- Video captured a woman clinging to the hood of a speeding car as thieves stole her French bulldog puppy in downtown Los Angeles. The theft happened on Jan. 18 as the dog's owner, Ali Zacharias, was enjoying lunch with her dog, Onyx, at a Whole Foods located on Grand Avenue and 8th Street at around 2:30 p.m.
Onyx was sitting underneath Zacharias’ chair. Suddenly, an unknown woman grabs the dog's leash and walks outside to a getaway car. Video of the incident shows the victim clinging tightly onto the suspects' car hood as they drove off with her dog at a high rate of speed. "It was horrifying,” Zacharias recalled. “As he started to go faster and faster I'm like, 'I'm about to die. This is my death. Right now. I'm about to die.’”

However, I do wonder what the parameters or ethics are or should be for those who believe in "claiming" private property especially when: 1) said "property" is also another sentient being (I doubt they're liberating this puppy to a life of non-domestication) and 2) whether we can responsibly assume that this was a crime of economic desperation. I always think of the rich shoplifters like what'shername (was it the Barrymore girl or Wynona Ryder or some other petite white female celeb?) Why you should leave your dog at home. I don’t take my cat out. I don’t take my pet tarantula out. I don’t take my pet boa constrictor out when I go to eat at the restaurant or go to Home Depot. @@eddiefniiiDogs are typically larger animals that need a lot of exercise and they don’t use litter boxes like cats so that’s not very practical. I’ve never owned a dog and I know this (as a cat owner). Dogs need a lot of time and care and to be walked. They can’t be locked up inside!
This was also in LA… if the owner lives in an apartment/condo (highly likely), hell even a HOUSE (so many homes don’t have yards in California)… she would need to take her dog out to walk it a few times a day. The real issue is why the hell are people stealing pets and kids and what the heck is wrong with the world?!

@zacharypeery4082 Adopting from a shelter isn't for everyone, and it's completely ignorant to think so. Not everyone wants to deal with some of the issues dogs have from there. Many are older and already set in their ways and if you want a specific breed because their traits fit your lifestyle it's difficult to find the right dog at whatever age you would prefer. Some people have the time and willpower to work with a shelter dog, and that's for those people. There are responsible breeders out there, and to assume that she just went to some "back yard breeder" is foolish. You know nothing about this woman. None of this changes the fact that that dog was her family and she's heartbroken. Your comment was extremely cold-hearted and nasty. You sound like one of those crazy animal people who think they know better than everyone else when it comes to anything to do with animals. 🙄
