Duplicated Hard drives in Windows Explorer - Windows 10 *Fix*

Поделиться
HTML-код
  • Опубликовано: 15 дек 2015
  • Since the November update, the 'This PC' section of Windows explorer has duplicated the Hard Drives in the side bar.
    this simple fix takes about 5 mins to do and will simply supress Windows from showing them twice - The main thing I hated was the fact it orders the drives by drive name and not letter!
    Full details are in the video with the Reg keys to rename displayed at the end incase I went too fast.
    I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

    I am in Australia. Great it worked, thank you so much. I am in my 60s and I am not very computer savvy of what I am doing in this type of thing, but your explanation was so clear, you took me through every step of the way and it worked!!!!! You saved me ringing my computer guy. Just great. Thanks again.

    Its rare I ever comment on RUclips. Your video solution cured a problem that has plagued me in Windows ME RAID System, XP, 7, and Vista Pro. It was like digital fungus that attached to my Portable Backup HDD and now its GONE. Gee now I have to find a new bug to gripe about. THANK YOU for the post.

    Absolutely grand, many thanks. I hated seeing the duplicates drive letters. This process works great, eliminates the dup's. I have the 64 bit windows 10, and renamed both files (.old) and I am a happy camper. I didn't mess too much with the rename, but, I would think precaution on the file rename, while highlighted, move cursor right at the end and click, to remove the highlight, then type your name change(in my case I used ( .old ).

    On windows 10 build 14393 (1607) and it fixed the issue for me, I didn't even need to do the WOW6432Node part, just the first bit did it for me. Many thanks! EDIT: They came back after updating, done this again and they're gone again, thanks AGAIN!

    Mate, this has been bugging me since i bought a new computer.. this solves it perfectly, and works with Windows 11 as well, in case anyone has this issue with that OS. Having duplicate drives on the left pane was causing no end of issues (caused by me not realising which drive was which) and sticking stuff on the wrong drive. Job sorted!

    I had such high hopes! Great tutorial, very easy to do and simple to understand, but for me it didn't work. I got as far as changing the Delegated Folder but the system won't allow me to either change the name or delete it. I logged in as an administrator but that didn't help. :(

      I'm replying to myself because I found the problem was I didn't have permissions to change the "DelegateFolders" folder. So right-click on that to change the permissions before you open up that folder and all is well!

    Hello, first thank you for putting this up here :) I'm not sure though if apply for what i have seen on my pc for a long time. Under This PC (10) and "My computer (W7) now obsolete for me. I keep seeing the drive's list almost ok if it was not starting with 4 Win7 (C:) and ending with 4 Win7 (X:) ? I can see this two HDD have the same description in format and size. However their content is quite different. "X:) does not display the same content. What am I missing? And Disk Management does display or comment on "X: drive ?

    • @Turniplord
      @Turniplord  4 года назад

      Hi,
      Sounds like you may have a mapped drive? When you go into x:, is it basically a folder within c:? If so, you should be able to unmapped it by right clicking and picking the option to do so (I believe there’s an option on win10 to disconnect).
      But, before you do so, make sure you know where it’s pointing to as you don’t want to misplace any files or folders you’ve got stored there.

    • @meeekstubbular
      @meeekstubbular 4 года назад

      @@Turniplord thanx for this. You're probably right as I do think it comes from the same drive...and it drives me a little nut too but I can cope with it and may not worry about fixing it. But it's nice to know there is a reason :)
