Thank you! Having doubles of my hard drives lead to a tragic deleting of similar looking files on the wrong hard drive. I've spent my free time of the past month getting them back. Now I'm happy that I can be sure this mistake won't happen again!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you have something for the updates, they are a big problem because I can't stop them, or choice what I need and they take all my disk space and my pc is only for microsoft. So, I use update blocker but I need some of them ... any idea????
I'm apparently not smart enough. Did the steps to find that key and deleted it. It did not go away. The duplicate external drive is still listed, one under "This PC" and the other at the same level. The offending key, however, is no longer under "DelegateFolders". Searched for the key again and found it under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT... and also found the key in another locations, but no one of the three fix sites I've been to have mentioned this would happen, so I am not deleting anything else as I don't know what'll get wrecked if I do. Complaining as I am, I really do appreciate all of you geeks. I used to be one myself back in the first Microsoft days of Windows in the mid-1980s. Now, I'm old, and I get confused easily. Sigh.
Why is Microsoft doing this? And well knowing the user's frustrations, not fixing this? Or is there some use for this that we dumbheads are not aware of? 🤔

I did it long ago, after a while the bug came back, but now that registry folder is long gone. So this is not a permanent solution.
