Edit: I don't use any pickles, but diced up pimento.

Huh. I just made up a pea salad. It was always my favorite growing up. I’ve never had it with pickles, but that looks good. I use a mustard in with the Mayo. My mama always used pearl onions instead of chopped. Now I’m wondering if the crisp fried onions that we use for green bean casserole would be even better. Hmm.

Thanks for sharing! What a wonderful family tradition!! There are many recipes that I wish my Mother had shared with me. When I would ask her how she made something, she would say she just added a little of this and a little of that. I call the goulash I make "Mom's Goulash" but I'm not sure of all the ingredients she used, plus I know that I have added a few that I am sure were never in hers. I've made it my own but it will always be called "Mom's Goulash". Take care!

My dear departed mother would make this for special occasions. She used miracle whip instead of mayo and when she wanted it to be a little fancy she'd add canned salad shrimp and cut up green olives with pimento no pickles, cheese or diced onion, but she put in garlic salt. Even if you hate canned pea's like I do you'll still like this.

I've never seen it made with pickles but it probably replaces the vinegar most add to the mayo mixture. I've also seen it made with a combo mayo and sour cream mixture . I love peas and would probably try it all. Tell Granny we send our appreciation, love and prayers.

My mom has been gone almost 40 years she made this often I love it! I use frozen defrosted peas but my mom used that brand of peas. I've never had it with dill pickles. I use green onions I think my mom used purple onion minced. I'm off to add these items to my grocery list. Thank you so much for a great memory. She used to make a baked dish with lentils sausage bacon and tomatoes. It was my favorite thing she ever made. I've never found a recipe even close to hers. Any ideas where I can look? Pea haters do like this!

I use Miracle Whip for all my cold salads and everyone loves it.
I also like it in a few of my salads. It’s wonderful that we have a choice of either. Blessings. ❤️
