      My partition starting offset is 16777216 divided by 4096 i get 4096. If my partition is so aligned why doesn't it get to advertised Read/writes speed? They say max Read up to 3300MB/s i get only 2700 and max write 3000MB/s i get only 1500MB sequential. What could've caused these performance drops? My CPU Ryzen 7 5700G (i know it only supports pci3 but the disk itself is pci3.) Does the speeds depend on the quality of motherboard?

    Defragmenting isn't trimming. The only reasons I can think of that you'd want to defrag an SSD is to help refresh which cells data is stored on, which can help improve performance and data retention for some SSDs (the early Samsung EVO models, for example, before this was accounted for in later firmware) or where when extremely fragmented the limitations of the file system and OS themselves are reached (technically not an issue with the SSD, but rather how it's being used and optimized for a given OS). Overall though it is not recommended to do this as it mostly just adds wear cycles on the SSD, reducing its overall longevity. SSDs aren't physical disks that need file pieces stored close together to be read more quickly.
    Trimming is zeroing out cells where the file system data has since been deleted so that new data can be written to the cells a little faster as needed.

      @@Driving4bangers its snake oil. "reparing your registry" has never been a thing. it doesnt speed up your PC at all. it does Nothing. windows 10 handles your registry fine, and using some 3rd party program to modify it and delete entries is a big no-no and leads to more problems. the only thing CCleaner was good for was cleaning up temp files, but windows 10 does that anyway.

       @GMODISM I was late man... I had no issues, but I wanted to have the best speed for csgo (counter strike global offensive) and had watched a utoob video (4 ways to optimize ssd and made those changes advised in that video)....
      I bought my computer in November 2020, but I believe it was made in 2018, either way it's got Windows 10 home the current windows and my C drive is an m.2 nvme ssd, so i really didn't need to change anything that video advised, but i did... didn't really notice any difference so i undid everything cept for the trim in cmd command the notify 0 for trimming...
      I'm sure as you said it was always enabled (cause it's got Windows 10) well actually i know for a fact it was since i had previously went to optimize drives and clicked on optimize for the ssd and it always said trim not that it had been defragged like it does with my D drive which is just a reg hdd.. it aggravates me though, that the engineers used backwards terms (enabled means disabled and disabled means enabled... man that's aggravating) anyway thanks, I'm glad i got more curious today and started searching video's on this topic, glad i found your video man and re-enabled prefetch (3), re-activated the trim in optimize drives to weekly and re-activated sys main🐈
      p.s sorry if you get like 5 or 6 notifications, i kept editing my comment a bunch lol

    5:37 NO!!! With a solid state drive (SSD), it is recommended that you should NOT defragment the drive as it can cause unnecessary wear and tear which will reduce its life span!! Nevertheless, because of the efficient way in which SSD technology functions, defragmentation to improve performance is not actually required.
    SSDs are able to read blocks of data that are spread out over the drive just as fast as they can read those blocks that are adjacent to one another. Furthermore, they keep track of the order the files are written using a technique called ‘wear-levelling. This purposely writes data to the drive in such a way that its cells wear out evenly; which means that the drive does not degrade prematurely.
    Therefore, there is no reason to defragment a solid state hard drive to try and enhance its performance or its life span. The technology that solid state drives utilise means they are perfectly capable of looking after themselves!

    • @GMODISM
      @GMODISM  2 года назад +7

      Optimize is not defragment despite the tool being called defragmenter. Optimize drives is a widows feature, it knows when it is a SSD.

    Samsung Magician for 870 EVO under "Performance Optimization" if you select "Full Performance Mode" (which is the only mode that allows Rapid Status enabled) it gives a Caution: "product warranties may not apply to the drive's high temperature and data loss due to long-term use." Do you recommend that Full Performance Mode setting? Your tutorials are great, thank you.

    • @GMODISM
      @GMODISM  2 года назад

      Hey mate!
      Samsung ssd is of good quality, make sure there is a fan close to the ssd and monitor its temperature under high load to see if it gets too hot, if it doesn't get hot it should be absolutely fine.
      However most likely the boost won't be vital and the performance increase to normal use should not be large, so if you don't want to check what temperature it has under high load, or if it gets too hot, keep it disabled.

Why is that , that means Windows never trimmed my ssd ? So this optimisation thing that windows is doing for me every week is basically SMART not TRIM ?
