Hey Jack, I’ve really been binging your content lately and am sad to see only on episode is released after this one! Hopefully you feel like making more in the future because they’re so insightful. Speaking of your own style, I think a few episodes back when you were talking about “reactive blues” I think you called it. To my ear that’s what you’re best at stylistically. Like having an internal musical idea and expressing it so effectively and also using melodies and arpeggios that imply chord progressions. It’s like a modern impressionist rock style that’s so organic and refreshing to listen to as explained by so many supportive commenters. You’re defs one of my favourite guitarist and easily the most listenable I’ve heard without getting guitar fatigue. Keep it up man I look forward to many more vids from you ❤️
I've had a desire to write again. I miss the air that used to be in music, so it's my plan to make music that has lots of musical interludes, more texture and less vocals. Think folks like Mark Knopfler meets Tears for Fears, with a fraction of the talent.
Happy 2021 Jack, glad you will be focusing on music and not only on gear, it’s always interesting to hear your influences, views and about music that you enjoy. Also you don’t ramble on, just keeping providing these great videos just the way you are. After the PRS Double Neck Video on the Peach Channel I hope Mrs Paul Reed Smith sends you a guitar, you deserve it!
Nice Video👍i like your playing so much. More playing than buying gear is my motto for this year too. I also have the alt T and have sometimes problems with the high frets because im pressing the strings too hard and bringing the note out of tune.I have to learn playing softer😁
Super Cool Jack, I love me a lovely Tele or T-Style guitar. It’s a gem my friend, indeed, enjoy that. I’m diggin’ the hairdo, too. My goal is add a 4th Tele to my collection. I have my eyes on a Custom Shop 55 style Fender Tele.
2021 gear goal number 1 has been fulfilled- I have a Suhr Badger 30 arriving soon! (Inspired by your high praise and playing through the Badger 35) which will be me done for big purchases for a fair while! Playing wise my goals are to get my playing to feel more fluid, and to learn more things that inspire me
I think I gotta focus more on melodic ideas instead of "riffage". I've already started to work on that, but definitely pushing it this year. Love your idea of simplifying things/gear, etc. Cheers man !
I'm always impressed how yourself and Pete Honore are able to project your own musical personalities while demoing so much gear... to my ears you always sound like you Jack! As for 2021 how about a JG signature guitar?...
I like your plans for this year Jack and really looking forward to seeing more videos from you this year. Have you thought about creating some of your own jam tracks and doing some videos of you playing along to them? We're all really enjoying hearing you play! I too have recently got hold of a HX stomp, I was previously using a Metro Amp 100w plexi with the UA ox box with my band. Loving having a smaller setup, still sounds great, can't wait to get back out gigging again now!
Great playing, as always. One thing you should do more -i mean it seriously- is something related to a some kind of interview form because you're so fluent at it. - I've seen you interview people at namm for Peach and you asked interesting questions, beyond the obvious. Start with Dan and Mick from TPS, Rabea, Josh, Zack from Mythos (he loves your playing!), Rhett, JHS, Wampler,... and get all those people to talk something further than what they talk on their channel. Something like what Josh Smith does in his channel. My project for 2021 is to master my new HX Stomp and record with it. A lot. Something good will come from it. Also, new wiring/pickups for my Fender Meteora HH. - Maybe a Reverend wiring with a bass contour... do you know how it works? I don't! Best from Barcelona and happy new year
Thanks Marti - it's been an absolute pleasure to get to interview some very cool people, so I hope to be able to carry that on in the future! Glad you enjoy them. Best of luck with the gear!
My aim is to be a better guitarist and songwriter like you mentioned Jack it's good to reflect!... I use a Katana 50 it does everything l need... Pedals occasionally but in my opinion nothing better than just plugging straight into the amp and see what happens!☺
I’ve fallen into a bit of a soloing rut, I think I need to focus more on chords and inversions than the single note stuff. I must say I’m always blown away by your musical vocabulary, whenever you play it always sounds fresh and exciting and you rarely seem to regurgitate the same old stuff which I think many players are guilty of. My band sadly seems to have dissolved with both lock down and some of the members being in their 60s so ideally I would love to find some new people to play with to spark some new ideas 👍
Would really like to see your video on hx setup. I own amps without effects loops and don't think I would benefit from hx today. I'd like to see how you are using your stomp and what pieces are required. Thanks.
Jack, I have the same Suhr Alt t pro....really great axe!! how do you clean pickups covers and saddles to remove the finish tarnish? Thanks and stay safe! Cheers
I’m trying to learn jazz chords and rhythms, they’re mostly inversions. But it’s just off the wall enough for me to put the guitar down and walk away. Of course I need to learn it, but sometimes learning is the least fun you’ve ever had with guitar. I have a better time with 5ths (power chords) and some distortion. I would rather just be my old self. Those are some great bends, I should learn them... oh wait... 😜
@@joeygentile7829 Thanks Joe: It’s a great sounding and versatile guitar. I asked because I tried one with a slim and wide neck I could not play. I also tried a fat that was a bit large. My comfort zone is ‘86 to ‘96 (1st to 12th fret). I suppose the medium is ‘83 to ‘94 per Suhr’s specs. When one invests in a guitar like that, it better be perfect ! 😉
I hear you about the playing vs gear, but the gear on display has to be addressed (which it has via various other videos but must be found in various places) because the first thing people think is 'why has he chosen the Badger?' or 'When do you choose that amp, over that amp?' etc And the best way I can think of to move away from the gear is to always use the same setup, like David Brewster's Late Night Lessons channel (which I think you plan to do) or just do one video that addresses all the gear in the background and then refuse to talk about it any more! Look forward to your channel in 2021!
Can I pay you to transcribe or make a video showing more closely how you play something in one of your peach videos? It really spoke to me and made me want to pick up my tele. I'd like to use it to get back into things and learn a bit of music theory. Thanks!
I want to become a better player, learn new songs and push my RUclips channel :) i want to step back from gear as well.. focus on playing is better time spent. :) please do a collection video before you focus on your playing haha
Happy new year Jack! We need to see your guitar collection! ITS time!
Second that!!
Amps & pedals too!

