have always really enjoyed your playing demos at Peach. Love your approach. Was looking at a more recent post on your breakdown of how you approach Blues soloing. With your “Reactive” playing, are you mapping scales over the chord structure? If so, which ones? I have been practicing playing the appropriate major and minor Pentatonic scale over the change. Are you visualizing the scale on the finger board? Or, are you being lead by the sound/notes? Triads?
Great video as always Jack. Here is a video idea for you. I've always wondered with people like yourself and greg Koch what makes you pick a guitar. You work in a shop were you play pretty much every guitar on offer, right upto the top of the range stuff. I'd love you pick 3 of your favourite guitars you own and why you decided to go for them.
Terrific videos Jack. I’m really enjoying this stuff. I’d be very interested to hear any thoughts you have on the best approach/philosophy of practising and learning guitar. I guess there is no substitute for putting in the hours but have you found any route more productive than others? Also thanks for the tip about G.E. Smith. That song “Dusty Streets of Cairo” is superb!
Thanks Ian! That’s something I’ll try to cover more in the future, though I did give a couple of thoughts on that in one of the earlier episodes. Yes, it’s a bit of an ear worm!
Love your playing Jack, I made it here after discovering you from the peach videos. So glad you're making these videos mate, looking forward to many more of them. Can I be that annoying person and ask you about those chords at the beginning? I know you said e,d over f sharp , c then d but I can't quite get the voicings right. Is there major/ minor 7 / sus2 magic in there? I'm not expecting tabs and I generally have a good ear for voicings but I can't quite get them lol! As you said, that is looping paradise and I could play over that for hours 😂 Thanks in advance mate 🍻
Such tasteful phrasing and playing! Would love to keep on seeing more lessons from you man! Also, What're your thoughts about the new Two Notes Captor X compared to the Boss TAE or the Suhr Reactive Load IR? Does the Boss justify more than double to price of the X? I would go with the Suhr no problem, but I like the idea of having an attenuator to get the most out of my amps when I want to hear their actual speakers and not IRs. Cheers!
Thank you, Sir! The Two Notes is fantastic and if you’re after something just with Speaker sim and some useful attenuation, it’ll do the job very well. There’ll be a Peach demo coming soon 👍
@@jackgriffithsmusic Right on, thanks man! I'll keep an eye out for that Peach demo. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with your channel too! Cheers
5:00 Mayer is a good guitarist. But not great. Maybe for the RUclips "kids" but out in the real world if his name comes up real guitarist actually laugh. Jack...you are a better guitarist than Mayer....hell my next door neighbor who plays at the local pub would leave Mayer peeing his pants. We've come up listening to Gilmour, Beck, Kottke, Frampton, Allman, Betts, Trucks, Bonamassa, Carlton, Ford & hundreds more. Then along comes Mayer....uh...if anything he's set the bar really low. His playing is...average. I can see the RUclips kids wanting a guitar hero but Mayer is not it for me or any guitarist that I know.
IMHO, there can never be too much discussion of the inherent vocal qualities of electric guitar. Thank you! Without a doubt, my favorite video so far!

Thanks Jason, I appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing your stuff, too.
I knew I recognised it. Great summer vibe, and I loved what you did with it x
For me Clapton at its electric best are: “White Room”, “Pretending”, “Watch yourself”, from the album “24 Nights” at the Royal Albert Hall. 🤩
Beautiful phrasing and dynamics !
Thank you!
I think my ‘Lonestar’ Strat (very similar colour to your Suhr there) is about to get a tortoise shell guard...

Yes I certainly will do that at some point, though I’ve got to make sure it’s interesting enough!

Thanks Steve - yes, it is indeed. I try and shut up as much as I can nowadays! The Fillmore is superb 👌
his voice has the same tone of Bonamassa's tone voice but more quiet...great playing and explanition
Mate it will be interesting to anyone aspiring to be to a good standard. Your story im sure is interesting to any young players out there.
Great video Jack! These videos are awesome man. I think you may have influenced me to do my own. :) looking forward to the next.
Cheers!
Cheers Jason, I’d like to see what you’d come up with!
greatvideo. Beatiful progression but I cant figure out those chord-voicings

Writing on my mobile I meant
Thanks Keith, I appreciate the nice comments and support, hope you’re keeping well!

Nicely done!

Thanks Chris! Listening to the phrasing and note choice of a master on a different instrument is always useful - including vocalists!

Triads?
Can you talk about how to get a precise technique like yours?
Can you give your entire signal chain here? Love the tone at the end with the duelist
Thanks! It was pretty much the Duellist, the Analogman chorus, delay from the Strymon Timeline and the Boogie Fillmore 50 amp 👍

Good idea David, I might just do that!
Simply Red did a few of those great jamming grooves too

Please adjust the camera angle to focus on your guitar better. Thank you for these lessons I probably couldn't afford otherwise.
Cheers Scott, yep I’ll be more mindful of that in the future!
”Griffiths is God” 🤩👍
Gorgeous phrasing 👌 If you had £3000 to buy one guitar from Peach guitars, which one would you go for?
Emotional playing

I don't think Buckethead gets enough credit when it comes to dynamics. The album Colma is a masterpiece.

Got it analog Man by Cora sounds great really cool sound ! Chops and tone !
It’s actually the Bi-Chorus by AnalogMan :) sorry I didn’t make it that clear in the video. Cheers!
No you did I missed it , I sounds great!
first like the video then enjoy the content!
