Armed thieves target Southern California family in 'dinnertime burglary'

- Security video captured a home being targeted amid a troubling uptick of “dinnertime burglaries” across San Fernando Valley communities. A Granada Hills home on Wood Ranch Road was targeted Wednesday night where thieves escaped with around $150,000 worth of valuables.
Several cases were recently reported where intruders broke into homes between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. - a time when people are believed to be out to dinner. The homeowner said he received a motion alert on his phone from a baby monitor showing four armed thieves breaking into his house and ransacking the interior.

$150K is certainly no small sum of money. However, having $150K worth of valuables at home is not that unimaginable. A fancy watch cost anywhere from $20k to 150K. $20k Stainless steel Rolex, $120k stainless steel Patek. A standard Hermes Birkin bag starts from $20k and can go to half a mil. SLR/Rangefinder camera with a few lens cost around $20k. A few nice things in the house can easily surpass $150k.

I have useful things all over my house. Have some useful things within reach or on you at all times. Also, LA County has now loosened requirements on CCW permits so you can carry useful things outside of your home. We as citizens allow criminals to continue being criminals by being easy victims.