Sounds good to me - love Tears for Fears!
Go for it! You’re probably better than you give yourself credit!
It’s called “specialisation” :) Always nice to watch you play. Cheers
Always enjoyable hearing you play Jack. No matter what you're playing, it's alway spectacular !!!
Thank you Timothy!
Smashing it dude, looking forward to following the channel. Some form of Tele with “it” for me this year!! Just gotta find it...

Nice thoughts, I have to agree about missing gigs. It really has been a long time!
Good stuff ! Love that alt t!
Thats a beautiful Tele

🤘
2020. Got the gear upgraded.
2021 need to get my show started to gig and pay for the gear upgrade of 2020 😁🎸

Thanks Michael - I'll get working on a video of the new setup as soon as it's finished!
How's that Boss Katana head behind you? Gear goals thinking of getting a mashall dsl40cr......or a katana 🤔
The Katana is excellent, you won’t be disappointed!
Jack I love that guitar was thinking of getting one what do you think ?
Honestly one of the best electric purchases you can make!
Jack, I have the same Suhr Alt t pro....really great axe!! how do you clean pickups covers and saddles to remove the finish tarnish? Thanks and stay safe! Cheers
They are great indeed! I gave up trying to clean mine ages ago, letting the elements doing their thing now!

Lovely guitar this Alt T: what is its neck profile ?
It has a medium C neck. He did a great review of the guitar for Peach about 2 years ago.

What is the intro riff from? Sounds amazing!!
Thank you, it’s just improv though!
i want to see that 335 again...knowing how much you love Les Pauls; do you pick 335 or LP?
Fear not, it'll be back! Too hard to choose...
Is that an Alt T Pro with Thornbuckers? Or Alt T with SSVs?
Thornbuckers 👍

Thanks Austin, really glad the video inspired you to play! Which one was it?
@@jackgriffithsmusic it was the demo of the Z Wreck jr. Thanks for the reply!
You’re a real peach, bud.
If I was in the Dire Straits tribute band now, I’d have to switch to a Kemper.....
Real nice opener. Could you just write down those chords?

You want to play more like 'you', and I want to be able to play like you.
Thanks David!
