- Hey folks! As the LIONEL Sep ‘24 tour draws to a close, I wanted to offer a quick insight in to the live rig I’ve been using for the show, over the last 5+ years at this point. Hopefully this answers some of your questions, and if there’s anything else you’d like to know, just drop a comment below!
Cheers 👍
Miss you on RUclips, your playing is sublime!
Hi Jack - would be really interetsing to know which amp models and IRs you are finding good to use on the gigs with Lionel?
I would love to know this as well. That clean tone sounds fantastic.
I'll cover that in more detail in another video :)
Great setup! I do miss hearing you play gear demo's...
I dig the Fiore. Jack, you may not desire being a RUclipsr, but I really love your playing and the videos you make are always interesting and worth a watch.
I appreciate that, thanks!
Jack and Greg Koch , best two guitarists on the planet imho . Raw talent.
Great rig. Maybe it would be nice to look the signal chain layout in Helix? Are U turning Koko boost via midi?
I'll do a deeper dive at some point. The Koko is controlled via the 'ext amp' jack on Helix, with a 2.5mm to 1/4" TRS converter cable. You then assign either the tip or ring function, which gives either the clean or mid boost, to one of the Helix foot switches via command centre. :)
First time i've heard someone control the mix of a single pedal with a modeler, really clever
jack griffiths band anyone ?
+1 for interest in hearing what amp models you are using for the gig. Would you ever consider putting some patches up for download or purchase?
I agree - I'd love to get hold of those patches.
Thanks guys - I'll make another video talking about the amp choices some time.
@@jackgriffithsmusic Cheers Jack. Much appreciated.
are redwings also obligatory ?
No, but they do make each stomp a joyous thing!
Great rig Dude 👌
Sweet setup. All of this is for convenience and reliability - I’m sure Jack could easily get through the gig with a few pedals and a Maz18.
Great to see a live rig rundown from you! Thanks, Jack!
Good video. Nice to see you posting. Congratulation on getting a great gig with one of the all time greats. What an amazing experience that must be. PS. Gladio tone was phenomenal.
Excellent presentation ! Thank you
Good to see you. I wondered why you weren’t doing videos at Peach. Enjoy your new venture (no pun intended). 😊
In a sea of rig rundowns I found this one really inspiring, thank you.
The times I have heard a Gitarist say "I'm done" 😂Great Rig !
Congratulations on your success!
Nice Jack. Thanks. 😊
he’s back!
👌
Great ... which amp models do you use ... :)
Maybe another video... :)
❤
Hey Jack, great video! How do you level out the volume differences between presets? I find myself constantly switching back and forth to figure out "by ear" how loud I perceive one to be vs another. It's become really tedious.
Establish the volume variables within your signal chain. When you know that you can set a baseline volume level on the "fixed" part, so per patch you only need to worry about the variables.
Ex. People disable the volume knob in the helix so they have consistent volume across patches.
Good question - I've dialled levels in mostly by ear, watching the levels on my DAW as I'm playing it, and feedback from FOH after the show. As I'm only using each preset for one song in the set, I'm only ever playing the same parts with that particular sound, so it's easier to identify. Unless it feels wrong while you're playing, then it isn't. Hope that helps!
Hey Jack! Great to see you. We miss seeing you regularly. Question… do you still have your Mesa Boogie Fillmore? If so, how do you find it to be with drives in the clean channel? I just got a Fillmore 100 and am still trying to get the highs and lows tamed.
Hope to see more of you and wish you all the best in your career!
I do, and it's one of my favourite amps! I only ever use it clean with drive pedals, and I think it works great. You just have to watch the balance between the preamp gain and midrange controls. It's a very sensitive amp. Good luck!
@@jackgriffithsmusic Good to hesr Jack. I’m doing the sage as you… using the clear channel and using oedaus for my gain staging. I think what I’m having a little trouble getting right is
The most sensible rig on RUclips
Haha, sensible/boring is alright by me!
Your rig sounds stellar.
Cheers!
Tell me about that pick. Ultex?
I’m using Ultex Jazz III XLs and Herco Flex 75s 👌
@@jackgriffithsmusic The tl;dr is, the plectrum rabbithole is deep.
As a fellow Page enthusiast it's criminal I haven't tried the Hercos, but I have nylons in the form of wedgie 1.0 and have recently discovered the Ultex flow 1.0 and Tortex flow 1.0 respectively, for different guitars. But my favorite is Wegen picks, his Twin 2.5 omg so fast and accurate, but it sounds like crap on some guitars so the search continues lol Ernie Ball Prodigy 2.0 with some sanding down, can feel like the expensive wegens, but it still sounds wrong on some stuff ARRRRRGH! I have a whole array of different materials and thicknesses laid out into an organized arrangement and labeled and categorized LOL Save me!
Has two ....Heli? Helixes? lol Still worries about dsp.
No, there's clearly only one Helix in the rig...
@@dave8832 Is that just the controller on the floor? My mistake.
Yep, just to clarify - only the one Helix here! The floorboard is just an external controller.
Man, you're one letter away from being named Back.
Also one letter away from Cack and two letters away from Quack
Better than Sack!
But after demoing so many tube amps you'll go back to them, like 99% of good guitarists😁
Absolutely - under the right circumstances, I still use tube amps a ton. But not on this show!
