Bryce Da Devil Yeah I got it! I’m so pleased with it. Killer tone and tiny and easy to carry with you! I was looking for a little smaller amp. I got some heads and cabs, Marshall and orange, when I play with different bands. They are pretty stationary. Don’t want to move those around too much! I was also using a Vox AC30 that I could carry with me to jam with another band and like home use. AC30s weighs a TON! Beautiful tone but omg its so heavy. So the little orange 35RT amp was just right for me! I will definitely recommend it to people that want killer tone in a small practice amp that also has the guts to rock with a drum kit. 🤘

Thank you for this excellent and even handed, head-to-head demo on the Orange Crush 20RT vs 35RT. This confirms exactly what I thought might be the case between the two - it's really a comparison between 8 inch vs 10 inch Voice of the World speakers with a dash of cabinet housing dimensions. Yes, there is a 15 watt difference between the solid state amp boards but my understanding is that, in terms of loudness measured in decibels, 15 watts is not that drastic. I'm not sure if 15 watts difference is measurable in subtle sonic tones either. The only way to truly know that is to have both combo's use 10 inch speakers.
I personally like to play on amps that have plenty of low end, ball busting British growl (like Marshall without spending $$$) and that's where the Orange Crush 35RT won the contest for me. That and the fact that the 35RT is the only Crush model to offer the FX Loop between Pre & Post Amp circuits. BTW, I had already purchased a new 35RT and it arrived today (Friday) so my weekend will be sitting in front of that until my fingers bleed :o)

    • @RockHardRiffs

Just a hobby player; but I will say this; I have 2 LT25 Mustangs; I had an id core blackstar; and sold it; I had the 35 Orange; for bedroom play it was waaaaay too much power; don't go over 20 watts for your hobby/practice speaker; if you're just going to be a hobbyist get the LT25 or an id core; you don't need all those pedals everything is built into the practice amp. All those pedals cost 7 times more than amp itself. Just get the all in one amp if you're just starting out; Find the effects and amp models that you like; and if you get into one or two; and you get good enough to justify the cost; buy the model that you like the most out of the samples.

I have the 20w and the truth is that i regret not having bought the 35 at the time. the amp responds very well to playing dynamics, you can go to clean only playing softer. The only problem is the size of the speaker. It sounds a bit "in a box", as seen in the video. So im between the question of the 35RT or micro terror with a cabinet of 12 speaker

Bought the 20rt a week ago. I too noticed the amp's responsiveness. My old amp is a Fender Frontman 10g, which was... let's say it was a mistake.
I got into a band last year, and I ended up ditching it (even for practice) in favour of my laptop running Guitar Rig, which let me keep control over my tones and effects. We run on shoestring budgets here in Sri Lanka, where you'll often find guitarists running a single multi-effect unit straight into the mixer (yes, no amp).
But yeah, that setup is a real hassle, especially when it comes to practicing and monitoring yourself in a live setting. Also, Guitar Rig's big amp collection can really lead to sounding like you have an identity crisis. I feel like that's a problem you can run into with modelling amp's as well. I mean, I do like to get shoegaze-levels of trippy with effects, but I feel an actual physical amp that you can learn the ins and outs of is integral to keeping your sound grounded. I still plan on using Guitar Rig as my effects platform for now though.

There are videos on RUclips that show how to install a DIY speaker output jack to these amps so you can connect to a bigger, better speaker cabinet. Thinking about doing that to my Crush 20. (The only thing I can't decide is if I should do that first, or get another amp I've been wanting first. Don't have the money for both.) But either way I am going to install one so I can connect mine to a cabinet with a 12" celestion (or maybe a 2x12; not sure yet.)

Excelent demo! I tested this amp yesterday and I really liked the clean, it's simply great. On the dirty channel, with the gain set to high, I found the tone too fuzzy. I know this is the authentic Orange tone, but it's too much for me, especially on the lead parts (to be honest, the rhythm sounded great). Any ideas on how to achieve a non-fuzzy high-gain lead tone? Thanks in advance.

Hi Barbu. The speaker in these amps tend to need to be "broken in"....meaning they may sound a bit fuzzy, but after you use it for a while, that fuzzy sound should not be so prominent. If you have a favorite distortion/OD pedal, try that through the clean channel. Thanks for watching!

The 20 is a lot more boxes thus making it a much better candidate as a home practice so rather than a band practice or gigging (I don’t think anyone would gig with the 20 without a specific goal) so unless you’re trying to sound boxy I don’t think the 20 will be a good idea in a band context, - it’s not a bad amp I can think of uses for it and in general boxy type amps are great for shoegazing or grunge gazing but that’s my personal opinion..
The 35 has a much stronger presence and a lot more depth than the 20, for playing in a band practice I’d say the 35 is a greater option,
I might be bias because I already have a Marshall mg10 and I practice with it daily and when I started playing with a drummer it doesn’t keep up, I was at the store today and tried the 35, I am an inch away from getting it.
