- Residents are concerned as a troubling uptick in “dinnertime burglaries” appears to be targeting communities in the San Fernando Valley.
Three cases were recently reported where intruders broke into homes between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. - a typical dinnertime hour. In at least two cases, residents were still home at the time. Neighbors in the area are concerned about the troubling trend.
KTLA's John Fenoglio reports on Nov. 17, 2023.

The man who was attacked from behind, was ready/armed and able to defend his life. I am Grateful.
The man in his home with 15 cameras, an alarm system and was put on hold for 45 minutes after calling 911, pushed to the non-emergency line is unacceptable…I am grateful he was able to defend himself.
No. This is not "unacceptable." Unacceptable is when you are at the grocery and pick up a bruised piece of fruit. This is criminal, and I am not referring to those who are breaking in and putting you and families at risk. It is criminal that politicians, who are suppose to represent the "citizens" of California, have let safety deteriorate to this level.

The worst part is this type of crime has hit pandemic levels because the courts say there aren't enough jail cells to hold them all, yet there is always plenty of space to jail the homeowners who fight back.
This is it ppl, no one to call and no one to help you. We now have to protect ourselves at all costs, no cops to come help, no jail cells to house the criminals, and no consequences for the criminals. These aren’t “burglaries.” These are home invasions. In burglaries, the crooks come in when they know you’re not home to rob your place. In home invasions, they know you’re home and come in, anyway. In the worst case, they WANT you to be home. Extremely dangerous.

He should have never chased after them, potentially exposing himself to gunfire. He had cover inside his home

He possibly made the correct tactical decision when he sought more mobile cover than a dead end hallway. Possibly he should not have returned fire, yet I cant really blame him for doing so.
The problem is right there: LA PD don't respond.

That’s California My Friend… It’s not an emergency in their thinking until the victim is already dead or if the perpetrators get hurt in any way. Then the victim has to go through a process of jumping through hoops and over all kinds of hurdles to prove their right for self defense in their own home; and their right to continue living a normal and peaceful life without being physically assaulted or burglarized. *Just unlock your doors, invite them in and hopefully they will get what they want and leave without harming anyone in the home.
The man who was attacked from behind ... still got charges for chasing the robbers inside his home
A home security system is not an end all, be all solution. It is just one "deterrent". You need to have "layers" of security. Fenced off yard/property, Cameras, Security system, reinforced door latches and deadbolts, firearm(s) and training for you and anyone you live with and a plan. Having a secondary mobile phone would not be a bad idea either. If you have replaced mobile phones for newer/faster models, keep the old phone around. I believe you can dial 911 on a mobile phone even if you don't have it signed up for normal service with a carrier.
Exactly especially when the criminals aren’t deterred by being caught on camera clear as day. I have a few old flip phone around for that exact reason.
You forgot dogs
You need to go get them first.
I can never understand why you can have a fence with a six foot height limit. From that video, Someone can climb over a six foot fence too easily. The law should allow you to go 7 foot at least.
LAPD has become a laughingstock.
They have been since Rodney king.
@@massivemindmeatno they actually kept us safe back then. Now woke DAs tie their hands and let Ns run wild.
wow nobody gonna say anything but the real crime here? what's the purpose of a 911 call?
The police are not doing their job. This is been happening for a long time!. Now you have to take matters into your own hands and protect your family at all costs. 💯🤨
They are though but there’s only so many people to respond and DA doesn’t prosecute
All of this is getting out of hands🤬
It's been out of hand for several years.
The amount of times I've been on hold with 911. And their response time is even worse after the call is placed.
LAPD 77th division claims that former Mayor Garcetti ordered not to respond to South LA and immediate areas , i.e.,Midcity. for gun shots if they already left and DV issues. YET we pay just as much property taxes as Beverly Hills. Oh and Karen Bass isn't any better because they are still not responding! LAPD has not attended a district 9 neighborhood council meeting in several months!!!!! Fire chief has showed up at every meeting.
By police not responding eventually there’s going to be some vigilante justice. And that’s when I’m sure the LAPD will show up and arrest you and not the suspects.
A catalytic converter gang stole from both neighbors from the side of me. One neighbor was going to work, walked out, and held my neighbor at Gun Point, WHILE they finished cutting it off his truck. They showed up 3hrs later only because I called our neighborhood council. At least both neighbors were able to file a police report.
My god - to not be safe in one's own home. What the hell is happening in this country? We are raising thugs instead of young adults.
What’s happening is liberals are being elected and defunding the police
I’m doubtful that we’re ‘raising’ anyone anymore.
Nah, if you listen to Scott adams then you'll be fine
I'm not even mad about the burglary at this point. I'm mad at the police. 3 detectives came to my house to question about my road rage incident, which wasn't my fault. Long story short, they tend to pick on easy targets like us law abiding citizens who have mistakenly run into bad situations with bad people but at the end of the day, we are the victims. It feels like we normal citizens are getting tagged teamed by both the police and the criminals
If black suspects get caught- remove all welfare benefits from the family (food assist, housing, free health care, cash assist, and etc).
They would scream waysism
Even with their faces and everything covered the way they move makes you be able to guess the description perfectly
Blk
Whoever answered his call at 911 should be indicted and fired from work.
