Although I prefer the live version, there is something super haunting about this version, The Warning have mastered the art of harmony vocals!

Very much haunting. I love this video, but like a live version a bit better. I like seeing Ale go.off on the live version. Her bass is much more intense live.

It took them a while to work out the live version during the Mayday tour. I saw them four times and you could see them trying different things. Obviously they nailed it.

Actually they have put Alesia’s voice on a backing track to fill out their harmonies “live”! They always introduce this song “with” Alesia Cara” when announcing this song at their concerts!😊⚡️

This version of the song rocks! They did such a great job of restructuring this track. The buildups are immaculate, the harmonies are fantastic & then they kick you in the teeth with the original riff at the end. Perfection! ❤

IMO This is better once they put Alessia Cara to the fills (like at Theatro), not because Alessia is bad but because Dany's vocals pull the song back into it's harder roots. The 'Cara' fills are great though.

Just a matter of perception but I feel that, while Metallica's version is pressing you to run from the nightmare, these ladies are trying to pull you into it... Weird feeling that I dig A LOT ! Love The Warning !

"Heavenly Fury" - great way to describe these ladies and their music! I love how they re-arranged this it to make it their own, amazing how they put this all together in just 10 days!

This version has the vocal harmonies from all four of them during that three round build-up that you can't practically do in concert without Alessia. The Teatro version changes that up giving it a harder edge. And there's yet one more version you need to check out. For their tenth anniversary show they brought out a string section (2 cellos and 8 violins) for a couple of songs, this being one of them. At the moment there's only fan shot video but if you can wait, the concert was professionally filmed like Teatro and someday they will likely start releasing it. Probably late this year after the fervor of the new album release has died down, they'll hit us with this concert.

There's something about those chords at 6:58 as they build up to the outro. The only way I can describe it, is they seem to project resignation and inevitability as feelings for me. I'm finally being dragged into the darkness and their is no return as the outro blasts in. Masterful version by The Warning.

They have performed this once live with Alessia (it was a surprise appearance for the audience) at the Troubadour in LA a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, there are only fan cam videos of that performance. 😎👍

This is still my favorite version. Most will say they prefer the harder sound of the CDMX live version. I prefer Alessia's softer vocals at the beginning, Pau doing the creepy prayer rather than Dany growling her way through it, and the backing harmonies which are more prevalent in this version than in the live version. In my opinion, this is a better contrast to the original song as opposed to the CDMX one, which seeks to be harder and closer to the original with growly Dany channeling Hetfield.

Sometimes the OMV is the way to go. There’s so much visual coolness going on here. The video is a piece of art. Then there’s all the little trivia lore, like the place being home to a colony of bats. There is a frame early on that has a bat swooping through but you have to slow it way down. (Don’t bother looking it’s gone in a millisecond. But still creepy cool.)

Hey, Zack, thanks for another great reaction! Between the two recent versions, I love them both. Like the harder edge of the live version, but the “Hush, little, baby…” harmonies are other worldly haunting and beautiful.
One thing to look at: see the room where they play the closing riff in half time? It reminds me of the Warning Cave at their home where they did the original cover. Same room shape and setup…I think that was interesting and intentional.
See you on the next one…thx!

I got to see the ONE TIME that Alessia joined DP&A for "Enter Sandman" on stage (Troubadour in LA), and it was a blast. I love TWA's take on this song, that each of these versions differ from each other significantly, to the point that they're different songs.

Yes, Ale has grown since the first video where her bass was as big as she was tall. I saw a RUclips short or one of their short videos where they were goofing off, Dany walked over to Ale's mic and could stand under it. She asked her how tall she was, 5'9", I believe, Dany is 5'3", and Pau said, "Keep me out of this", she's around 5', 5'1".

  • @oregonlt3
    @oregonlt3 7 месяцев назад +1

Yes. I’ll never say ones better than the other they’re both perfect for where they’re used. But I love Pau doing the prayer and how they incorporated Alessia as a projection (it was the pandemic so it was their only, choice) kind of like the creepy sandman floating thru the halls. It’s what’s great about The Warning. They are always tweaking and improving
I’ll reserve favorite status for when we get a professional recording of them doing their live-version with strings or full orchestral backing. That will definitely be “The Best”

Friday is Dany Day. Saturday is Pau Day. Sunday is Ale Day. So happy Ale Day. Track 1 on Metallica's BlackList album. The Warning and Alessia wrote and recorded his together in about 7 days, barely in time to submit it for the album. I think the video shoot came later. Alessia was in Canada while The Warning was in Mexico and they could not get together because of Covid.

I think it might be called "kill the silence". Three of the songs on the album are about wanting more out of life and out of relationships. S!CK, HYCAD and MORE.

Happy Ale Day...At the time of making this, Covid was a new problem. Because of travel restrictions the girls worked it out from different countries..I believe ....Alessia's Projections is brilliant.. her voice is perfect...the whole thing is just genius...off subject...I love Pau's long hair.....✌️

A couple of good back stories for this video. First Dany tells how it was kind of scary at first. They filmed it at a burnt out factory near their home and it was full of bats. It took about 2 hours and they became friends and then all was good. I don't remember if it was Pau or Ale who told the story about when they all stepped out of rooms into the doorways and they were all glad to have made it. The doorways were to the factories bathrooms and they had been closed for years with no ventilation, it was bad.

Welcome back. Loved your analysis. Although I love the live version, I think I enjoy the studio version more. I think they found it more seamless to have Dany do speaking part live, but I love the chilling voice of Pau during that part in the studio version.

Ale is about 5' 7" Dany is about 5"2" Pau is 5' flat. There are a couple of videos on RUclips where Dany will stand next to Ale's mic. The older one it is about at her nose. That one Ale and Pau are there, and Pau is saying from behind the drums "I'm glad I'm stuck behind the drums." Dany is like "You can come out here." Pau: "I will NOT come out there and compare heights." Then she is like "Look see how tall I am?" She's kneeling on her drum stool. The newer video it's just Dany, and Ale's mic is at Dany's forehead. One concert Q&A They ask "If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?" Pau's answer is "Eat more fruit, Ale gonna be taller than you." She hates being short. I think it's cool. Course I'm bias. My wife is 4'9" (Filipina)

I like this and the live version equally, for different reasons. The Warning worked with Alessia over the Internet during Covid lockdown. That's why she's a projected apparition on the wall of the abandoned textile mill where they filmed this. This is the creepier version. The live version at Teatro Metropolitan is harder and darker. Dany is more demonic with the prayer in the live version than Pau is here. Pau looks and sounds a lot like Wednesday, one of the Addams Family characters, here! Many reactors are creeped out by that. This arrangement and video had to be done in about a week. I think it's brilliant, because it turns the song into a creepy lullaby story. That build-up with The Warning in three doorways and Alessia's projection over them is just awesome. Alessia did a live version with The Warning at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, in May of 2022. The video is on The Warning channel. Audio is pretty awful on it, but it looks like it was a fun concert.

All good we knew what you meant. At least your not recording live, I've heard some unfortunate phrases on lives.
I have a theory that Metallica are time travelers and their version is a cover of The Warnings. Not sure if I'm right but it makes sense. Well aside from the whole time travel thing.
