- Montée impossible of Arette is back with a great Impossible Hill Climb event, at the heart of Pyrenees in France.
Impossible climb of Arette remains an incredible challenge for riders who dare attack it. Rarely reached, the summit refuses most of them, with a slope between 70 and 82% and jumpy sections, it is not so easy to cover the 230 meters of the hill of La Mouline.
With Prototype Monster Dirt Bikes, Superbike engines combined with motocross and enduro modified frames to create Monsters for hillclimbing, over 1000cc, with Nitro and spiked-wheels.
The goal is simple: get as high as possible, as fast as possible. Each competitor had 4 chances and whoever reach the top faster or covers the most gets the trophy.

I don’t think most arm chair folks in this comment section realize exactly how steep this hill is. If someone who rides like this has taken the time to build a frankenbike to take it on, they are well aware of what they’re up against.

Anyone who is a downhill skier knows exactly what they are dealing with! Clearly, some of these bikes don't have the necessary power. But it's not just about horsepower - it's finesse, strategy and skill! Much respect to these fellows!

Seek control in power delivery and good traction to apply technique, double blip, splatter, wheelie... How do you imagine a 37" Roctane T4 tire on the rear, would it work? 🚜😱
That crosses my mind with every hill climb video I watch. I believe good trials riders, with well set up, modified, trials bikes, with extended rear swing arms, and the right tires, mainly, would surprise a lot of people on hills like this. Anyone who has riding experience, of any kind, and has watched trials riding, knows how unbelievable some of the stuff they can ride over is. Balance, riding skills, different from hill climbers, lower gearing on the bikes, instead of very difficult to control raw horsepower, would definitely be interesting to watch, for a while, anyway. The high HP, balls to the wall, riding, is what people like to see, for the most part, however, even if nobody makes it to the top.
You’ll hear this crap from time to time but they never show up and put in a run.

watching and having over 50 years' experience ridding off road. These bikes are overpowered with way too much traction. Less HP and a little less traction might just win the day. Either they gain traction and flip over or lose momentum and stall out. Too much motor and not enough slip. A little less traction might go a long way with the right rider. Some seem to jump off in fear. Maybe the hills are just unclimbable. I never feel a hill can't be concurred. With proper technique and set up. Fun as hell to watch. Thanks a bunch to the brave ridders.

considering the instant torque an e motorcycle has , i wonder how it would do on hill climbing.
E bikes are a lot heavy and less powerful. The gears are so short on these bikes they pretty much have instant torque.
@@aidsface less powerful? If anything they would be more powerful, It wouldn't stall and no gears/clutch to mess with! But the weight would probably be their defeat... for now

Dans le genre débile, on ne fait pas de compète plus débile, et il faut être un peu débile pour aller risquer ses os sur une telle montée... mais du point de vue des concurrents c'est une aventure mécanique très pointue (et très onéreuse), pas débile du tout et qui exige une grande force mentale.
Personne n'arrive au sommet, tous ruinent leurs machines et la récompense est une coupe à 10€ et une poignée de main pour celui qui est allé le plus haut.
Personne ne s'étonnera que ce type de compète ait été inventée par les Américains.

How heavy are the bikes?
160 kg for the 1000cc 2 strokes bimotor, the 4 strokes around 180-190 kg 💪💪

What is the physics benefit of the elongated rear end? Im sure it has a benefit... But i am not sure what that is.

the French do not make tracks for beginners do they, and every track has these insane ditches across the track 🤣
I think the track started without ditches but as the bikes climb it over and over they create the trenches with their spiked up rear tires.

These bikes are stretched to long, that extended swinger is such a disadvantage. The first real dirt bike without an extended swing arm will succeed.
Right, the pro riders who are dedicated to winning are stupid and should ride a 50cc GSXR.
I think the same, some bikes are too long for these steps, the bikes get stuck on incline changes, although it helps on other tracks. The minimum for prototypes is 1700 mm between axles
